The home of Niels Strøyer Christophersen, founding partner of FRAMA was called a ‘renovation project’ by his realtor. He left the walls bare and unfinished, with art work leaning against them. He told Kinfolk (go have a look at the entire article here) that he sees decorating a home as a process: “It’s all right to wait for the right object to come instead of going to a warehouse and buying all of your furniture. Create a nice little museum of beautiful memories”. I totally agree with this approach and I can speak out of experience that going to Ikea in one day for your entire home does not usually end well (I’m almost ashamed to say that I came home with a red book shelf, which I got tired of the next day. Since then I’m not a big fan of the color red in interiors). I’m completely amazed by this home.

Black forest home with modern minimal interior

When Louise Wichmanns moved into this old woodhouse on the outskirts of the forest north of Copenhagen it wasn’t anything like the beautiful, modern family home it is now. I like the palette of greys which is mixed up with the colourful rug at the dining area.
I also really like the three Gubi Best Lite BL6 placed right above the frames. This really drags the attention to the artwork and really catches the eye.

Wegner – Just one good chair

As some of you might have seen on my Instagram feed, we travelled to Copenhagen over the Easter days. We had been there before two years ago and covered the main tourist attractions back then, so this trip was all about walking around in Vesterbro and Nørrebro, doing some shopping (Stilleben was high on my list, as well as Playtype which unfortunately was closed) and last but certainly not least we visited two really nice museums.

We took the train to the Louisiana modern art museum, where we spend the day strolling around both inside and outside and had a great lunch as well.

The other museum we did was the designmuseum Denmark, where we saw the Just one good chair exhibition, following the life and work of Wegner. The exhibition marks the 100th anniversary of his birth and gives and insight into his work with photos, drawings and models. It was nice to see some of his earlier works and read about the story behind each design. I find his work exceptional and never boring. The two last pictures by the way are from another exhibition about storage in the same museum, also very nice. If you get the chance and are in Copenhagen, you should definitely check it out.

This is the lovely old townhouse of Sofie Christensen Egelund (co-owner of Vipp) in Copenhagen. The new design of the Vipp kitchen and modern furniture matches very well with the old bits of the architecture of the house.

Hi there, I hope you all had some wonderful Christmas days and good times with your families. I certainly enjoyed a few days of relaxing and family time. This is the big apartment of a Norwegian family in Copenhagen with gorgeous natural elements and a combination of different patterns. I love the combination of different woods.

Inside out or actually outside in

Stina Dahl renovated her Copenhagen apartment using mostly materials traditionally used outdoors. She likes her interior to be a combination of recycled items, design and homemade things. I think it’s that combination that makes her apartment so unique.

I love this styling Nathalie Schwer did with Elise Barloese for the lovely brand Broste. Line Thit Klein was the photographer for this project, which I found out about on the Bungalow 5 blog.
