White and wood tints in a Berlin home

The living room was this big open space with windows covering the entire wall. I picked the Como table and Vela sofa from Bolia which went very nicely together with the color of the floor. I like the simple and clean lines of the coffee table a lot and they contrasted very nicely with the curvy Normann Copenhagen Knot Chair, available at Minimum.

Next to the couch I placed some frames with artwork from Playtype and Studio Esinam and my &tradition raft stool with the Plug lamp from Atelje Lyktan. This lamp is designed by Form us with Love and it really was what this living room needed. I use it home as well and it has served its purpose for phone charging already many times, as we always tend to run out of plugs.

For the dining table, I used the Buk table legs from Normann Copenhagen. They are just so beautiful and I was surprised to see how easy they are to assemble. They are super sturdy as well, something I’m often in doubt about with table legs. On their website they combine it with a wooden top, which is very nice, but in this home I wanted to contrast it with a white top to reflect all the light coming in from the big windows. Around the table I combined some vintage chairs with the Modern Muuto Visu chair, also available from Minimum. I like this contrast of old and new. Above the dining and coffee table, you can see the subtle Frama lights in copper and white. I had been eying on the Diamond bulb for a while and was excited to use it in this styling.

In the bedroom you can see a soft grey bed with bedding from Mikmax, which I combined with a small workspace with some vintage finds. I like how the soft grey from the fabric and the wood from the desk go together. Above the bed you can see a set of new palm prints I’m currently working on. They will be appearing in my shop soon, together with the abstract black print above the sofa.

Chemex woodneck coffee maker

post

I used to be a total coffee newbie. Coffee pros, don’t get angry with me but I even used to like the sugary cappuccino powders. That’s until I got into the habit of drinking real coffee at work. Now I like it so much – maybe a little too much…

I also started enjoying the whole process of preparing coffee. The smell, the water boiler and heating up milk for my latte became a morning ritual. Up to now, I was always improvising with a self made ‘system’ (I call it system, which is an overstatement for a filter pulled over a cup). Apart from the occasional coffee grain it worked sort of fine, but I thought it was about time to get a real coffee maker. I was eyeing on the beautiful Chemex woodneck for a while and finally went ahead and bought it (after considering the Hario one as well).

Apart from how pretty it looks for serving coffee – which is the main reason why I bought it – I was amazed with how much a coffee maker can improve the taste of your coffee. I also got some custom filter to go with it, but wonder if it would work with the regular ones as well. Do you know?

Now I’m eyeing on the Hario Buono kettle as well, to make slow pouring easy and pretty.

Minimal and white by Studio Niels

Too white and minimal to use this as an inspiration for my own home I would say, but still really nice to look at. I like the contrast of the black floor with the white furniture and walls.

It’s a very romantic home (as you would kind of suspect from a Parisian home right ?) but still has a tough touch to it. I like this combination of soft and hard.

Soft with a green marble accent

I like the soft colors in this home. Neutral tints are the perfect way of making a space look simple and minimal, without making it look clinical. Other then these neutrals, there are also a few nice eye-catchers added to this home, like the green marble on top of the stove.

I saw the home of Sanna Fischer Nordstrom on the Lovelylife blog and just had to share it with you. I love the grey tint of the kitchen that comes back in the bookshelf and in other details around the house. For more pictures of Sanna’s lovely home, you can take a look here.

White and antique

It’s nice how the white walls and floors appear so bright in these pictures. I’m a big fan of white myself (as you might have noticed) and even though I like all white pictures, for my own home I like to break it with some darker colors like the antique brown furniture in this apartment. This way, the interior is perceived as less clean and clinical.

Small home kitchen

post

Small home kitchen - via Coco Lapine DesignSmall home kitchen - via Coco Lapine Design Small home kitchen - via Coco Lapine DesignI’m always intrigued to see how people come up with creative solutions for living in small places. In this small home for example, I like how some extra chairs are used as wall decoration in the hallway and can be taken out when there are visitors.

Small space living

This Fantastic Frank apartment in Stockholm is only 37m2 large, but it certainly doesn’t seem like there isn’t enough space. By adding just the right amount of furniture, this studio actually looks quite spacious.
