Light filled penthouse with wood beams

post

I bumped into this light filled appartement (penthouse) the other day. Who wouldn’t want to live here ? I love the fact that part of the construction is shown and this is really brought to the attention by keeping all walls white. The colored objects and prints accentuate the white walls and the many lines they make throughout the apartment and make it a vibrant place to live.

Home of Hanne Berzant

post

This is the home of Hanne Berzant, designer and owner of By Nord. These pictures give me a winter feeling, but at the same time, they beam warmth and coziness. Actually  I think many of the By Nord products also have this style. You can see that the owner of the house has a great sense of Nordic aesthetics. She lives in this big, light apartment with her husband and three girls. All pictures from here, as seen on Design Attractor.

Modern Nomad House

post

Today I wanted to show you this modern nomad house. It’s not usually the style I like for a home, but this one has such a great balance I’m drawn to it. It has so many gorgous details around the house, which makes it a very special place. I think you have to be really carfull with the colors, it can be easily too much, but here the balance is perfect. The big windows bring in a lot of light, which reflects on all the different colors and materials. This home was featured in Elle Decoration, found on 79 ideas. The pictures are taken by Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer.

By Nord Catalogue

post

A By Nord pillow is on my list already for a while now, but just recently I had a look in their Fall- Winter catalogue, and I was very impressed. I think my favorite would still be the printed pillow cases with the winter animals. To me this is very Christmassy (it’s very early to think about this I know) and it gives the ultimate winter feeling. But first, let’s enjoy fall a little more!

Candy Collection by Kristin Overbeck

post

Happy Friday everyone ! On this lovely day, I wanted to show you the Candy Collection by Kristen Overbeck. It made me all happy this morning, so maybe it does the same to you guys. I’m not sure if everything in the pictures would be living room material, but I’m really attracted to the pastel colors. And the fact that it is candy jut makes me smile even more.

This is how Kristin Overbeck describes her collection:
The tasty and colorful world of sweets and delicious goodies served as inspiration for the Candy Collection. I wanted to design products reminiscing enthusiasms of childhood, especially the irresistible savor of sugar. The result is an eye candy, a visual feast for the senses. The Candy Collection consists of six three-legged stools, carpets, coat hooks and a lamp. Each object relates to pastries, sugar pearls and various sweet delicacies. Savory products with zero calories guaranteed!

Gem Carpet – Normann Copenhagen

post

One of my favorite Danish design brands, Normann Copenhagen, released a new series of Gem Carpets in tree colors (shades of blue, grey and purple). Designer Anne Lehmann got her inspiration for the asymmetrical shape and three-dimensional effect comes from nature’s flint stones, minerals and precious stones. The idea behind the Gem rugs came from the inspiration she took from the crystal structures in minerals such as amethyst, quartz and pyrite, which are not defined by an oval or square shape, but rather by asymmetrical facets.

// DIY Wood Bead Potholder

post

As you might have noticed from this post, I like wood beads. This time I bought some bigger beads, to make a wood bead potholder. I used a neon yellow string with it, because I like the combination of the shouting neon with the natural and calm wood texture.

I went to the craft store and bought 15 Wood beads (diameter 30mm / about 1,2 inch) and a stretch chord. You put all 15 beads on the stretch chord and make a double loop on the end. I pulled the chord a bit so my circle would be tight enough. Then I hid the two ends in the last two beads so they weren’t visible and voila, done. A quick and simple DIY project to make a nice new design object for your dining table.
