While living in Stockholm, Seraina Silja Hürlimann started to collect moments and things into a visual story collection, inspired by Swedish culture and Nordic design. I thought they were so inspiring and decided to ask her a few questions about it:
What do you study and what would you like to do after you graduate ?
I just finished my bachelor degree in visual communication and I am now looking for new challenges. I don’t think I have a main occupation by now, still looking for it, but I guess it will be somewhere between interior design, visual communication, interior styling and social media.
What inspires you to take these beautiful shots? Did you make the visual stories as part of your school projects ?
The visual stories started some time ago, when I lived in Stockholm for five months. I wanted to collect everything I see. So it all started from a personal interest in collecting moments and things, inspired by the swedish culture and nordic design. There are still nordish hints in the images, but the thing that changed during the process is the act of styling. In one study project two semesters ago I discovered a new way of working with spaces, objects, surfaces and how to combine them into a whole composition. In the same semester I decided to turn my Instagram account public and share the visual stories with like-minded people. So it all started from a personal interest, inspired by the nordish way of living, but I had the chance to work on my skills and push them through study projects.
Do you take the shots in your own home or in projects on location?
Most of them are shots from or in my own home. I like to focus on the image-in-the-making and this is easier if you already know the space. But I would love to try it on locations and other spaces in the future, even if it would be a challenge at first.

Dit zijn de visuele verhalen van Seraina. Ik vond ze zo mooi dat ik er haar een paar vragen over stelde, die je hierboven in het Engels kan lezen.
