One of the things I’m really happy about in our new place is that it has a balcony. It’s a small one, but it’s just enough for the both of us and just like the rest of the building, it has original details.

I put a lot of thought into how to make the most from this space and ultimately decided to go for a minimal look that would contrast with the cast iron railings and lots of plants to create a green oasis in the city. I’m so happy with the Menu wire lounge chairs from Westwing Now. They are very comfortable and don’t take up so much space. When we move things around, we can still fit a few stools for when we have guests.

Our balcony gets full sun from midday until the evening, so it was important to find a good sun protection as well. The Cinas balcony umbrella fits so well here and it’s great that we could just hang it on the balcony rather then having to fit a heavy foot, which would have taken up so much more space. The wire plant pot from Menu gives the look this extra edge and since the lounge chairs are made for both in- and outdoors, I’m thinking about using them inside in winter as well. I think they would look great in our living room.

We bought a fig plant (love the smell), planted some smaller plants in the planters and bought a climber plant that we hope will grow to fill up the gaps in the railing a little. Rather then covering these pretty details up we try to get some natural covering.
