The Spanish Chair special edition in my new home

As some of you might have seen from my previous post on Instagram, I just moved into a new apartment here in Munich. The whole place is pretty much still a chaos with walls of boxes to be unpacked, but I’m pretty happy with how my living room corner turned out already. It’s the first place that I wanted to finish, because it’s so nice to have a spot to relax and feel calm during all the unpacking.

You might notice some of the items from my previous living room, but the piece that makes this whole look complete definitely is the iconic Spanish Chair from Fredericia – the 60 years special edition no less ! I love how the olive green saddle leather combines with the solid soaped oak frame and the golden details on the leather closures. The chair fits perfectly with the flooring in my new place which has a warmer wood tint.

The Spanish Chair – usually available in the standard color options – celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. It was designed by Børge Mogensen in 1958 and manufactured by Fredericia ever since. The special edition you see in my living room was launched for the occasion of the anniversary and will only be available until December 31st of this year. To honour Børge Mogensen’s work, Fredericia searched the master’s archive and discovered this subtle, natural colour, which was one of his most loved hues and one of the dominating interior colours at the time.

To celebrate this special anniversary, Fredericia invited Børge Mogensen’s grandson, renowned fashion photographer Rasmus Mogensen, to portrait himself with the masterpiece created by his granddad in 1958. You can read an interview with him here.

This blogpost was created in collaboration with Fredericia, however all thoughts and opinions are my own. If you would like to see how the Spanish chair is made, you can watch this fun video.
