Henning Koppel pieces from Georg Jensen

In the last two weeks, we have been spending so much more time at home. For me personally, this didn’t really change so much, as I’m used to working from my home office. Though these extra few hours not spend at they gym, meeting friends for coffee or enjoying the sun outside, I have been putting into decorating my home. It’s something I enjoy so much and I love the simple changes you can do with accessories or simply moving pieces around creating different palettes of colors, textures and materials.

Last week, I received these beautiful Koppel pieces from Georg Jensen in my home and I love how they have transformed my kitchen and dining table. My kitchen is all white, which I softened out with different tints of wood in my dining table, chairs and cutting boards. The mirror polished stainless steel of these pieces stand out so nicely against the wood tints I think and they truly add something special.

I think most of you know the HK pitcher (on the top shelf of my kitchen), it’s one of the first Georg Jensen pieces that I got to know a few years back and I have always been drawn to this iconic organic shape. It is considered a landmark in Danish design history and was designed by Henning Koppel. The groundbreaking danish designer made his mark in defining Danish Design as we know it today and his designs are based on clean lines, which mixes the strict rules of functionalism with organic, lifelike shapes. His mission was to make everyday life products beautiful as well as practical. He was trained as a sculptor and began collaborating with Georg Jensen in 1946.

On my dining table, you can see the KOPPEL vase, which is a great example of the beauty of minimalist Scandinavian design. It was launched in 2018 as a celebration of 100 years of collaboration with Henning Koppel. I love that the surface of the vase reflects the dried flowers that I styled in it but I think it’s a statement piece even without them. The vase comes with a matching set of HK candle holders, which look very nice styled together with the vase.

And to match the mirror polished stainless steel and wood theme I now have going on here in my kitchen, there is the Turnip and Onion Bonbonnieres, also designed by Henning Koppel which combine wood and stainless steel, while still maintaining the iconic organic shapes of the pieces. They are great for storage in the kitchen and I’m using one of the Onion Bonbonnieres for keeping jewellery. The lid is perfect for holding rings.

This blogpost was created in collaboration with Georg Jensen, however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and the Henning Koppel pieces, have a look on their website.
