Do you have a green thumb ? I used to be so terrible with plants when I moved into my first apartment in Berlin 9 years ago. I would kill plant after plant and would feel so bad about it that I made it my mission to get better at this over the years and eventually I did. I’m not an expert at plant care yet (it’s a process), but it’s something that I truly enjoy. I usually block time for this over the weekend and it makes me feel relaxed to be nurturing my green friends.
I got to try out these beautiful new plant pots and watering bulbs from the Terra Collection designed by Snøhetta for Georg Jensen and they made my plants look so much more interesting. The Terra series consist out of nine pieces crafted in both terracotta and stainless steel which can be used both indoors and outdoors. I have used two of the largest terracotta planters in the living room and paired them up with my darker green leafed plants because I love how these colors combine with the deep red of the terracotta. In the bigger pots I’m using the stainless steel watering globes as well, which adds such a lovely contrast with this darker setup and I love the way these globes reflect the light as well.
I have used the smaller stainless steel planter for my little avocado tree and I think the fresh green leafs pair up wonderfully with the reflections of the stainless steel.
These contemporary pieces can be used as a sculptural pieces on their own, but can also make a statement when gathered together as a group. The shape of the pieces is inspired by the organic forms found in nature and is an excellent combination of the earthy, organic look and feel of terracotta and the cool, industrial edge of stainless steel. Wider at the base and more narrow on the top, the pieces are stable and offer plenty of room for the roots of the plant to flourish all while creating and elegant, shapely form.
Snøhetta is known for their diverse, groundbreaking projects that range from the SFMOMA extension, the Oslo Opera house, and the National September 11 Memorial Museum to countless furniture and product lines. The designers fused their innovative and experimental approach with Georg Jensen’s enduring legacy for impeccable quality craft. The Terra Collection continues the challenge at Georg Jensen to combine metals with other materials and it’s what I personally love most about this collection as well. The deep terracotta pieces are enlightened with stainless steel details that reflect their surroundings for an interesting mix of textures, all while accentuating and the plant itself.
This blogpost was created in collaboration with Georg Jensen, however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and the Terra collection, have a look on their website.
