CH24 Soft: a special edition wishbone chair by Hans J. Wegner & Ilse Crawford

I think you all know the CH24 Wishbone chair, the original classic design piece by Hans J. Wegner which has found its place in so many homes around the world. The chair has become a true icon and its eye-catching design has captivated so many design lovers, myself included. I was able to try out the CH24 Soft in the special edition Hollyhock in my home and I’m so in love with this happy touch of color here. I feel like the chairs have added the perfect spring mood, yet in a sophisticated way.

The CH24 Wishbone chair was designed in 1949 and has since been continuously produced by Carl Hansen & Søn. To celebrate the collaboration between Hans J. Wegner and Carl Hansen & Søn, which has lasted for more then 70 years, London-based designer Ilse Crawford has reinterpreted the master’s work in a carefully curated palette of nine deep and complex water-based soft colors inspired by the expressionist works of Per Kirkeby, one of Denmark’s most significant painters. All colors are eco-friendly, water-based, and resilient, so they are perfect for both private and public use. The color palette is available throughout 2022, a new color each month.

The Hollyhock edition, seen in my home is available from April and combines Beechwood with a natural cord. The Soft Hollyhock color is my absolute favorite of the collection and I was immediately drawn to it. I love the way it transforms my otherwise neutral interior, adding a vibrant yet subtle note of color, which is present, but not overpowering.

The nine colors reflect the times we live in, resonating with a contemporary audience. They are not standard colors, following the trends of time, but colors that add depth and complexity to any interior. The nine colors celebrate plants, minerals, and soil that make up the raw beauty of the Nordic landscape. They work both individually and in interaction with each other.

This blogpost was created in collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn, however, all opinions are my own of course. Visit their website, if you would like to know more about the special Hollyhock edition, or the full collection of special edition colors designed by Ilse Crawford.
