The finishes and floor plan of this majestic attic apartment in Sweden are very high-end and it’s amazing to see the result of the remodeling of this historic place. The dark oak kitchen cabinets stand out in the interior with white walls exclusively, not only because of their deep tone but also because the kitchen connects all the different rooms in the apartment, functioning as a true hub.
The interior design of the living room and the bedrooms is minimal yet elegant, highlighting the beautiful quality of the natural materials used throughout the space.
A dark oak living kitchen is the hub of the apartment
The combination of the dark oak kitchen cabinets with the white walls and the white natural stone countertops works beautifully in this big attic kitchen space that can be reached from the staircase when entering the attic apartment.
The layout consists of a large module on the wall with a small window and a beautiful kitchen island in the middle of the space, that includes the cooking hob.
The beautiful, irregular wall in this historic attic apartment is decorated with dark oak floating shelves that follow the lines of the sloped ceiling.
A dining area in a dark tone complements the dark oak kitchen cabinets
I love the combination of the dark wood dining table and chairs, which takes front and center in the living room, with the dark oak kitchen cabinets which can be seen throughout the open floorplan.
A simple living room setting underneath a sloped roof
The living room features small exposed beams underneath the windows, which contrasts nicely against the white walls and are quite the eye-catcher in the space. The rest of the living room decor is kept minimal and in a neutral color palette.
The light grey sofa combined with the two black leather armchairs and the dark wood tables forms the perfect setting in combination with the adjacent dining table and chairs.
A minimal guest bedroom design with a large balcony window
The design of the attic guest bedroom is kept minimal since the angles of the sloped ceiling already add a lot of visual lines to the setting. A subtle mixture of textiles on the bed, a soft grey wool rug, and a single black leather armchair are enough to design the room.
A large window leading up to the balcony is decorated with beautiful linen curtains that transform this window into a design element in the space.
Even though the rest of the cozy bedroom is decorated in a minimalistic way, the colorful framed art print on the wall above the bedroom sitting area is what really stands out.
A beautiful staircase with exposed beams and an eye-catching light fixture
The staircase in the hallway comes out into the kitchen, where the dark exposed beams perfectly complement the dark oak cabinets. The focal point in the staircase is a multi-arm pendant with reflective discs that must cast a beautiful atmospheric light throughout the space in the evenings.
Master bedroom with a custom wood headboard
When going up the small staircase in the open-plan kitchen, you can reach the master bedroom, which has a minimal appearance like the guest bedroom. The natural oak headboard complements the hardwood flooring and accentuates the half-wall behind which a wardrobe is hidden.
The two wall lamps fit perfectly against the white walls, while the wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling curtains add a luxurious look and feel to this beautiful space.
A modern yet delicate bathroom design
Rather than matching the dark oak kitchen cabinets in the bathroom as well, a lighter color palette was selected with fluted cabinet fronts in a soft color palette that complements the limestone tiles on the walls and flooring. The large, custom mirror above the sink reflects the space in a beautiful way and the sheer curtains in front of the window add an elegant element to the modern materials.
The module next to the sink contains the washing machine, built into a custom casing so it’s not in plain sight.
