This gorgeous historic apartment in Sweden (Styled by Anna Van Keppel, photographed by Elin Sylwan for Historiska Hem) has such beautiful, ornate detailing underneath the ceiling, in the wainscoting on the walls, and on the beautiful doors and window frames.
The bedroom, which lies right next to the living room has a wardrobe built above the bed paired with a delicate wallpaper design that accentuates the white historic details in the room.
The cream-white kitchen with black countertops and brass hardware is finished with glossy white subway tiles on the backsplash. The wall table next to the kitchen window is perfect for a quick bite or morning coffee, while the dining area in the living room is great for having dinner as a family.
The main bedroom and the kid’s room are separated by an additional wall with an indoor window so that the daylight coming into the main bedroom can also reach the small kid’s room.
A white living room with historic wainscoting
The tall and historic wainscoting in the living room is paired with a delicate selection of furniture pieces, accessories, and lamps for an elegant look with a few pink details and white curtains on each side of the window.
The small beige sofa is paired with a beautiful vintage lamp and a series of 3 art prints in muted colors decorate the area above the living room wainscoting.
The antique white porcelain fireplace in the corner has delicate pink details and the golden candle wall sconces on each side of the door finish the doorway off in a classic way. The wall opposite the TV holds closed cabinets with classic detailing on the doors and a subtle Samsung Frame TV doesn’t take too much attention away from the wainscoting behind it.
The round dining table in front of the window can seat 4 people and is decorated with an elegant mirror on the wall and a subtle pink floor lamp.

The living room door comes out into the small bedroom, where you can immediately catch a glimpse of the subtle yellow wallpaper design on the walls.
A beige wardrobe has been built around the bed, leaving out an area for a headboard. The open shelving in between the two main cupboards is great for holding books and a night light is attached on the bottom of this shelf.
The additional wall that separates the main bedroom from the kid’s room has a classic window built inside of it, allowing daylight to flow into the back room which doesn’t receive direct daylight.
A classic white kitchen with a black countertop
From the hallway, you reach the kitchen, which has white cabinets paired with contrasting black countertops and brass hardware.
The classic white cabinets fit with the historic details in the apartment and the backsplash is finished with white subway tiles. In the corner next to the kitchen window, you can find a folding table which is great for a quick snack or coffee.
A coffee station on the other side of the kitchen is perfect for the coffee machine and the glass upper cabinets are great for displaying the prettiest kitchen accessories.
A window in between the kitchen and the hallway opens up the floor plan and it makes the space appear bigger.
A small kids’ room with subtle red tones in the wallpaper
Right next to the main bedroom, you can find a small kid’s room that is finished off with beautiful wallpaper with red tones on top of the wainscoting.
An old doorway is closed up and turned into a bookshelf for children’s books.

The simple bathroom is decorated with a majestic mirror above the sink and the vanity and storage cabinets are finished off with light grey cabinet doors for an elegant touch.
