This gorgeous contemporary interior design is fitted inside a wonderful historic apartment in Sweden (Styled by Thomas Lingsell, photographed by Per Orchidéen for Historiska Hem). The solid pine wood kitchen takes front and center in the design of the apartment and complements the white-soaped hardwood flooring in a beautiful way.
The minimal decor in the living room and bedroom adds a modern touch to the interior, which features a mixture of timeless design classics and modern art pieces for a no-nonsense look with a stylish and unique effect.
The walls in the entire apartment are white, allowing for the natural materials and careful selection of objects to shine in the space.
A solid pine wood kitchen for a warm and modern effect
The solid pine wood kitchen stands out in the apartment in its simplicity and the beautiful natural grain on the cabinet fronts adds a unique effect to the kitchen space. The cabinets as well as the countertop are made out of wood, giving the kitchen a cohesive look that is paired with black ceramics and stainless steel elements in the sink, faucet, and oven.
The lower kitchen module with the sink and stove is enhanced with a high cupboard that is half open. In the open section, a wonderful selection of black ceramics and glassware provide a contrasting element. The upper cabinets are built up to the ceiling for an impressive effect in the space.
The subtle chrome knobs on the cabinets add a subtle modern element to the natural pine wood.
The kitchen is planned along a single wall, allowing this narrow space to appear spacious.
The kitchen is paired with a small vintage pine wood table, a farmhouse-style pendant light, and two accent black dining chairs. The wood artwork on the wall is the perfect fit against the wall in this kitchen.
In the hallway, which can be seen from the kitchen, a custom shelf insert is used on the wall for displaying books and accessories. By using pine wood for this insert as well, the design of the two spaces is tied together in an elegant way.
A minimal living room with white walls and design classics
The design of the living room is minimal yet cozy, with white walls drawing all the attention to the careful selection of design classics in the space. The subtle red tone on the pillow decorating the sofa comes back in the artwork hanging on the wall above it.
The white porcelain historic fireplace in the corner is paired with the modern Flos Parentesi lamp* and modern artwork. This play between historic and modern elements adds a unique effect to the interior of the space.
The oak wood dining table and chairs in front of the large living room window provide a beautiful dining spot and the entire area gets reflected in a large mirror leaning against the wall, making the space appear even bigger.
A wall shelving system against the living room provides a great spot for a collection of books and the two wood armchairs add a beautiful vintage touch to this living room section.
A minimal bedroom with lots of art pieces
The bedroom is minimal yet cozy, with white walls setting the tone of the interior. The beautiful pine wood kitchen can be seen from the bedroom and the wood artwork on the floor next to the kitchen door matches this wood aesthetic.
The red pillows add a colorful touch to the bed and the vintage pine wood bedside table couldn’t be more perfect for this setting.
Custom storage solutions in a narrow hallway
The narrow hallway of the apartment features another wall shelf for books and a large-scale artwork on the wall.
An old walk-in closet is fitted with custom shelving and the storage area underneath the pine wood worktop is finished with a cute linen curtain to hide the contents underneath it.
A bathroom with beige tiles and custom pine wood elements
The small bathroom is finished with beige tiles on the wall and a custom pine wood storage cabinet fills the wall space on top of the toilet.
