The original turn of the century features on the ceilings, doors and windows of this home are absolutely amazing. Add a beautiful new hardwood floor and you have the perfect apartment to decorate. I love the dining room with the wing doors leading up to the living room and the ceiling hight built in bookshelf.
The kitchen has a seating area with concrete benches in the corner and a tile wall that goes all the way up to the ceiling. The three bare lightbulbs above the table add an extra industrial touch to this corner.
This small apartment is designed in quite a smart way. The kitchen and living room are one room, with the dining table in the center. The kitchen itself spreads over two walls, leaving out a window to the hallway for extra light on the other side. The bedroom is very small but fits the bed exactly. Those two small art pieces on the wall there make it very unique as well and I love that the curtains have the same tone as the walls.
This weekend we had a little getaway to the beautiful Bachmair Weissach hotel at Tegernsee, just a short train ride away from Munich. The hotel is a century old family hotel originally built in 1862, which was returned to its former glory with original furniture and Bavarian authenticity combined with modern elements.
The hotel has a large Wellness and Spa area – the Mizu Onsen Spa – modelled after the Japanese culture of bathing where you can spend hours relaxing and escape the city and work routine. The hotel has a heated outdoor pool (see the last picture) which was very comfortable even in the colder spring temperatures we were having during our stay. The Spa includes two saunas, a hot steam room, a Japanase Onsen and many different resting areas where you can relax. On Monday we stayed at the Spa the entire day going from one area to the other.
On Sunday we explored the Tegernsee area on a (very photogenic) bike and managed to pedal all around the lake, which was a great day trip in beautiful surroundings. Afterwards we had dinner at the Mizu sushi bar where chef Kudo Chiori prepared us an array of small and delicious courses. I read that you can even do a sushi course there, which will be something for our next stay. The night before we had dinner at the ‘Stube’, where we had a variety of delicate Bavarian specialities with a modern interpretation.
The spa experience, combined with the surrounding nature and the variety of high quality food options made our stay unforgettable and I’m sure we will be returning soon.
Our accommodation was sponsored by the Bachmair Weissach hotel

This project by Andrew Simpson Architects combines a very dark and moody interior with high end materials and design items and a beautiful custom wood panelling in the kitchen. The part of the home that is darker is also the old part of the house, which is combined with a modern annex. I love this dark-light, old-new combination and it shows both original and modern elements of the building in its best light.
Fritz Hansen just released a version of their PK61 table in beige marble and I think it has the perfect minimal, yet warm and structural look. I especially love the marble veins in combination with the angles of the fishbone wooden flooring in these picture.
This small bedroom was painted in a shade of blush (or powder pink, not sure how to call this color) and looks so soft and delicate. The pink combines very nicely with the beige and white bedlinen, the mustard throw, and the little brass vase on the window sill.
I think this color is a bold choice and is perfect for this little bedroom.
I’m exploring moving our bar trolley into the kitchen and making a cute little corner with a wall lamp. The trolley can keep things like cookbooks, plants and bar items, but also things that I just want to display (some things are just too pretty to put into a closed kitchen cabinet aren’t they ?).
One of the reasons that most of the posts on my blog in the interior inspiration category are homes that are photographed to be sold, is that you get the chance to see every honest corner of the home (like you take a tour inside) and get lots of ideas for decorating and functional solutions.
So when one of my favorite bloggers and Instagram inspirations Katerina Dima showed the photographs of her entire home on her blog I naturally got very inspired. Her apartent will be for sale and she will be moving to a new place. Katerina’s white and bright home has a lot of natural light, which is reflected on her light grey flooring and the mainly light color scheme. Her recently painted beige kitchen looks very natural and cozy and her light beige bedroom has a very clean look.
To read more about the items in Katerina’s home, have a look on her blog.

Danish designer Cecilie Manz has created a kitchen concept for Reform which balances functionality and a hospitable atmosphere. The design is called Degree and has a geometric notch handle which is placed in the corner of each front and adds a graphic element to the kitchen. I think this handle solution is so elegant and the fact that the wood grains are placed diagonally is a very nice touch as well.
