All grey kitchen

post

All grey kitchen - via Coco Lapine Design blog All grey kitchen - via Coco Lapine Design blog

This kitchen is made entirely out of grey elements. The cabinets fronts, stone top and wall paint all share the same grey tint and the black Thonet chairs, kitchen faucet, cabinet handles, lamps and switches really stand out because of this. The different surfaces and materials really make this look interesting though, otherwise an all grey room could start looking dull.

Alma club Stockholm

Alma club is a members in Stockholm club that aims to unite Swedens creative crowd. It is built in the former Beckmann’s design college (once a sewing factory in the early 1900’s) in the heart of Stockholm.

While designers Tham & Videgård covered the whole building with co-working areas and creative spaces, my favorite is the restaurant in the old industry hall which is covered with custom wooden cabinets and green fishbone tiling on the floor. The soft green color of the bottom of the space combined with the wooden furniture makes this space look very warm and cozy, which is not usually easily achieved in such a space.

This living room in a warm color palette really speaks to me. It has a relaxed and cozy vibe, without being too full. The key here is working with lots of textiles to create a warm look. The curtains are placed on the entire wall and the area rug covers almost the entire living room area. A round dining table fits perfectly in this space and is covered with a large linen table cloth.

Studio Lotta Agaton for Marbodal

Studio Lotta Agaton for Marbodal

Studio Lotta Agaton styled a series of kitchen designs for Marbodal and this setup is by far my favorite. First of all, the combination of the black kitchen with the white countertop and the light wooden flooring works very well. Apart from that, the element that really stands out here is the peg rack that spreads over the entire kitchen, which looks very impressive.

I’m thinking about a smaller version of a wooden peg rack in our kitchen to hang some pretty kitchen items as well. I would probably not go the entire kitchen and especially don’t hang it this full, however in this setup it looks amazing.

Stylish home in greige

post

I think this spacious Swedish apartment looks amazing and I like the subtile color choices of the space and interior decoration. The large combined kitchen and living room has been painted in a greige (grey and beige combined) color, which works very well with the natural light coming through the many windows.

The black kitchen with the marble countertop adds some contrast in this space and the kitchen island divides the two areas in a nice way. The vintage round dining table has a lot of character and the lines of the matching vintage Thonet chairs mix up the otherwise rather straight lines in this room. The living room area looks very soft and inviting and there the Pholc chandelier and the vintage leather armchairs really catch the eye.

The bedroom is kept very minimal. The dark walls are a design element on its own if you ask me. They must have such an impressive effect when you walk into the room and it seems like there is enough daylight to pull dark walls like this off. The feathery Vita EOS lamp and the vintage stool next to the bed add some character to this room as well.

Sundling Kickén for In My Corner

post

This is the latest work of Swedish stylists Sundling & Kickén for the InMyCorner shop. The painted walls look great together with the architectural details of this amazing building. The decor matches this elegant look and some modern pieces give this space a fresh look.

The living room has a large velvet area rug, which matches the grey velvet sofa and contrasts nicely against the vintage leather safari armchair. The glass coffee table keeps this look light. The round dining room has a statement dining table (nothing less than a large marble-footed table would match in such a majestic room) paired up with oak Wishbone CH24 chairs.

The bedroom has been designed very warm and cozy and I like that the color of the wall comes back in the curtains and the blanket. A rug adds to this soft bedroom look and the large wooden bedside table matches this whole setting perfectly.

Minimal Studio

There is something that inspires me about small studio spaces that are well designed and have a balanced look. When you live in a small space, you have to make such careful choices about what comes into your home and you are forced to adopt a minimal lifestyle. Making these careful decisions about what you place in your space is just as important however when you have more space available, but since it’s not such a necessity it often is forgotten and we can easily just add one more thing, a trap I find myself falling into way too often.

I think this space even though small in surface, looks very spacious because of the light color palette and space around the rather small furniture. It shows us the importance of selecting the right items. The bed is used as a daybed during the day by covering it with linen sheets and pillow cases for a light and airy look. The mirror and HAY Tray table as a nightstand (the same one in a bigger size is used as a coffee table as well) form a separation between the two areas. The mirror also makes the room look bigger because of the reflection.

In the kitchen the small round Muuto Base table combined with three Ant chairs from Fritz Hansen make an ideal dining area next to the window. The kitchen makes use of wall cabinets all the way to the ceiling to create storage space.

The space is decorated with minimal and neutral items in general, while items like the HAY trunk vase and the leather armchair give some contrast and character to this otherwise neutral decor.

Weekend cookie baking

post

Sunday cookie baking - via Coco Lapine Design blog Sunday cookie baking - via Coco Lapine Design blog Sunday cookie baking - via Coco Lapine Design blog

I decided to bake some cookies yesterday, a typical winter activity. I’m not such a talented baker (still learning really), but a basic chocolate chip cookie is something I can manage to get right (I used this recipe). Now we can enjoy them with some coffee this afternoon, and cherish a quite Sunday afternoon.

The designers chose to “play with the elegance and luxury from past tense with a semi-circular profile that creates a beautiful relief together with a pure Scandinavian expression”. The foot of the tables are made of lacquered oak panels which gives them a very unique and distinctive look.
