This home is painted in different kinds of grey and the result is just amazing. The living room is painted in a very dark grey, which contrasts very nicely with all the green plants and with the wooden furniture. The bedroom has lighter grey walls, which has a little bit more of a fresh look. I think the combination of the grey with warm tints makes this home look very cozy and inviting.

The bathroom has a beautiful contrast between the marble wall and floor tiles and the black fixtures.

Fresh home with smart bedroom storage

I like this very light and fresh home white all white walls. A great example that walls don’t all have to be painted in grey to be stylish (even though grey walls are so nice). I very much like the built in closet in the bedroom as well. The bed fits inside of the nice of the closet which is a very smart and space saving solution.

My thoughts on lighting with Nest

post

My thoughts on lighting with Nest - via Coco Lapine Design blog My thoughts on lighting with Nest - via Coco Lapine Design blog My thoughts on lighting with Nest - via Coco Lapine Design blog My thoughts on lighting with Nest - via Coco Lapine Design blog My thoughts on lighting with Nest - via Coco Lapine Design blog My thoughts on lighting with Nest - via Coco Lapine Design blog

The weather has been changing so quickly here in Munich and I’m starting to be in an Fall mood. With this season change, there is a lot less light in our home and you can already notice that it gets dark so much sooner than it used to. There is something very cozy about the start of Fall as well and I like to embrace it by making small changes to our home.

When there is a lack of natural light, you have to take advantage of that opportunity and add some beautiful lamps to the interior. Therefor I was very happy to team up with Nest to make our living room ready for Fall (and Winter, but that’s still a little while). I think lamps can change the entire feeling of a room and create a cozy atmosphere adjusted towards the activities you perform. I often work late in the evenings and rather then sitting in my office, I prefer to place myself on the little desk in the living room with a cup of tea. The Bellevue AJ8 table lamp fits perfectly there and can be directed to what I’m doing. It’s a great task lamp that can beam light into any direction I want while I’m drawing, or give an overall glow to my workplace. Lamps have to be functional and easy to use, but it’s also very important that the object itself looks great in a room even when it’s off. The mixture of satin polished brass and the matt black powder coated steel looks amazing while the lamp isn’t in use during the day.

Other than task lighting in a living room, it’s important that you can create a cozy atmosphere as well. I’ve placed the Muuto Control table lamp in our window sill and this piece gives a soft glow to our couch area. The black lamp fits perfectly on the marble there and I like the iconic bulb and big dial with which you can dim the light. To make a cozy setting complete candle light is of course very important too and I almost can’t live without it when the weather is changing so abruptly like it has. The Skandinavisk Ro candle (RO translates in tranquility) smells amazing and is always on our coffee table. When the weather will get even colder, I will make sure to add more candles to create an even cosier look.

All these kinds of different lights combined with the ambient lighting of the ceiling pendant are composed in the perfect lighting setting that works for us at night, during a https://www.nest.co.uk/product/skandinavisk-ro-tranquility-scented-candlerainy day or when the sun just got down. I love that we can adjust the setting to what we are doing and to how much natural light there is available.

Stylish home with an amazing living kitchen

post

This living kitchen looks so amazing. The kitchen island is the central element in this room and takes up all the attention with its dark color. You almost don’t notice the subtle white cabinets for extra storage on the side right? I’m very much drawn to the bedroom as well with the beige tints against the all-white background and the hidden storage area behind the large white curtain.

Hestar & Hestur are two new prints that were released in my shop on Monday. They are photographs of Icelandic horses on a dramatic black background. The big print has one horse (Hestur translated in Icelandic) with white manes and the small print has two horses (Hestar translated in Icelandic) hugging.

You can have a look at all new prints here.

Cozy and inviting home

post

I think this home looks so cozy and inviting. The kitchen and living room are separated by part of the kitchen wall and the dining table which is a nice setup. By placing the dining table on an area rug, a cozy island is created. The bedroom has a nice green-grey color which works well with the white floors and the built-in cabinet is a great touch as well.

Vifa Stockholm in our bedroom

My favorite things to do on a Sunday morning is to wake up very slowly and listen to some music while still cozy in bed. There is something about this weekend ritual that makes me relax and it seems like I  just need this to realise that it’s actually the weekend. Needless to say I was very happy to try out the Vifa Stockholm speaker, which fits perfectly on our bedroom sideboard.

Vifa has been around since 1933 and for a long time they are the preferred supplier of loudspeaker units for many well-known high-end brands. Since 2012 they introduced a range of wireless and portable loudspeakers based on the heritage and technical expertise of the Vifa sound-engineers. The company stands for Passion, Craftmanship and Authenticity, which clearly shows in their collection.

The Vifa Stockholm speaker has a very elegant and timless design and can fill a room with great sound from any music source. The textile cover (made out of Kvadrat fabric) gives the speaker a very soft look which contrasts very nicely against the aluminium frame and the volume indicators are stitched onto the fabric, such a nice detail. Even the cables and stylish remote control have their own little fabric bag, which shows how much thought went into the design of the whole experience around this product. From the sound quality to the looks, to even the box and packaging, everything is thought through.

The Stockholm speaker comes with a wall hanging and I think soon we will mount it on our bedroom wall so the design has an even more streamlined look. I chose the Pebble grey version, which fits perfectly with the grey color scheme that I have going on in our bedroom. The speaker is available in six different colors to chose from.
