I love it when old and new meet and this bedroom is the perfect example of this. The old wide mirror is the center piece of this bedroom and functions as a headboard as well (not functionally, just visually). By adding minimal pieces like the marble shelf and the two wall lamps, this look becomes instantly more interesting.

As you might have noticed on my Instagram (and especially in my Insta-stories), last week I went to Copenhagen to join the Scandi Design Tour 2017, organised by Fredericia and Georg Jensen.

On the first day we visited the brand new Fredericia showroom where we got a craftsmanship and history tour by Thomas and Rasmus Graversen themselves (2nd & 3nd generation of the company). After this we met one of the craftsmen from Tränsjo Garveri who showed us how the leather of the Spanish chair is carefully cut, smoothened and colored on the sides. We got to try out our own keychain as well, which you can see in the 4th picture. In the afternoon we went to visit Space Copenhagen, who told us all about their vision, their design process and their experiences with designing the Swoon chair and Spine Collection. In the evening we had the most amazing dinner on Fredercia’s rooftop and made our own cocktails with the new Georg Jensen Sky bar collection.

 

On the second day we went to visit Georg Jensen and got a tour of the smithy by Senior vp of design Nicholas Manville, who showed us how many hours go into the perfectly crafted silver pieces by crafts(wo)men that are specially trained in a four year Georg Jensen apprenticeship. We saw how the famous Torun Bangle is crafted (only a fraction of the process, as the entire process takes up 10 hours to complete) and even tried a few steps of the process ourselves. After lunch we visited the design lab, where we met designer Aurélien Barbry, the designer behind the Sky Collection. It was amazing to hear the story of how the organic shapes in the collection came to live and to see the amount of prototyping that goes into the design of a single product. You can see the prototype shelf in the last picture by the way.

This is the latest work of interior stylish Laura Seppānen for Lumo homes. It’s not an easy task to make a newly built home look and feel cozy, warm and inviting. Laura managed to do this by using many different materials and textures and she used black as an accent color, which adds a little bit of a dramatic effect to this look.

Mangal is a Turkish restaurant in Copenhagen and even though I would of course love to try out their food one day, I’m mainly inspired by the interior. Just like the food, the space mixes Scandinavian and Turkish influences, which work so well together. I love the blue details on the tiles combined with the deep blue Menu furnishings.

The Krane Copenhagen is a project designed by Arcgency and features a meeting room, spa and private retreat in a former coal crane in the Copenhagen harbour. I think this is such a cool project in such an unconventional location.

Every room in this beautiful home has a wall treatment fitting the area exactly. The living room is painted in a greener grey, which makes this room very warm, but still clean. The kitchen has off-white cabinet finishes, matching the antique pieces and contrasting with the concrete countertop.

The bedroom is painted in a deep blue, which gives a midnight feeling (still my favorite color for a bedroom, even though I have seen it over and over). Lastly, the double desk office space has wallpaper, which makes this room different than all the others. I like the built-in sofa area here as well and the door that was kept unpainted.

The kitchen has a galley layout that leaves a spot for a cozy dining area in front of the window.

Danish design brand Menu just released their AW 2017 images and they are of course stylish as always. The Afteroom chair is now available with a velvet upholstery, which looks so comfortable and with the new collection they also released Eave, a modular sofa designed by Norm architects.

This is the work of Finnish stylist Laura Seppānen for Interface. I like the different living room looks she created in  this studio setup and my favorite is the one with the blue sofa. Also, did you notice that our ‘Room with a view’ print was used in the last picture ?

This is stylist and designer Annaleena Leino-Karlsson‘s newly built home, just featured in the latest Residence Magazine. I like how her home is minimal, but has a lot of warm accents to make it cozy and inviting. I especially like the open living space downstairs, with the floor to ceiling windows. Such a dream home.
