Victorian terrace in London
This home in East London is so suiting and calm. I think it’s because of the different woods that are combined: the hard wood floors, the Wishbone chairs around the living room table and the other furniture spread around. I love the fireplace as well, so cosy.

Deze woning in Oost-Londen ziet er echt gezellig en kalm uit door de vele houtsoorten die gebruikt zijn. De houten vloeren, de wishbone stoelen in de eetkamer en de verschillende houten meubelstukken verspreid over het huis zijn daar verantwoordelijk voor denk ik. Ik hou ook echt van de open haard in de woonkamer.

Classic apartment
What I like the most about this turn of the century apartment is the tile floors. Especially the one in the hallway are gorgeous. Combined with the old doors and the stucco it they really give this home a classic look. To tune it down a little, many vibrant colors are used. A perfect combo !

Ik ben echt en grote fan van de verschillende tegeltjes in dit appartement. Vooral die in de inkomhal zijn heel mooi. Samen met het stukwerk aan de plafonds en de oude deuren, zie dit appartement er echt klassiek uit. Om het geheel een beetje frisser te maken, hebben de eigenaars veel felle kleuren gebruikt. Een perfect contrast!

Light and airy, that’s how I like a home
This beautiful apartment is flooded with light, when of the things I find most important in a home. Especially the living room with the dinner table is flooded with light from the big windows. I also like the pile of books which is made into a cupboard, such a inventive idea.

Deze stijlvolle woning wordt met licht doorvloed door de mooie hoge ramen. Vooral in de leefruimte met de eettafel is het binnenkomende licht heel mooi en zacht. Ik vind de stapel boeken, gebruikt als muurtafeltje ook echt een leuk idee.

Nendo Dress-Up Vase
Nendo made Three flower vases in collaboration with Ceramic Japan, a firm in Seto, an area in Aichi Prefecture historically known for its ceramics. The three forms make up a family: a heavyset ‘father’, a slim ‘mother’ and a smaller ‘child. Each vase looks like an ordinary vase from one direction. Viewed from the other side, however, each has its own ‘collar’. When we dress, our hair and clothing correspond to each other. These vases play on the similar relationship between the flower and the vase.The vases are unglazed white porcelain, for a clean, clothing-like texture.

Nendo maakt deze mooie vazen in de vorm van een familie: een vader, moeder en kind. De drie vazen lijken normaal als je ze van de achterkant bekijkt, maar bekeken van de voorkant hebben ze elk hun eigen kraagje. Wanneer we ons aankleden, kijken we ernaar dat al onze kledij bij elkaar past. Deze relatie wordt hier ook benadrukt tussen de vazen en de bloemen die je erin zet.

Spring feeling
Now that spring finally came through, I’m in the mood for some lovely spring colors. I love these pictures from Karl Anderson for Rum magazine. They are so frivolous,they make me want to drop my work and go to the park (maybe I’ll actually do that later).

Eindelijk, de lente is daar ! Om dit lente weekend in te huldigen dacht ik dat deze mooie foto’s van Karl Anderson, genomen voor Rum magazine wel passelijk waren. De foto’s zijn zo frivool en kleurrijk, dat ik nu meteen alles zou willen laten vallen en in het park zou willen gaan zitten. Misschien doe ik dat straks wel.
From old jeans to soft plaid
By Molle is run by two sisters: Eveline and Marianne Maat. One of their products, the denim plaid, gives a new live to your old jeans. Taking soft, well worn and much loved denim and removing all the hardware of buttons and zips, the fibers are spun into soft yarns that are definitely comfortable but also eco-friendly and certifiably unique.

Zussen Eveline en Marianne Maat van By Molle, produceren deze mooie plaids van gerecycleerd denim. Eerst worden de ritsen en knopen verwijderd, en worden de vezels opnieuw gesponnen. Van het garen laten ze dan in een ambachtelijke breierij deze zachte, unieke plaids maken. De original kleuren van de jeans stof worden behouden. Er komt dus geen verfen of bleken aan te pas.
