The Wishbone Chair: 29 inspiring dining rooms with the iconic design chair

post

The iconic CH24 Wishbone Chair was designed by Hans Wegner in 1949. It was the first model Wegner designed exclusively for Carl Hansen & Son and it has been in continuous production ever since it was introduced in 1950.

The combination of the back-and armrest into a single piece lends the chair its organic functionalism. To stabilize the steam-bent top and ensure comfortable support, Hans Wegner added the characteristic Y-shaped back, hence its name Wishbone Chair (also referred to as CH24 chair or sometimes y-chair).

Over time, the Wishbone Chair has gained recognition as the ideal chair, capturing the essence of modern Danish design. Its many material variations have found their place in many dining rooms all over the world. I you are thinking about purchasing this timeless classic, I have listed my favorite dining room inspiration with the CH24 chair below.

The production process

The manufacturing of each Wishbone chair takes more than 100 steps, most of which are constructed by hand. The hand-woven paper cord seat alone takes a skilled craftsman at Carl Hansen & Son about an hour to create, using approximately 120 meters of paper cord.

This process ensures impressive durability, and stability that make the chair both strong and long-lasting. The built quality paired with its timeless design aesthetics and a distinctive, elegant form, more than allow the Wishbone Chair to stand the test of time.

Wishbone chairs in colored or solid wood variations

Wegner’s iconic design comes in various solid wood variations, each accentuating and highlighting the tapered legs and curved back in their own distinct way.

The Wishbone Chair is available in different wood variations ranging from beech, ash, walnut, and oak, to a teak version recently re-released. You can even buy a seat cushion to add on top of the paper cord seat.

Next to the solid wood versions, Carl Hansen & Son releases the Wishbone Chair in a variety of limited edition colorways and a few lacquered staple colors in their collection.

Wood Wishbone Chairs are very popular and it’s the material version you see most in the inspiring home tours I feature here on the blog. The oak Wishbone Chair has a natural appearance that looks great in a Scandinavian interior and the oak wood has a very subtle contrast with the paper cord seat.

The Wishbone Chairs in oak combined with the elegant Saarinen Tulip dining table in this elegant shaker kitchen are the finishing touch in this interior to me. I love the way you can observe the Wishbone Chair and its y-back from different angles at all times, because of the way they are arranged. A true tribute to Hans Wegner’s design.

The natural oak tone in the CH24-chairs around this simple white table pairs nicely with the light oak of the herringbone hardwood flooring. The rest of the kitchen design has been decorated in white, black, and grey, making the natural oak wood stand out in a lovely way.

Hans Wegner’s dining chair is one of the few iconic design classics I can imagine in such a majestic turn-of-the-century dining room with curved walls and impressive wainscoting. The Wishbone Chairs enhance the look around this unique marble oval table.

When you have a classic kitchen design that can remain in your home for years, you don’t want to worry about your dining chairs going out of style. The timeless oak of the Wishbone Chairs is a few tints warmer than the white-soaped hardwood flooring, making them stand out in a stunning way.

Beech wishbone chair

While the contrast between the oak wood wishbone chair and the paper cord seat is stronger, in the beech or ash wood chairs, the color palette is more uniform and subtle.

While an arrangement of Wishbone Chairs can be very impressive around a large dining table, they fit perfectly around a small dining space as well. The beech CH24 chairs are combined with the round dining table and the soft pink tone on the walls.

Lacquered black Wishbone Chairs

While the ash, beech, and oak CH24 chair tends to blend into an interior in a subtle way, a black Wishbone Chair really stands out in a light palette interior, and the clean black lines of the Wegner design form an elegant silhouette in the space.

Minimal white interior with a dark green kids room

post

While the rest of the rooms in this apartment have white walls and a minimal interior, the dark green kids’ room with an integrated home office spot really stands out in this interior.

The white living room walls are paired up with white and neutral furniture pieces, which is a look that is continued in the connected dining area as well. While the bedroom shares the same white and natural color palette, in this space beige walls are added to the setting.

The dark green kids’ room walls contrast with the white and pink textiles in a very powerful way, which is a color combination that can be observed from the standing mirror in the living room as well.

A minimal white living room setting enhanced with brown tones

The white fabric sofa combined with the white fabric bench, the white walls, and the cream-white fluffy area rug provide the perfect white canvas for the subtle wood and rattan tones in the furniture pieces, and the mixture of beige, brown, and black tones in the textiles, accessories and art prints.

The open-plan kitchen includes a dining table that can be reached from the living room. The light wood tone of the table combined with the sheer white curtains and the white dining chairs provide a subtle and elegant color palette that complements the materials in the living room area.

The bedroom is painted with a subtle beige wall color that brings out the dark wood tones in the bedframe and the bedside table. The white curtains, white fabric pendant, and white bedding on the bed lighten up this space and reflect the daylight coming in through the window.

The dark green kids’ room really stands out in this otherwise neutral apartment decor, which is a great choice to add character to a small kids’ room. The swan head, white and pink bedding, and sheer white curtains just seem to pop out of this dark wall color and make for a great contrast in the space.

Duplex loft with a beautiful rounded window

post

This beautiful duplex loft in Sweden has an impressive ceiling height, which is used for a second level that contains both a bedroom and a home office. The impressive steel staircase comes out in the living room, while the area underneath the loft level is used for the kitchen and a dining area with dark grey walls.

On the second level of this duplex loft, you can find a bedroom with dark teal walls and a walk-in closet with a small home office. The loft level is separated by a glass partition that allows the daylight to come through from the large window.

Even though the selection of the decor and wall color in the living room of this duplex loft is rather simple, the beautiful gallery wall reaching up toward the ceiling is what makes the space unique and personal.

A grey sofa combined with an impressive gallery wall

On the other side of the rounded window, you can find a smaller gallery wall that follows the staircase. These art prints really accentuate how high these ceilings really are.

The section underneath the loft that holds the dining table is visually separated from the sofa area by a dark wall color. The dark grey paint on the wall pairs up nicely with the dark wood vintage dining table and the dark green dining chairs and I love the way the white in the art prints pops out against the wall color.

The second loft level can be reached when climbing up the steel staircase in the living room. The bedroom space is separated from the downstairs area by a black metal glass partition that still lets through the daylight coming from the rounded window in the living room. Curtains are added behind the glass wall for added privacy when needed.

The bedroom is painted in a deep and dark teal paint color, which puts all the attention on the white structural beams that can be observed on the ceiling. The white fabric bedframe stands out against this dark wall color, while the round mirror on the wall reflects the bedroom and makes it appear bigger.

The walk-in closet behind the bedroom also holds a small home office space made with a String furniture desk in walnut that is attached to the wall. For the closet space, the same paint color as the one used in the bedroom was picked out in a few shades lighter, which was a great choice for this tiny room that doesn’t get any direct daylight.

Mixing modern and antique furniture in a small grey studio home

post

This beautiful studio apartment with grey walls is a perfect example of how mixing modern and antique furniture pieces can have such a unique and personal effect on an interior. Especially when you live on a smaller surface, it’s important to add character and to make your home look unique.

The modern furniture pieces in the sleeping and living area of this studio home are mixed with a beautiful antique dresser and a small antique desk. These antique pieces add a beautiful warm tone against the warm grey paint color on the walls and give the color palette a richer appearance, while the modern striped lounge chair adds a trendy element to the space.

This studio apartment with grey walls shows how mixing modern and antique furniture can create a unique and personal effect in an interior

The sofa area is placed on top of a warm grey area rug that visually separates this area from the home office and sleeping section. The rug complements the wall color nicely, while the moss-green sofa adds a beautiful color variation to the setting.

The warm beige rice-paper pendant, the modern striped lounge chair, and the gallery wall above the sofa add a unique and personal touch to the interior, while the radiator covers add a classic element to the space.

The beautiful antique desk in the area next to the window is paired up with two simple wooden boards that rest on wall brackets for holding books and accessories above the desk. The warm wood of the antique furniture pieces and the lighter pine wood of the wall shelves warm up this office nook, while the white bentwood chair stands out against this setting.

Sky-blue kitchen cabinets and tone-on-tone walls

post

The unique sky-blue kitchen cabinets in this spacious living kitchen are matched by the exact same color on the walls for a tone-on-tone look that modernizes this rather outdated kitchen in such a lovely way. The picture ledges on the wall behind the dining table are painted in the same mesmerizing color as well, tying together the look nicely.

The long white kitchen dining table with the white linen tablecloth combined with the mixture of black dining chairs and the dark tones in the artwork adds a lot of contrast to the sky-blue walls with the white trim. These accessories and furniture pieces make the color palette interesting.

The effect of a light blue kitchen in a space can be so impressive whether you go for a light or dark blue color. This rather outdated kitchen was painted in a very light blue color, giving it a unique update and a modern touch against the backdrop of the tone-on-tone wall painted with the exact same color.

The cabinet fronts, as well as the sides, plinths and walls are all painted in the same sky-blue wall color, which makes the black countertop and the accessories on the wall stand out in a lovely way.

The white, black, and natural tones stand out so nicely against the sky-blue walls and the sky-blue picture ledges are perfect for displaying carefully selected accessories and art prints against the beautiful sky-blue backdrop.

The contrasting lines on the different models of black dining chairs add a lot of contrast to the setting, which also comes back in the painting on the wall behind the dining table.

Even though the color palette is relatively neutral apart from the sky-blue kitchen cabinets and the wall color, on the other side of the dining table, you can find a beautiful vintage sideboard in a warm wood tint that adds another tone to the color palette.

The beautiful detailing in the doors and the warm wood tone stand out in such a nice way against the backdrop of the sky-blue walls, accentuating this beautiful vintage piece.

20 creative mudroom bench ideas to add storage to your entryway

post

A mudroom bench is a nifty piece of furniture for your entryway where you can sit to put your shoes on, while it can also serve as a storage unit for shoes or other small items.

Having everything organized and within reach in your entryway can be a huge time-saver when getting out the door, so spending some time to design your entryway optimally will go a long way. You can also include a place to sit down when tying your shoes, which allows you to create a cozier atmosphere in your mudroom.

Below you can find the best mudroom bench inspiration for entryways in different shapes and sizes. Some require some serious DIY work, while others are easier to put together.

A white and beige mudroom bench against white shiplap walls

This perfect mudroom design idea is located in a beautiful Swedish house. The door of the house comes out into a small entryway that also includes the stairs and doors towards the other rooms, leaving limited space available for storing coats and shoes.

The combination of the built-in bench with the closed cabinet and the shelf with hooks for coats is painted white, matching the white backdrop of the shiplap walls in this entryway. The seat is finished off with a custom pillow in beige and brown tones, matching the overall style of the mudroom.

The mudroom storage unit goes all the way up to the ceiling and includes a bench, shelves, hooks for coats, and shoe storage underneath the seat. Since this furniture piece is rather tall, there is enough space available to add a top shelf for baskets to store small things.

The storage baskets below the ceiling provide this all-white mudroom look with a welcoming natural touch that stands out against the white-painted wood.

A small mudroom integrated inside an entryway niche

Most of the benches with integrated storage have cubbies or symmetrical shoe storage underneath them. This entryway bench however has different sizes of shoe storage, making the look unique.

The mudroom bench is combined with a board with hooks that holds a woven basket. Both the board and the bench align with the niche space in this entryway, giving it a built-in appearance.

Note that the mudroom bench is lifted off the floor so it starts where the floorboards end. The custom shelves are painted in the same light grey color as the one used on the walls, which makes them stand out from the white floorboards, door frames, and white painted wood floor.

Hooks on a custom wall plank create compact entryway storage

This entryway storage is a bit atypical, as it includes a radiator instead of a mudroom bench. I still wanted to include this example in the list however because of the way the radiator integrates into the storage module allowing it to function as a little seat.

Since installing a regular coat rack so close to the door would be taking up too much space, a custom plank with hooks was made that narrows down towards the door. The top of the shelf can be used for easy-to-grab items, while the hooks can be used to store jackets and coats.

The wood plank is painted in the same color as the wall, allowing it to blend into the backdrop for a more subtle and minimal effect in the space.

A small mudroom built in a larger wardrobe module

When creating and installing the wardrobe mudroom module in this apartment, a niche space was left open to include a built-in bench for shoes underneath the closed cabinets.

The mudroom bench with integrated shoe storage includes a wall-to-wall plank with hooks for coats and a bench with cubbies. The bench doesn’t extend wall-to-wall inside the niche, leaving out a spot for an umbrella.

The top wood plank has hooks in the front and back, allowing for more hangers to find their place. While the cubbies underneath the bench are quite narrow, the area on top of the wood plank provides a spot for higher shoe models.

The shiplap wall continues up until the board for placing hats and the brass hardware combined with the wood of the door and the brass hardware and bench add a rich material and color palette to this room.

While the mudroom and storage module has a deep blue color, the walls and ceiling are white, setting the mudroom element apart from the rest of the room in a powerful way.

A built-in mudroom bench module as a room divider

This is one of my favorite mudroom bench ideas on the list. The entryway bench with integrated storage is practical and functions as a small mudroom, yet it serves as a room divider at the same time separating the door to the apartment from the kitchen.

The mudroom bench is finished off with white shiplap on the side and back wall, adding a subtle farmhouse style to this element and complementing the decor of the sage green kitchen space behind it.

I think it’s such a great idea to optimize the space available in this small room by creating a little nook with the shoe bench and upper shelf wrapped into the corner. By applying two shelves on different heights and adding hardware on the upper shelf for jackets a beautiful storage space is created to keep a tidy hallway.

The white paint on the shelves matches the floorboards and ceiling and gives this nook a bright and airy appearance.

A built-in mudroom bench with cubbies and closed cabinets combined

This elegant built-in entryway solution has been painted in the same color as the walls for an even more integrated effect in the space. The floor in front of the built-in mudroom bench has a rug, which visually separates this area even more from the rest of the space.

The combination of the large cubbies with the closed cabinets on the top and the hangers on top of the entryway bench provides this hallway with ample storage space and leaves the owners with an entryway that is easy to keep organized.

The seat on the mudroom bench is finished off with a natural stone tile that matches the high-end style of this space. The wood floor and light wood bench next to the mudroom area pair nicely with the color and material setting of the storage module.

A custom mudroom bench in an awkward entryway spot

This asymmetrical niche space in the wall has become a small yet beautiful mudroom bench with two shelves including hooks and a spot for hats and baskets. Since the wall becomes wider on top, the wall shelves are more narrow than the bench itself, allowing the custom module to fit the nook.

A shoe bench and coat rack painted in the same color as the walls and floor

This hallway has cream-colored shiplap walls, which are matched up by a wood plank, and a small shoe bench painted in the same color as the walls and floor for an integrated effect. The bench has two large spaces underneath it for storing a row of shoes, while the top board has many hooks for hanging up jackets and for storing items on top. A single hook on the wall is great for having your favorite bag within reach.

Since this mudroom is quite spacious, a beautiful vintage table with flowers makes for a great focal point in the middle of the room.

A mustard entryway bench with integrated cubbies, baskets, and shiplap walls

This beautiful mustard-colored mudroom bench includes cubbies on the top and bottom, enhanced with shiplap walls as a backdrop and closed cabinets on the top. The top cubbies are filled with baskets, while the bottom ones are perfect for shoe storage.

The bench includes a nice seat, a spot for 10 pairs of shoes, 4 baskets, a spot to hide things away, and two long hooks for hangers, which is a lot on such a small surface. If you look carefully, you can see that small hooks are applied to the board on the side to hang up smaller items like caps.

The custom-painted wood module fits perfectly in this mudroom niche space, cranking up its storage potential to the fullest.

A black accent mudroom bench in a blue-grey entryway space

While most benches in this example are painted in the same color as the storage module above it, in this design, the black color of the mudroom bench stands out against the blue-grey color on the wall and coat rack.

The inside of the mudroom bench is used as shoe storage and the wall above the bench is treated with shiplap panels to protect the wall. The blue-grey floorboards are continued underneath the bench to fully integrated it into the entryway and give it a finished look.

Grey paint with green undertones in a small apartment with white floors

post

This small yet beautiful apartment with white plank floors has the most subtle grey paint with green undertones on the walls, with a large trim below the ceiling to accentuate the height of the small apartment. White floors are a great choice for small apartments and studios as they will reflect the daylight and make your space appear bigger.

The furniture and soft furnishings in this small flat are picked out in a white or light color palette, with a few green plants that bring out the subtle green undertones in the paint color.

A combined living and sleeping space with grey paint with green undertones on the walls

The white sofa combined with the white pendant light, white area rug, and white lounge chair provides the living space with a bright appearance that is contrasted by a few dark wood elements and black tones in the accessories. The light wood coffee table adds a soft note to the color palette, while the greens add a fresh touch to this combined living and sleeping space.

A single bed is placed opposite the sofa. The bed can be used to sit on when guests are coming over and the window with the beautiful fabric curtains separates the two functional areas nicely from each other.

The white linen bedding combined with the bed skirt and the beige and grey tones in the throw pillows pairs up nicely with the grey paint with green undertones on the wall.

The addition of the simple yet popular Ikea Vittsjö desk in black is perfect to provide the small apartment with a home office section. The black of the desk and table lamp contrasts nicely with the light wall color and the green and brown tones in the flower and art print bring out the green undertones in the grey paint in a wonderful way.

The narrow kitchen is just wide enough to place a small round dining table in front of the window, enhanced with two compact wall shelves to store kitchen accessories. The light wood of the dining table combined with the black dining chairs and the simple white pendant light makes for a cozy setting that is freshened up by the addition of green plants on the window sill and on the table.

Just like in the rest of the apartment, the plank floors in the hallway are also painted white. Grey paint with green undertones in a small living room

post

This small one-bedroom apartment in Sweden has a warm grey paint color in the bedroom, combined with grey paint with green undertones in the adjacent living room. The different colors in both rooms can be seen through the open bedroom door and I think they complement each other nicely.

The decor in this apartment is simple yet elegant, with a light palette in the furniture and soft furnishings contrasting against the darker wall color.

The Ikea Eket modules on the living room wall are painted in the same grey paint color as the walls for a tone-on-tone effect with a green plant on top that brings out the green undertones in the wall color. The standing mirror on the cupboard and the hanging mirror on the wall make sure a lot of daylight is reflected in this beautiful living room corner.

A living room with grey walls with green undertones

The bay windows let in a lot of light, which is reflected off the white lounge chair and the white fluffy area rug in the sofa area. The TV is mounted on the wall with a hidden cable for an unobtrusive effect in the interior.

The modest white kitchen with black countertops is a little dated, yet by adding a statement wallpaper above the shiplap walls on the other side, the dining room section becomes very cozy and inviting.

Subtle accessories spruce up the kitchen and the green plants and flowers bring out the green tones in the kitchen wallpaper.

A dark grey bedroom wall color

The bedroom is small, which is accentuated even more by the dramatic dark grey wall color. The white curtains, white bedding, and the white pendant light stand out in such a contrasting way against the dark wall color, while the black Arum wall lights add an even darker tone to the wall.

While the bedroom is painted in a dark color, in the small hallway the paint choice was made even darker for a more dramatic effect. The simple wall shelf is painted in the same color as the walls and the classic mirror on the wall reflects the daylight coming from the other room.

17 Shower niche ideas for storing your favorite soaps

post

Bathroom designs that hide away the plumbing look more clean and elegant and you have the opportunity to turn the wall of your shower into extra storage space by adding shower niches when planning your renovation.

A recessed shower niche provides additional storage space for shampoo bottles, body wash, shaving supplies, or anything else you might need. Everything is always within reach while taking a shower and you don’t have to place anything on the floor or drill to create a soap holder attached to the shower walls.

The shower niche ideas in the list below include a variety of placement ideas and shower niches in different shapes, sizes, and finishes. You can work with a shelf-like niche that is custom-built into your walls or buy a ready-made niche that can be covered with the same tiles or wall treatment as the rest of your bathroom.

A clean and minimal walk-in shower with a storage niche

The beautiful white and grey color scheme in this elegant bathroom is finished off with a shower niche covered in the same white tiles as the ones on the shower walls. By picking out a beautiful selection of soaps, the shower niche becomes a fun and stylish element in the space that is functional at the same time.

The other side of the shower niche includes a towel rack on the wall, placing everything within reach while taking a shower. The mixture of white tiles on the walls, small floor tile in the shower, and marble floor tiles in the rest of the bathroom is paired up with a light grey trim underneath the ceiling that also comes back on the cabinet fronts of the bathroom vanity.

A shower wall with niches on both sides

When remodeling this bathtub combined shower in this beautiful bathroom with a white color scheme, the owners included a double shower niche: one against the bathtub wall and another one behind the shower head, which can be reached from the side.

This way, extra space is created to store products for multiple people or a large family. Both the bathtub and the shower wall are tiled with simple white tiles with black grout, which also covers the recessed shower niches, creating a cohesive look. The black hexagon floor tiles add a lovely contrast to the setting, which also comes back in the soap bottles and the black detail in the shower head.

A horizontal shower niche that continues towards the bathtub

The shower niche design in this bathroom with beige wall and floor tiles includes recessed lighting for an elegant finishing touch. The modern design shower is finished off with a horizontal shower niche for toiletries, which can be used while showering or while taking a bath.

You can see the shower niche when you walk into the bathroom, even though the shower is hidden, which is a nice touch. The white tub, wood cabinet fronts, and chrome fittings stand out against the soft beige tile color and the shower niche adds depth to the bathroom layout.

A shower bench and niche in a bathroom with marble tile

This is one of those shower niche ideas that includes both a recessed area for soaps, combined with a seating bench inside the shower, meaning you can sit down in the shower and quickly grab anything you need from the niche within reach.

The beautiful marble tiles are finished off with a chrome shower head and stainless steel finishes on the seams of both the niche and the bench, making the niche pop and turning it into a focal point in the room.

A beige bathroom with contrasting black accents and a niche in the wall

Both the ceiling and the back wall of the shower have been extended to be able to hide the plumping of the shower head on the wall and the rain shower on the ceiling. By moving the shower wall forward, there was an opportunity to leave out a niche space in the wall, which is accentuated by led lighting making it a focal point in this modern bathroom.

The large bathroom is finished off with beige stone tile and black fittings for a warm yet contrasting look that makes accessories and the white tub stand out in the space. The black marble countertop of the vanity adds another texture to the material palette that makes this contemporary bathroom design look complete.

The stone front on top of the shower niche extends slightly, hiding away the recessed lighting for a contemporary effect. The back of the shower niche is covered with black marble to make this spot for beautiful bottles stand out even more.

A Romantic Bathroom with Wallpaper and beige stone shelves in the Shower niches

A terrazzo bathroom with a narrow shower niche

The shower space in this wood and terrazzo bathroom design is finished off with a narrow and angled shower bench and a narrow shower niche that about just fits soap bottles (that’s really all you need though isn’t it).

The terrazzo tile choice in combination with the wood bathroom floor looks great throughout this bathroom design and different niche sizes can also be found back in the other section of the bathroom. The white countertop on the vanity and the white tub stand out against the tile in a powerful way and create a beautiful mixture of materials and colors in this space.

While the terrazzo adds a bit of a fun element to the space, the chrome fittings tone the look down a bit and add a beautiful finish.

The spacious shower niche in this concrete bathroom design is divided into three levels to keep everything organized. The walls and seams of the shower niche are finished off with micro cement just like the rest of the bathroom and two glass shelves are attached inside the niche for a subtle division that is barely visible against the dark backdrop.

The natural tones in the accessories and objects displayed on the storage shelves combined with the brass bathroom fixtures add a warm tone to the dark color scheme of the space.

Three shower niches on top of each other

The shower niche in this small bathroom space is extended all the way up to the ceiling, allowing three sections in the long niche. When you like to store your products in your shower, you can reduce the size of your vanities this way.

The shower in this bathroom is finished off with simple white tiles, combined with contrasting black tiles on the bathroom floor and marble tiles on the wall of the toilet. The combination of these different stone materials is finished off with a chrome showerhead for a fresh and clean look.

A long shower niche design that extends toward the sink

Minimal walk-in showers tend to be great candidates for shower niches, as there are typically not a lot of surfaces to attach a caddy to and it feels messy to place shampoo bottles on the floor in such a modern shower design.

In this modern design bathroom, the shower niche starts halfway through the shower module and continues over the toilet and bathroom vanity. The beautiful niche is finished off with an LED strip on top and the large mirror above it adds even more depth to this beautiful bathroom design.

A bathtub and shower combined with niches on each side

While this is not the most common solution, in this bathroom remodel the wall containing the shower head was pulled forward, leaving out two shower niche spaces on each side to place bathroom products. This effect was made even strong by picking different tiles for the shower design and the niche walls.

In this type of style of layout, you could even imagine adding shelving inside of the shower niche on one side to create even more storage space for the entire bathroom. You could even align the shelving with the grout of the big tiles to make them less apparent.

A shower bench inside of a micro-cement bathroom

This beautiful bathroom is completely covered with micro-cement, bringing out the beautiful wood ceiling in the room. The shower goes over into a built-in shower bench for storing towels and toiletries and the entire shower fills up the wall.

The black fixtures and the smoked shower glass add a contrasting element to the room, which is otherwise defined by the wood tones and the grey cement treatment. I especially love the intersection of the mico-cement above the bench with the exposed wood beams on the ceiling, showcasing a perfect merge of both materials and styles.

A modern bathroom with exquisite lighting

The built-in lighting in this bathroom design really stands out and gives the space a modern look. The round mirror contrasts nicely with the clean lines of the horizontal shower niche and the concrete tiles on the wall give the room an even more modern appearance.

The shower niche is separated by a glass wall with a black metal frame which accentuates the clean lines of the bathroom design even more. A simple floating vanity fits perfectly next to the shower, with enough white space on each side.

A shower niche with gold lining

This bathroom inspiration includes one of those shower niche ideas that is so powerful in its simplicity. This shower niche features gold border finishes rather than normal metal ones as seen in the previous examples for a luxurious touch in this minimal space.

Even though the shower niche is rather small, the brass seams turn it into a focal point in the space. A single glass shelf separates the shower niche into two sections, allowing access for more storage space in the shower.

15 Antique and Off-white kitchen cabinets for a modern, classy kitchen look

post

For many homeowners, white is the preferred color for their dream kitchen as it can stand the test of time and it will add a fresh and minimal elegance to any interior. Other than regular white kitchen cabinets, however, you can go for antique white or off-white cabinets, which are a popular choice for a timeless kitchen as well.

Antique white cabinets tend to look less flat and they stand out against white walls, all while still retaining a bright look in a kitchen interior. Take a look at the list below to find the most inspiring off-white and antique-white modern kitchen ideas and scroll to the bottom of this post for a list of paint color samples to try out to achieve the looks.

Off-white cabinets and black accents in a classic kitchen design

The off-white kitchen cabinet color in this modern shaker kitchen stands out against the bright white walls and the black hood above the stove. The white marble countertops and the chrome hardware adds a modern element to the room and the open shelf in between the hood and the high cupboard is painted in the same color to create a cohesive look.

Minimal off-white cabinets with an integrated handle

The minimal off-white cabinets in this modern kitchen design add a certain elegance to the space that stands out yet blends in at the same time. The kitchen layout consists of three main modules: the main element with the sink against the biggest wall, a kitchen island in the middle, and high cupboards against the second wall.

The bottom kitchen cabinets have an integrated handle, while the upper ones are push-to-open for a more minimal look. The kitchen cabinets are paired up with a beige marble stone that brings out the warm undertones in the off-white color.

Antique white cabinets and a farmhouse sink for a traditional look

This beautiful antique white shaker kitchen has a classic look, with a white porcelain farmhouse sink standing out in the middle of the kitchen layout. The white marble countertops and the chrome hardware add a fresh touch to the color palette that matches perfectly with the other finishes in the room.

The walls are painted in an off-white that’s a few shades lighter than the antique white on the cabinets. The paint color has less warm undertones as well, which makes it stand out creating a wonderful play between the timeless paint colors. The white trim on the ceiling is relatively wide, to accentuate the ceiling height in this kitchen.
