// DIY Diamond Tote Bag

post

Today I tried out a tutorial from Misusu, to make a Diamond Tote Bag. Even though it took me quit a while to cut out all the triangles, and assemble them in the right order, I’m really happy with the results. If you would like to try out a diamond tote yourself, you can find it here.

For the outside of the purse I used a striped cotton. You have to puzzle the pieces together a little bit, but it’s well indicated on the pattern which directions the stripes should be on each triangle. For the bottom I used a sturdier dark blue (from the rest of the fabric of our curtains) and for the inside a lightweight, bright blue cotton (from an old table cloth). For the handles I used leather from an old jacket and the same blue cotton from the bottom of the purse.

// DIY Fabric baskets & a bracelet

post

I always have a lot of small things laying around on my night stand I want to have close to me when going to bed. This was not very pretty so I decided to do something about that! I tackled this organizational problem with two small fabric baskets, to keep all my small stuff. I didn’t use any tutorial for this, I just started cutting and sewing.

I also wanted to show you this double chained bracelet I made. It has one neon yellow bead and a tiny pink one. I think they go quit well together, what do you think ?

// DIY Reversible Bag

post

This week I made a Reversible Bag with the pattern and instructions of Very Purple Person. For one side of the Bag I used a blue polka dot fabric and for the other one I used an old jeans shirt from my boyfriend. The shirt had a pocket on the chest, which I reused as a pocket on the purse. I enjoyed making this purse a lot. The instructions are very clear and straight forward and I had the bag finished in about two hours. I recommend trying this one out! All you need is some fabric and two hours of spare time.

DIY neon & wood pendant

post

When I saw this wooden bead necklace tutorial at “A girl who makes”, I couldn’t resist making one for myself. I like simple necklaces, so I choose to make a single wooden 20mm bead on a thin faux-gold chain.

I bought the wooden bead and a pink neon paint at a local craft store here in Berlin. I already had a chain (it had a very ugly heart pendant on it, which I removed).

I’m very happy with the results and I like how the neon pink stands out on a plain white or black shirt.  I still have some wooden beads left, so maybe I’ll try painting in other colors.

DIY Passport Cover

post

cocolapine_traveling
It’s always a good idea to protect your passport, especially if you travel a lot. This can be tricky since most covers out there are not transparent and customs will probably ask to remove them when checking your passport.

And that is why I DIYed my own transparent passport cover. It’s very easy to make and the good thing is that you’ll probably have some plastic lying around. For my cover, I used the wrapping that came with our bed sheets.

So, here’s what you’ll need to make your very own transparent passport cover
– (re-purposed) plastic, around 20x40cm
– scissors or knife and cutting mat
– ruler
– sewing machine and thread

And here’s how you make the cover
Cut the plastic in four pieces and place them on top of each other like shown in the picture below. Sew all layers together on the border of the biggest rectangle (go slow when you are sewing the three layers together, so you will not break your needle!)

Put your passport and traveling documents inside and you will have your own transparent passport cover to protect your passport on your many travels.

Happy Traveling !
