Danish design firm Ferm Living recently decorated a suite in Copenhagen’s rather new yet already renowned design hotel Villa Copenhagen. In what used to be the Central Post & Telegraph head office in 1912, the past, present and future come together. The architectural heritage of the building is used for a contemporary hotel setting with suites and rooms in different designs.
The residential suite designed by Ferm Living is designed to be a home away from home and consists of two bedrooms and a living room area.
A living room with soft curvy furniture pieces
The soft and curvy furniture in beige goes so nicely with the light and darker beige wall and wainscoting colors, for a soft and delicate look and color palette. The true focal point of the suite, however, is the impressive gallery wall that has been spread on the entire wall at the small dining table with a mixture of art pieces and sculptural wall pieces from different artists.
The quilted curtains are a true design element on their own and pair up so nicely with the color palette of the room. The ceiling has been painted in a butter-yellow color that complements the wall color nicely.
An office corner with the Feve desk
The office corner design fits well into the organic design language of the living room, with the Feve desk being the center of this functional corner. The design requires little space and fits perfectly in this area of the suite combined with the Arum table lamp and a few delicate wall shelves to finish off the look.
A mixture of textiles and black accents in the bedroom
The bedroom has a rich mixture of textural fabrics on the bed, in the curtains, the headboard, and on the decorative rug on the wall. Together with the area rug and the beige pouf by the end of the bed, they form the perfect backdrop for black accent pieces in the wall lamps, side table, and the details in the pillows.

Black kitchen cabinets are a great choice if you want a contrasting look in your kitchen and just like white, beige, or grey, black cabinets are neutral and timeless so they are easy to combine with a variety of different materials on your walls, floors, or countertops.
Below you can find my top selection of kitchen ideas with black cabinets and while they all have the kitchen cabinets color in common, they all have their distinct layout plan and color palette to go with it. You can combine black kitchen cabinets with stainless steel for a more industrial look, go for shaker cabinets for a contrasting yet classic design or use elements like limestone, marble, or gold details to make your black kitchen more elegant and sophisticated.
A white and black cabinets kitchen with a beige limestone countertop
The off-white painted walls, white-soaped hardwood floors, and white ceilings in the apartment form the perfect backdrop for the contrasting black kitchen cabinets with chrome hardware in a subtle shaker style.
The limestone countertops add a lot of warmth to the look and the single row of black cabinets has been completed with white cabinets on the walls for a lighter and more balanced look. The open shelving and small black pendant lights finish off this elegant look perfectly.
The black cabinetry in this kitchen has been planned out on the top and the bottom for a look that’s a bit more on the dark side, yet because of the contrast with the white walls and the white marble countertops the result is contrasting yet elegant.
The black cabinets show a bit of wood grain and are paired up with black hardware for a tone-on-tone look. The distressed dining table combined with the metal dining chairs adds a bit of a rustic industrial touch to the space, which contrasts nicely with the sleek modern look of the tick marble on the counters.
Black cabinets with an original backsplash and an exposed brick wall
The L-shape of the kitchen in this room combined with higher storage cupboards on the wall opposite the window really enhances the layout and the interior design of this space.
The matt black cabinets pair up nicely with the subtle off-white walls and the exposed brick wall adds a lot of character. Rather than going for a backsplash that is spread over the entire length of the kitchen, pentagon tiles are placed behind the cooking space and the sink area to protect the wall.
Black kitchen cabinets with gold hardware and white marble countertops
This large yet narrow kitchen layout with black cabinets works really well in this space with a full row of windows on the side. When planning the kitchen remodel, the lower cupboards were placed on either side of the layout, with upper cabinets and full-height cupboards completing the design.
The gold hardware and the white marble on the countertop and backsplash finish off the look of this black cabinets kitchen really nicely and add a classy touch to the design. Note that the upper cabinets have glass fronts, which makes the kitchen design lighter in appearance.
Black cabinetry combined with black appliances for a dramatic effect
The combination of the black shaker cabinets with the black hood against the white wall and white flooring in this apartment has so much contrast and frankly has a bit of a dramatic touch.
The upper cabinets are placed slightly below the ceiling, drawing attention to the crown molding. The gold hardware and faucet work nicely against the black cabinets and the little white marble bistro table finishes this kitchen look off perfectly.
A black kitchen with stainless steel appliances for an industrial kitchen look
The concrete beams and pillars give this space an industrial appearance already, which is enhanced even more by the use of stainless steel in the kitchen design. The combination of the lower cabinets and the kitchen island works well in this niche corner and upper cabinets are used solely in the darkest area of the space, where natural light is scarcest.
The white floating shelving next to the stainless steel hood adds an elegant touch to the subway tile backsplash that goes all the way up to the ceiling and the metal bar stools strengthen the industrial look even more.
Matt black cabinets combined with a white shiplap backsplash
The sleek modern look of the matt black cabinets in this small and narrow kitchen combined with the white marble on the counter, the white backsplash made of shiplap, and the beige limestone treatment on the wall and sloped ceiling make for an elegant and interesting look.
The black cabinets are combined with black hardware and black wall lamps for a tone-on-tone look and narrow white cabinets are used in the more narrow section of the kitchen providing extra kitchen storage in a compact space without overcrowding the layout.
Black shaker cabinets with stainless steel appliances and open shelving
This black kitchen has such impressive design details combined. The shaker-style black cabinets combined with the exposed brick wall, stainless steel appliances, gold hardware, and wall-to-wall open shelving have such an impressive effect on the space.
The natural light coming in through the windows creates a soft reflection on the semi-matt black cabinets and the white shiplap backsplash adds a bit of a farmhouse touch to the interior design of the space.

A minimal black kitchen with white countertops
This kitchen belongs to interior designer Elisabeth Heier and is the perfect example of how black cabinets can work in a minimalist kitchen design. The matt black kitchen cabinets have an integrated handle in the front and the exhaust is built into a white casing to match the color of the walls.
The black cabinets stand out so nicely against the soft oak hardwood flooring and the white backsplash wall and the black comes back in the faucet and the dining chairs as well for an integrated look.
A penthouse is an ideal spot for a black kitchen, as they usually tend to get an abundance of daylight. The layout of this beautiful kitchen has been meticulously planned around the sloped ceilings and the black cabinets are paired up with a beautiful marble stone on the counters and on the kitchen island.
The cooking space has been integrated into the marble kitchen island and the sink has been placed in an area with a lot of ceiling height. Both places allow you to stand comfortably, while storage functionalities (like the wine cooler) and other appliances are located underneath the area with a lower ceiling.
Black kitchen with leather pulls and a black wooden countertop
This kitchen has a lot of character and personality because of the leather pulls and the vintage dining table, however, the kitchen module itself has a very minimal look. The wood of the black cabinets comes back in the same wooden countertop for an integrated effect.
The kitchen layout has been planned in an L-shape by the wall to allow additional functionality in the rest of the room of this small apartment. Note that the upper cabinets are white, for a lighter appearance.
Black cabinets with a visible wood grain and a subway backsplash
The layout of this black and white kitchen with a subway tile backsplash has been planned in such an elegant way. The kitchen cabinets are also used as window seat which is filled with a variety of throw pillows. Almost the entire wall has been filled with low cabinet modules, with the exception of the hood which is cased in white fronts.
On the side of the room opposite the window, all the full-height cupboards are located for extra storage, and rather than having all-black cabinetry, a lighter look has been achieved with white kitchen cabinets on the other wall.
Black cabinets with stainless steel hardware against a light grey wall
The matt black cabinets of this kitchen are combined with a black faucet, marble on the counters, and stainless steel hardware for an elegant look in this turn-of-the-century apartment.
The impressive Vertigo pendant above the island is a real focal point in this kitchen and adds a sophisticated look to the space. Almost the entire kitchen consists out of black cabinets, however, the upper cabinets holding the hood have been picked out in a light grey color that matches the color scheme of the walls.
A black cabinets kitchen with black appliances and black hardware
This all-black kitchen has subtle matt black cabinets combined with black hardware and even black countertops and a low black backsplash for a full black appearance that contrasts nicely with the white walls and the exposed brick on the other side.
On the wall, you can see my Crinkled no.2 art print which together with the wood details, adds a lot of warmth to the black kitchen cabinets. The exposed brick wall has a niche space, which is used for open shelving.
Though at first glance these kitchen cabinets seem to be black when you take a closer look at the pictures you’ll notice they are a very dark grey. The impressive height of the kitchen highlights the ceiling height of this beautiful loft and you can see there is a ladder rail installed to reach the top kitchen cabinets.
The warm stone counters and backsplash combined with the gold hardware and the oak wood dining table and chairs add a lot of warmth to the color scheme of this beautiful loft.
Black cabinets with a visible wood grain in a living kitchen
The visible wood grain in this kitchen with black cabinets gives an elegant texture to the kitchen, which consists of lower cupboards exclusively for a lighter look spread out over two main modules: one with the sink and one with the cooking space.
The black cupboards that form the kitchen island are open on the back, turning the kitchen into an open bookshelf on the side of the living room, which is a great solution for a living kitchen.
The light beige walls are enhanced by the beige limestone countertops and the stainless steel hardware with the cognac leather detail finishes off this look perfectly.
Matt black cabinets without hardware and black marble countertops
The black kitchen cabinets in this spacious kitchen don’t have any hardware, which gives them a very clean and minimal look. The black marble countertop and backsplash accentuate the dramatic effect the black cabinets have on the space even further and the contrast with the white paint on the wall is impressive.
The large black cabinets on the wall flow over into low cabinets that are made into a beautiful seating bench by the dining table and the island module in the middle completes the look perfectly.
Black kitchen cabinets combined with beige walls and brass hardware for a warm look
The combination of the black kitchen cabinets with the visible wood grain, the beige walls, and the fresh white marble on the countertops work so well in this beautiful kitchen. The kitchen cabinets on the top and bottom are completed with a tall cupboard on the opposite wall for ample storage space.
The black kitchen cabinets are combined with brass hardware and a brass faucet from Tapwell is the cherry on top of this beautiful space.
Black kitchen cabinets wrapped around a corner for an interesting and contrasting design
The layout of this black kitchen is uncommon, yet by continuing the kitchen layout and wrapping it around the wall corner, an extra worktop is created and the kitchen visually appears bigger.
The black kitchen cabinets are combined with chrome hardware with leather details and a beige limestone countertop adds a warm touch to the black and grey palette of the cabinets and the wall color. The small black pendant lights finish the look of nicely and I love the floating shelves on the side of the high cupboards for the little clipboards as decor.
Black kitchen cabinets with white marble countertops and an uncommon layout
The layout of this kitchen is quite intriguing. Rather than placing the kitchen island in one line with the other black cabinets, the design choice was made to place it at an angle, which works nicely for the flow of the space.
The black kitchen cabinets are paired up with white marble countertops, soft limewash paint on the walls, and gold hardware to finish the look off.
This beautiful and spacious loft apartment in Sweden has been decorated completely in grey, combined with a neutral color palette for a modest yet stylish look. The loft consists of a large living kitchen with a dining room, and two bedrooms, all well-lit since the attic windows get an abundance of natural light.
Rather than going for a feature wall here and there, the entire loft apartment has been painted in the same subtle gray color combined with a few cohesive and strategically placed storage opportunities for a modern look and feel with a classic touch that looks thought-through and elegant.
A spacious living room combined kitchen with light gray walls
The living kitchen has a light gray paint color, while the doors and floorboards have a darker gray treatment which really makes them stand out against the walls. The sloped ceilings have been painted in the same paint color as the gray walls, but the ceiling itself has been painted white, which gives the impression of higher ceilings and more light.
The round dining table, the focal point of the room, has been placed in front of the large attic window going out onto the balcony, which really is an ideal spot for it. The warm wood tones in the furniture warm up the gray walls in a lovely way and the pointy roof above the window visually separates the dining area from the rest of the space.
A living room in warm hues to contrast the gray walls
The cream-colored sofa, the wood tones in the lounge chairs, and the subtle brown and beige tones in the throw pillows add a lovely warm touch to the light gray walls in the living room interior design.
The off-white area rug matches the color palette of the textiles and it also visually separates the living room area from the rest of the space together with the plissé pendant light above the coffee table.
A dark gray kitchen with a quartz countertop
The dark gray shaker-style IKEA Bodbyn kitchen matches the color of the doors and floorboards, which gives the living space an integrated effect. The granite countertops and stainless steel hardware add a fresh touch to the kitchen design, while the wood accent pieces match the hardwood floors.
The layout of the kitchen is planned with the larger modules containing the oven and the fridge on either side, with a split in lower and higher cupboards in the middle. The glass vitrine-style cupboards on the top give the layout a lighter look with clean lines coming back in the shaker cabinet fronts.
Light grey walls and warm textiles in the master bedroom
Just like in the living room, the light grey walls of the bedroom have been softened out and warmed up with a variety of different tones in the textiles on the bed, headboard, and large area rug. The light oak wood of the bench behind the bed and the lounge chair adds a natural touch to the interior design.
On the wall opposed to the bed, you can find a custom-built low board made out of the same dark gray cabinet fronts as the ones in the kitchen. The cupboards have been finished off with grey marble countertops and stainless steel hardware and I imagine they provide ample storage space seeing as they go wall to wall.
A guest bedroom with the same gray walls
Also in the guest bedroom, the kitchen cabinetry comes back as a form of storage, though here it’s a smaller one than the one in the master bedroom. The color palette in this small space goes in line with the one in the rest of the apartment, yet the dark details on the bedside table add depth to the look.
Custom storage in the hallway
The wall color in the hallway shares the same color as in the rest of the apartment and also here the interior designer included a custom-built storage opportunity in the form of a tall wardrobe to hold jackets and shoes.
A light gray open shelf sits comfortably against the perfect backdrop of grey on the wall and holds a few pretty decor objects to finish the look off nicely.
Together with Swedish kitchen manufacturer Nordiska Kök, London-based architect Åsa Hjort designed a minimalist oak kitchen for the scenic ‘Villa Hallen’ in Sweden.
Natural materials for a minimalist Scandinavian kitchen design
Just like the rest of the architectural details inside the house, the kitchen is composed of organic surfaces in oak, grey quartzite, and concrete. The appliances are all built-in to achieve a minimalist look and feel so typical for Scandinavian design.
The natural grain on the oak cabinets and the natural texture of the quartzite and concrete create a vibrant play in the otherwise clean and minimal design.
The natural materials in this kitchen are complemented with hardware in stainless steel, which along with the concrete flooring enhances the modern look of the space.
A kitchen layout with two kitchen islands
Two kitchen islands are quite uncommon in a kitchen layout, yet it works wonderfully in the space. The U-shaped layout of the kitchen consists of a lower module in front of the window, high cupboards against the wall, and an island both on the other side and in the middle of the space.
Rather the fitting the tall cabinets all the way up to the ceiling, the wall above the window aligns with the white space above the high cupboards for a minimal effect with a clean separation.

Norm Architects recently carried out the renovation of a modernist family home outside of Copenhagen with a focus on highlighting the modernist qualities of the architecture, while also bringing in clean lines and natural materials resulting in a calm and minimalist refuge to escape everyday life.
The original building combined stucco with clean lines, not committing entirely to modernism and resulting in a directionless mix of styles. Norm Architects decided to remove the stucco to bring out the streamlined qualities of the structure and to ultimately highlight its minimalistic qualities.
A minimal living room looking out over the lake
The true focal point of the living room, and of the entire house for that matter, is definitely the custom-built daybed by the large window looking out over the lake. The daybed covers the whole width of the wall behind the window, adding such a clean line to this living room.
On the other side of the room, a fireplace has been fitted with a large marble floating shelf, which has only a few design elements on top and really draws attention towards the fireplace itself, which takes a less prominent space inside the wall.
A minimal oak kitchen with an impressive dark marble kitchen island
The kitchen fits the space very well with its minimal appearance. The oak wood cabinet fronts combined with the tick wood countertops and a layout that’s solely focused on bottom cabinets add a simple aesthetic to the space that is enhanced with the impressive dark marble kitchen island combined with elegant bar stools.
Marble and oak in the bathrooms
The bathrooms in this house are a true showcase of luxurious minimalism. The dark marble sink has been built into two oak cabinets for a framed look combined with black hardware and an XL round mirror. The grey marble comes back in the other bathroom areas as well for a dark and minimal, yet cohesive look.

Living in an attic home or loft apartment has so many benefits: no upstairs neighbors, a killer view, and lots of daylight just to name a few. However, unless you are living in a luxurious penthouse, often these apartments are placed underneath a sloped roof, which makes it considerably more of a challenge to decorate the loft interior.
The main focal point of the living room is the grey corduroy sofa, which has been decorated with a selection of throw pillows in orange, grey, and terracotta colors. The couch is strategically placed in the location with the most ceiling height and a sizeable textural area rug lightens up the hardwood flooring of the apartment. The glass Gubi Pedrera coffee table is a great choice for this interior as it doesn’t obstruct the open view you have in this large living room.
In the space underneath the attic windows, where the ceiling is a little lower, a daybed has been placed. Since this is a spot where you would typically lie down, you would not be bothered by the lower ceilings in this spot. A wall lamp is a great choice for this corner since it can be placed independently of how sloped the ceilings are.
On the other side of the living room, you can find a beautiful vintage black leather lounge chair combined with black metal shelving (It’s two Ikea Vittsjö TV shelves combined next to each other) with a classic Louis Poulsen Panthella table lamp and a combination of natural tones in the accessories and art prints.
A black kitchen optimized for the available space
Designing the kitchen layout is probably the most challenging in an apartment with sloped ceilings, yet if you do have some areas where the ceilings are higger, this is definitely where you should place the majority of the kitchen. The fridge and one taller storage module have been placed by the wall with the tallest ceilings, while the lower kitchen components are placed underneath the sloped roof.
The black kitchen cabinets contrast nicely with the white stone countertops and the white walls of the apartment and the mostly lower kitchen layout ensures a light look which is so beneficial for an awkward layout like this one.
The beautiful round wood dining table combined with the CH24 wishbone chairs works wonderfully in the space by the window and a Ferm Living plant box is placed by the window, which is an otherwise dead space that can’t really be used for many other functionalities.
A bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and reading nook
Just like the other rooms in this apartment, the bedroom has sloped ceilings as well, yet in this case, they are used for a custom-built wardrobe that has the same cabinet fronts as the black kitchen.
The area by the window next to the wardrobe has been transformed into a cozy reading nook: a perfect allocation of functionality for an otherwise difficult-to-use nook.
Optimized hallway storage on a small surface
When you live in an apartment with an awkward layout, you have to embrace all possible storage opportunities and that’s exactly what has been done in the rather small hallway of this place. A large mirror combined with a low shelf and a wall system for jackets behind a linen curtain in a niche offers great extra storage space for jackets and shoes.
While it’s a solution often used in small businesses, offices and conference rooms, glass dividers are a great option for residential spaces as well, especially for smaller homes that can take the most advantage of the benefits from glass partition walls: their ability to let through daylight and to make an interior visually larger.
By dividing up the different areas with glass wall systems of any kind, you can maximize space without having to sacrifice a well-lit interior. Usually, glass partition walls remain in place entirely or are based upon sliding doors, and swing doors to offer a more flexible setup.
Below you can find a compilation of different glass partition walls to take inspiration from. If you are thinking about installing similar wall systems in your interior, it’s best to get quotes from local firms as these partition walls are always custom made so they fit the space perfectly and they require professional installation.
A contrasting glass and metal swing door system
This glass partition system consists of two foldable panels that look great open or closed and visually separate the bedroom from the living space without having to compromise on the flow of light. The gallery wall on the darker wall above the bed is a real focal point in the bedroom and it’s nice that this can be admired from the rest of the apartment.
While most of the examples of partition walls you will see in this list have a black metal frame, you can also go for a white frame that looks more minimal and less intrusive in the space. Especially when the walls are painted in a light color, this is a great option to consider.

Large glass partition walls and a single door separate the kitchen from the rest of the interior
While an open-plan kitchen has many advantages, it might also be nice to be able to close off this section of the interior without having to compromise on daylight and the feeling of space. Odors from cooking can be blocked by a glass wall without obstructing the view and the open-plan layout.

Glass partitions inside a black frame highlight the doorway
This minimal glass wall visually separates the living room and kitchen, while also adding a modern and contrasting visual element to the space. The frame continues on the sides and the top of the panels for an integrated effect.

Glass partitions fitted in an irregular form
The open-concept design of this attic apartment makes it feel bright and spacious, yet it’s always nice to be able to separate the bedroom from the rest of the space. Glass partitions are always custom made, since there are so many options, but even more so because of the sizing and special requirements of the room.
A glass wall combined with a curtain for visual privacy
While glass walls are great for dividing up small spaces, they work perfectly when combined with a curtain to achieve visual privacy. The glass wall functions as a divider in this studio home and adds a lovely contrast to the space.
Replace an entire surface with a glass wall for an impressive effect
The glass and metal wall in this bedroom is a great design feature and it’s a great example of how a glass wall can look with the curtains closed. The combination of the black metal with the glass and the textile results in an interesting design element in the space.
While glass partition walls tend to let in a lot of natural light, it also might be an option to combine the best of both worlds and opt for a half-wall half-glass solution. The bottom half of the wall in this apartment turns the lounge area into a cozy nook, while the glass partition ensures that daylight flows into the bedroom area behind it.
A glass window combined with a small swing door in a small apartment
This small kitchen and bedroom space has been divided by two partition walls for a modern effect that lets through so much natural light. The interior window above the kitchen counter has been fitted with open shelving in front of it, which can be seen from the bedroom.
A large glass wall to separate the wardrobe from the bedroom
While glass partition walls can be great solutions for small space living, they can add a modern look and feel to a larger space as well. The horizontal glass panels accentuate the length of the room in an elegant way, while the curtain adds the possibility of privacy.
A glass partition window to bring natural light into the kitchen
While glass partitions usually go from floor to ceiling, it can also be an option to have glass panels in an interior window, just to let in light towards the other room like in this beautiful example.
Without the glass in between both rooms, both the bedroom and the kitchen would look even smaller than they are.
A static glass wall with swing doors in an interior with high ceilings
The high ceilings in this one-bedroom apartment are accentuated by the wall with glass partitions and two doors going from the hallway into the bedroom for a modern look and feel. While the bedroom can be accessed through the glass doors, there is the original door on the other side of the space as well.
Two glass partitions combined for an impressive effect
Not one, but two glass partitions separate the bedroom in this apartment from the living kitchen. The floor-to-ceiling glass partition with a door functions as the transparent entry point for the bedroom, while the interior window on the other side allows daylight to flow from the bedroom into the kitchen.
Note that the glass dividers of the partition wall are spaced out further apart than the ones of the window.
A glass wall with a seamlessly integrated swing door
This one-bedroom-apartment has an L shape, which lends itself perfectly to create a glass partition wall. The door fits seamlessly into the wall, giving it a very integrated look when closed.
Glass partitions and a solid metal component to integrate the bed
To maximize space, the glass partition wall in this beautiful studio apartment is placed very closely behind the bed, while still achieving a beautiful separation between functional areas. The glass dividers are combined with a solid metal component on the bottom which boxes the bed in.
Half partition walls as a visual indication of different room functionalities
When using fixed glass solutions, usually you create a wall or a separator of some sort, however, in this example, the kitchen is kind of ‘framed’ with walnut partition walls on each side of the beautiful entryway to give a visual indication of two separate functionalities.
Glass partition walls to maintain an open layout in a spacious apartment
You can see all the way from the living room, into the bedroom in this beautiful turn-of-the-century apartment, and placing a solid bedroom wall would obstruct this wide view. The glass dividers in between the dining room and the bedroom in this place don’t obstruct the view, while still creating an additional room.
Fixed glass solutions on different angles for an interesting effect
The visual separator between the kitchen and the home office of this apartment has been mounted on two colliding walls, to create a more spacious look and feel. The many glass panels and black glass dividers add a dramatic look to the interior and strengthen the contrast between the light beige kitchen and the darker grey home office.
A solid wall combined with glass partitions and a swing door
The beautiful kitchen in this apartment wouldn’t get a lot of daylight if it weren’t for the glass separation. Low walls were constructed on both sides of the room with glass on top, leaving out a space for a door in the middle for a contemporary yet classy look that matches the architecture of the building.
Glass panels and a swing door separate the bedroom from the living area
The second horizontal beam from the top also shapes the top of the doorway, which gives a clean effect when the door is open, while the dark curtains behind the glass offer the possibility of separating the bedroom from the rest of the space completely.
The glass dividers are shaped into vertically long components, accentuating the ceiling height of the interior. The kitchen is placed in a narrow space leading up to the bedroom, which would look very awkward without any type of separation.
Half wall and half glass panels to divide the space
The glass panel in between the hallway and living space adds a subtle industrial touch to this Scandinavian interior. By placing the wall in this spot, an actual hallway space is created and you don’t enter the apartment in the living room anymore.
Swing doors in a seamless wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling installation
The look of this one-bedroom apartment is spacious thanks to the glass wall that has been seamlessly integrated between the bedroom and the living kitchen for a modern look with added contrast.
The glass window panel in this beautiful apartment has been fitted in above the kitchen backsplash, to allow daylight to flow in from the bedroom. The glass window on top of the bed makes for a beautiful visual element in the space as well.

Contrasting black metal partition walls in a small and narrow studio home
This long and narrow studio home makes use of a glass wall in between the bedroom and the small living room so that the view throughout the space doesn’t get obstructed for a more spacious look and feel.
This half-glass partition looks so stylish, yet it also makes sure the small home office next to the large living room gets natural light. Note an asymmetric placement of a single horizontal beam that creates two different heights in glass panes for an interesting pattern.
Storage combined with glass partition walls in a smart family bedroom and office
The glass panel in this multi-functional family bedroom has been combined with a storage opportunity behind the bed. The glass wall creates a visual separation between the parents’ sleeping area and the one of the kids, without actually separating the two areas.
These glass partition walls remain in place for a clean look with a solid wood panel on the bottom. The bedroom has glass paneled doors on the other side as well for a completely transparent look.

White glass walls and swing doors combined with sheer curtains
To achieve visual privacy in this beautiful bathroom, sheer curtains were added right behind the glass wall to obstruct the view from the bedroom into the bathroom when necessary. The sleek minimal white frame combined with the glass panels adds an elegant look to this beautiful historic space, yet in a perfectly modest way.

Historic wall systems and a mirror for an impressive effect
The glass walls and panels in the doors seem to be there for a long time, matching the historic style of the building. While the glass panels installed in the doors and underneath the ceiling allow for daylight to flow into the bedroom, the look has been mimicked in the living room with a divided mirror for an impressive and sophisticated look.
White glass partition panels in an all-white studio space
The glass partition panels on top of the lower white wall in this space provide some visual privacy in this studio home, all while not obstructing the view too much and without making the space appear smaller.
The white color choice of the glass partition walls fits perfectly with the white hardwood flooring and the subtle shade of light grey on the walls.
A half-glass partition separating a bedroom from a home office
The beautiful black metal and glass partition in this bedroom visually separates the area by the window where the bed is located, from another section where you can find a home office.
The glass wall ensures light can flow freely throughout the space, while also dividing and separating the different functional areas from each other at the same time.
A sleek oak and glass half-wall stands in between the kitchen and the entryway
This half-partition wall made out of beautiful oak wood and big glass panels gives this dark blue kitchen a subtle restaurant vibe. The installation of the glass panels along with the layout of the kitchen turns an open-plan space into modular sections, without obstructing the view from one functional area to the other.
I’m super excited to be able to show you a new artwork that I have been working on for weeks. ‘Gingham’ is a playful exploration of depth and texture and consists of layers of canvas painted with acrylics, creating the impression of a folded Gingham shirt. The artwork is handmade with acrylic paint on a canvas collage.
White interiors are sometimes considered clinical or boring, yet they can have a clean and elegant look if you do them right. I recently compiled a list of the most beautiful minimal yet cozy bedrooms and those spaces are far from boring, to say the least.
What makes this beautiful black-and-white interior design work is the integration of dark wood tones in all the different rooms, which adds a certain sophistication to the color scheme. The hardwood floors in this place are also dark, so complementing them with dark wood tones in the furniture yet lighting them up with white textiles was a great choice made by the owner or interior designer of this apartment.
Black and white interior design ideas are perfect for those who are looking to create a timeless home decor that’s easily updated with a change in the accessories as the black and white tones give you endless possibilities when styling your space.
White wall paint and a black-and-white palette in the living room
The white walls in the living and adjacent dining area are continued on the door and window frames, crown molding, and radiator covers for an impressive contrast with the dark hardwood flooring.
The lounge area is furnished with a beautiful white fabric sofa, combined with an off-white area rug and a bouclé armchair. These solid fabrics add a soft texture to the space, that balances out the hard contrast between the wall color and the furniture.
The classic Serge Mouille light fixtures add the perfect black accents, along with the black contemporary art piece on the wall above the sofa, while the dark wood tones in the organic coffee table, the footstool and the legs of the lounge chair work nicely against the white backdrop of the different fabrics.
Black and white interiors tend to have a hard contrasting look, yet by including dark woods and off-whites in the color palette, you soften out the transition between the two extremes.
A classic color combination of dark wood and white walls in the dining room
The dining area shares a similar color palette as the living room, yet the focus is more on the natural wood tones in the furniture. The dark wood dining table and chairs are placed on a large white area rug which almost fills the entire surface of the room.
The black leather dining chair seats, the black Oluce Attollo lamp, and the magnificent artwork all add depth to the interior without being too overpowering. The bust on the pedestal and the white flowers on the sideboard finish the look off nicely, while the black modern art piece is the true focal point of the room.
A dark wood kitchen on a slightly awkward floor plan
The kitchen has been fitted in quite a small room compared to the rest of the apartment, yet the layout was adjusted to fit the space. The dark wood cabinet doors combined with the beige marble countertop match the hardwood floors in the apartment and the minimal appearance of the kitchen design is exactly what this small space needs.
The kitchen layout consists of lower cupboards by the window and high cupboards that hold the fridge and oven towards the door to achieve a spacious look on the small floor plan.
A minimal black-and-white interior design in the bedroom
Other than the black and white photography as the single point of visual interest in the master bedroom, this space was kept extremely minimal, all while still following the black and white scheme so present in the rest of the apartment.
A city balcony that follows the design language of the rest of the apartment
The small balcony has black and white shades as well, which fits so well with the rest of the interior. The outdoor sofa is resting on a natural hemp rug with interesting textures and the green plants finish off this small city balcony perfectly.
This beautiful Swedish loft apartment has the most amazing natural light coming in through those large black metal windows, which at the same time provide the interior design with an industrial feel that has been combined with a very minimal decor for an elegant look.
The curved ceiling and white-painted exposed beams enhance the loft design and the second level for the loft bedroom makes this loft apartment practical as well.
A minimal interior design in an industrial space
The wide open space by the windows is used for a large dining table combined with Fritz Hansen Grand Prix chairs in walnut wood for a warm look and feel and a large statement art piece decorates the large wall by the window.
The walls of the industrial loft have been kept white, which makes the contrast with the black windows even stronger, and the white paint makes the space seem even more spacious.
A minimal white kitchen that blends into the industrial loft space
The white kitchen cabinets combined with the white marble countertops in the kitchen kind of blend in with the white walls of the industrial interior. The subtle black steel cabinet knobs (from Beslag design) add a subtle contrast to the kitchen and the stainless steel lighting adds a minimal version of the typical industrial loft style to the space.
A cozy living room underneath the loft
Underneath the structure with the second level and the steel staircase, you can find a small yet super cozy lounge area with a white sofa with an organic shape and two teak wood armchairs.
Utilizing the high ceilings so typical for industrial buildings to hold a second level
This is a loft designed with functionality in mind. Combined with those black metal frame windows, the ceiling height is one of the main features of this industrial loft and it has been utilized by creating a loft space for the bedroom which can be reached by climbing the black metal staircase on the ground level.
Since the ceilings are exceptionally high in this residential loft, even on the second level you can still stand straight. By using a glass railing the view towards the metal windows is not obstructed and there is even enough space in the loft to have a small home office added here.
The kitchen storage continues seamlessly into a hallway section
In an industrial apartment, all spaces flow over into the others, which can be a challenge to decorate and separate areas, yet if you make use of this in a smart way, it can actually benefit the layout and the apartment design.
In this case the kitchen modules are continued over the entire wall length, providing ample storage. The kitchen smoothly turns into hallway storage for an integrated effect.
