24 Dark grey bedroom ideas for a moody and powerful effect

post

A dark grey bedroom can make your interior unique, characterful, and maybe a bit moody, yet you can be sure this wall color will set your room design apart. It’s a color choice that typically works well in larger bedrooms that receive a lot of daylight, yet there are some exceptions to this in the list below.

If you are thinking about giving your bedroom a lick of paint, make sure to take a look at the dark grey bedroom ideas in this list. Pair your grey walls up with shades of grey in the accessories for a tone-on-tone look or shake it up and work with warm or cool tones to make it more interesting.

If you want to play it a bit safer, yet still like the idea of grey bedroom walls, have a look at the most inspiring light grey bedroom ideas in this post as well.

Charcoal grey bedroom walls contrast with white elements for a beautiful contrast

You will notice that the darkest grey bedroom ideas on the list are usually on the larger side, or have an abundance of natural light coming in through the windows. The deep charcoal grey walls in this bedroom contrast nicely with the white plank wood flooring and the white ceiling, which is a contrast that is accentuated even more with the addition of the big white rice paper pendant in the middle of the room.

The light pastel grey tones in the bedding soften out this contrasting look, while the black tables next to the bed sort of blend in with the dark wall color.

This master bedroom is painted in a medium grey on the four walls, paired up with warm greys in the curtains, and white on the ceiling and floor.

Mid greys tend to give a bedroom a soft look, especially when combined with natural shades in the accessories as is the case here. The beiges in the bedding and the small artwork above the bed bring out the warm undertones in the paint color. The antique bedside tables, the rattan heater cover, and the black wall lamps really stand out against the soft backdrop of the grey walls.

White walls combined with a mid-grey feature wall

Rather than working with four grey walls like in the rest of the grey bedroom ideas on the list, you can approach the design of your bedroom more modestly. To achieve a more subtle effect, ,you can add a grey feature wall and keep the rest of the walls white.

In this bedroom, only the wall above the bed is painted grey, which is paired up with a mixture of white and grey bedding and grey tones in the art print on the wall.

Warmer greys tend to work great in a north-facing room, which typically receives cooler daylight. This is true for other spaces like living rooms or kitchens as well.

This is one of the most majestic dark grey bedroom ideas on the list. The dark grey paint color on the wall is the perfect choice for such a spacious bedroom that receives an abundance of natural light coming through those large turn-of-the-century windows.

The gold tones in the filigree floor mirror and the bedside table add a subtle glamourous touch to the look, while the white and grey linen bedding add exactly the right texture to the setting.

Dark greys paired up with warm colors in the textiles and accessories

The right grey wall color can create a cozy and enveloping feel, which you can then enhance with a selection of the right complementary colors. The tactile fabrics and soft furnishings in a neutral shade with warm elements add coziness to this spacious bedroom painted with the right shade of dark grey with a subtle warm undertone.

The dark grey bedroom walls are sandwiched between the bright white crown molding underneath the ceiling and the white floorboards that sit on top of the warm hardwood flooring.

A dark soft grey in a small space with an angled wall

While most interior design rules will tell you to use a lighter color in a small bedroom, as it will reflect more daylight and make the room appear bigger, sometimes you just have to throw all rules out of the window and go with your gut.

The dark grey walls in this beautiful sleep space highlight the historic features on the window and crown molding underneath the ceiling, while also accentuating the bright white hardwood floor.

The black-painted vintage dresser with the green plant is a real focal point next to the window and the art print with the orange tones adds a beautiful warm element to the mix.

The black upholstered headboard blends into the dark grey walls and forms the perfect backdrop for the lighter shades in the bedding, which reflect the daylight just as well as if a lighter wall color would have been selected.

20 light grey bedroom ideas for a calming effect

post

Light grey is a great color option for your bedroom walls, especially if you want to achieve a soft look that is a bit darker than white walls, yet doesn’t have an effect on the natural light that can flow freely in a room.

Below, you can find a selection of my favorite light grey bedroom ideas in various shades and tones. The list includes a few warm grey bedroom ideas, which are not yet greige wall colors, and a few dark grey options in case you are working with a light-flooded bedroom.

If you are unsure about which grey to select for your bedroom, I explain more about how to select the right grey paint color at the bottom of this post.

Subtle grey walls combined with neutral tones in the fabrics

This subtle grey bedroom has a grey shade that is just enough to set the walls apart from the white ceiling, the white curtains, and the white furniture pieces in the room.

The soft grey wall color is paired up with a mixture of browns and beiges in the bedding and the look is finished off with a beautiful fabric pendant light for a natural touch.

The two beige table lamps on each side of the bed seem to blend in and stand out against the wall color at the same time, resulting in a subtle touch that is very elegant.

A minimalist grey bedroom with a black accent color

I think this is one of the most simple yet sophisticated grey bedroom ideas. The picture ledge adds visual interest to this modern bedroom with white bedding and black light fixtures. On the ledge, the combination of black and white art prints against the perfect backdrop of the grey walls is a beautiful focal point in the interior design of the space.

Mixing and matching frames on a ledge above a bed is a great way to create a home decor element that is easily interchangeable, as you can just swap out the frames and update them as you desire.

A grey bedroom with a white trim

This grey bedroom has white-soaped hardwood flooring and light wood furniture pieces, which gives it a subtle look and feel. The grey walls make the white trim and window frames stand out in a nice way, highlighting the historic features of the room.

The additional grey accents in the wall lamps with the brass inlay and the grey bedding add sophistication, while the brown tones in the throw pillows make the room warm and inviting.

The green fiddle fig tree in the corner of the room combined with the Monstera plants in the window sill add a fresh element to the space.

Subtle shades of grey and blue combined with natural tones

This is one of the most delicate soft grey bedroom ideas and I think it becomes even more interesting with the addition of the navy blue details in the textiles and accessories. The blue tones are balanced out by the beiges and warm wood tones and the chrome table lamps are the perfect finishing touch against the grey bedroom walls.

Blues and beiges are on opposite sides of the color spectrum, which is why they can have such an interesting effect on an interior with a modest color palette.

A more dramatic grey bedroom with dark grey walls

When you use dark greys in a light-flooded room, they tend to have a more subtle effect, just as a lighter tone would have in a low-light room. The dark grey walls provide this space with a sophisticated backdrop from which the white bedding, white sockets, and the combination of black and white art prints jump out

The green eucalyptus branch and the white alarm clock on the simple wooden stool are essential elements to finish off the look and they elevate the neutral color scheme of the space.

A soft grey bedroom combined with blush pink bedsheets

This particular grey bedroom idea looks extra subtle and delicate as the soft grey is paired up with a warmer palette. The soft backdrop of the walls enhances the appearance of the subtle pink bedsheets, adding a beautiful elegance to the room.

The soft peach tones of the bedding also come back in the feather lamp which adds another textural element to this delicate bedroom interior.

A soft grey bedroom combined with dark green bedding

Grey bedrooms can work well with lighter textiles, however, when you add a darker note like the dark green bedding in this case, the look becomes slightly more dramatic.

The grey tones of the wall come back in the grey area rug underneath the bed, which makes the white architectural elements and wardrobe stand out in this grey bedroom scheme, accentuating the ceiling height and shape of the room.

The majestic white fabric pendant light above the bed finishes the look off perfectly, while also accentuating the ceiling height in this space.

A grey bedroom scheme with vintage bedside tables

This grey bedroom idea combines shades of grey on both the walls as well as in the bedding with subtle black accents in the bedside lamps and in the art prints. This soft grey setting is finished off with warm wood tones on the vintage cabinets next to the bed that stand out against this beautiful setting.

Letting the wall color come back in the bed sheets is a great way to achieve a cohesive base look that can then be finished off with more elaborate design elements and colors.

A light pastel grey combined with warm tones in the textiles

This is one of my favorite grey bedroom ideas, as the green-tinted hues in the wall paint add a gorgeous freshness to this room with beautiful details.

The natural light coming through those amazing balcony windows is reflected beautifully on this greenish hue and the grey accents in the textiles and soft furnishings stand out against the white and beige bedding.

The red leaves on the window sill are the finishing touch to this beautiful palette and the white fabric pendant light fits the space wonderfully.

A minimalist grey bedroom in a studio apartment

While most of the grey bedroom ideas in this list are master bedrooms, in this case, the wall color is applied to a small apartment with just one room. The grey wall color is wedged in between white floors and white ceilings and I love the way they bring out the black metal heater in the corner.

The beige striped bedding and the chrome wall lamp tie this grey bedroom look together nicely and the area rug behind the bed breaks up the white flooring in a subtle way.

A cool grey bedroom combined with burgundy tones

Cool-toned greys tend to pair up nicely with warmer tones in the soft furnishings, which is the case with this beautiful medium-grey bedroom including white and burgundy tones in the textiles on the bed.

Dramatic shades of darker greys tend to make white moldings and window frames stand out in a more powerful way, which is especially interesting when you want to show off beautiful historic details in your building.

The brass wall lamps and the moon print add a subtle yet interesting touch above the bed and the contrasting black accent also comes back in the black bentwood chair next to the white window.

A minimalist grey bedroom with pale grey walls

I think this combination of the light grey wall color and the tone-on-tone wardrobe results in the most majestic grey bedroom ideas on the list. This master bedroom is decorated in a subtle and neutral color palette with black accents in the art piece and on the rattan drawer tables next to the bed.

The white floorboards are relatively high in this space, breaking up the large surface of the grey-painted walls.

Grey bedroom combined with bright colours

While most of the grey bedroom ideas in this list feature a neutral color palette, this space is finished off with differing tones of yellow and red for a subtle bright look that has a playful look and feel in the small space.

This is a great example of a small bedroom that benefits from the selection of a lighter shade, as a darker paint color would make the room appear even smaller.

A subtle industrial chic grey bedroom with a stark contrast

The soft grey tone on the wall in this bedroom interior is complemented by a mix of delicate textiles in white, beige, and red tones and a fluffy area rug at the foot of the bed. The black wall lamps, black-framed mirror, and black side table, however, add a lot of contrast to this setting, giving it a subtle industrial vibe.

The white fabric pendant lamp fits perfectly in the space and attracts the eye to the white molding underneath the ceiling.

A warm grey bedroom with a tone-on-tone wardrobe

This is one of my favorite warm grey bedroom ideas, as the warm grey serves as the perfect blank canvas for the carefully selected elements in this neutral room design that looks like it was done by an interior designer.

The shades of grey on both the wall and the wardrobe match, resulting in an integrated look. The wardrobe doesn’t continue all the way up to the ceiling, allowing the white molding to be more noticeable.

The wall-to-wall curtains add extra elegance to this beautiful space, and the black wall lamp adds clean accent lines above the bed.

Shades of grey and blue tones on the wing doors

A white and grey colour scheme is perfect when you want to achieve a fresh and cool look without a lot of colors. Neutral shades of grey are easy to pair up with any accent color if you do want to introduce them though.

In this particular grey bedroom idea, I love the modest palette of the bedroom itself, highlighting the white bedding, paired up with the blue in the beautiful wing doors. The blue in the doors also makes a slight blue undertone appear in the wall color, which shows the effect interior elements can have on how the paint color is perceived.

A semi-dark grey paint combined with a gallery wall

This must be the most dramatic grey bedroom idea on the list. The darker greys in the bedroom form the perfect backdrop for the picture frames on the wall which add personality to the space.

The sheer beige curtains warm up the light coming from the window and the black wall lamps add a lovely touch of contrast to the grey bedroom. The white antique fireplace in the corner is a true masterpiece that has become more apparent because of the selection of a darker grey paint color.

A subtle colour scheme on top of a light grey color

The natural light flowing through those beautiful historic windows bounces back beautifully on the soft grey wall color in this bedroom. Pair grey with a warm colour theme like the wood bed frame and the nude pink tones in the bedding of this bedroom to achieve an even softer appearance.

The black wall lamp and the black frame stand out in this warm palette and make the look more powerful.

A grey bedroom idea combined with dramatic shades in the accessories

This grey space doesn’t seem to get a lot of natural light, which is why the light grey color on the wall appears a lot darker. The black throw pillows, dark grey blanket, black bedside tables, and the back tones in the art prints add even more contrast to his dramatic look.

A deep grey with warm undertones for a restful space

This warm grey bedroom idea features a darker shade of grey with a warm undertone for a rich palette from which the white bedside tables and linen bed frame jump out.

Deeper greys, mid greys, or warmer greys typically provide your sleeping space with a richer base palette, especially when combined with warm greys, beiges, and red tones in the finishings.

The striped blanket on the bed finishes this look off perfectly and I love the way the grey stripes are the same as the color on the wall.

How to select a grey shade for bedroom interiors

To achieve the grey bedroom ideas in the list, it is crucial to select the right shade for your bedroom space rather than looking for the exact match seen in the pictures.

Cool greys with blue undertones tend to work well in south-facing rooms with warmer daylight, while a neutral shade or warmer undertone works better in north-facing rooms that get colder light.

Lighter shades tend to work best in smaller or low-lit rooms, while you can achieve a more dramatic effect with a darker color.

Try out a sample of the shade of grey in combination with your bedroom furniture and look at it multiple times a day so you can see the effect the different types of daylight can have on the paint color.

If you don’t want to commit to painting your entire room grey, you can always go for a feature wall or paint the part above a paneled wall grey for a more subtle effect.

The blue wallpaper adds a fresh yet romantic touch to this bedroom decorated in light and warm tones. I love the way the vintage-painted cabinet stands out against the sophisticated backdrop and the mixture of beige and white bedding adds a relaxing vibe to this setting.

A small wallpaper section as a headboard

The beautiful wardrobe around the bed works wonderfully in this large bedroom and it’s a great example of how you can use wallpapers in small sections of your interior design. The wallpaper finishes off the wall in the nook created by the wardrobe, functioning as a headboard of sorts.

The beautiful beige patterned wallpaper in this turn-of-the-century bedroom creates a wonderful backdrop for the wood mirror, black wall lamps, and the grey fabric headboard. How to select bedroom wallpapers

There is a large variety of wallpapers available and the design can affect your room in a great way. If you are trying to achieve a modern look, opt for an abstract or geometric design complemented by clean lines in the furniture. For a more glamorous effect in your space, opt for an art deco pattern.

Go for a striped wallpaper design if you want to add classic beauty to your space or go for floral patterns if you want to create a romantic room design.

The effect of wallpaper designs in different bedrooms

The size of the pattern can have an effect on the room as well. Smaller pattern designs will add more detail and they tend to be more subtle, especially in large bedrooms.

Wallpapers with a large pattern on the other hand will be more bold and tend to make smaller bedrooms appear even smaller.

A glass wall partition separating the bedroom and home office

post

When combining different functionalities in one room, a glass wall partition is a perfect way to separate the functional areas from each other, while still ensuring natural light to flow throughout the space.

While glass partition walls are often used in small studio homes to create the impression of different rooms, they can also be used to divide a room into smaller areas which each serve a different functionality, just like in this beautiful bedroom.

A bedroom with a glass and metal glass wall partition separating the sleeping area from a home office

A contrasting black glass and metal partition wall by the bed

This beautiful bedroom has been divided into two main functional areas. The side of the bedroom by the window contains the bed and a big wardrobe, and the glass wall transforms the floor plan into a visually smaller bedroom. On the other side of the glass partition, however, you can find a home office, which is nicely separated from the rest of the room.

The light-soaped oak wood flooring combined with the sheer white curtains by the window and the white and pink bedding make for a light base palette, which has been contrasted nicely by the eye-catching black metal frame of the glass wall.

The bedroom walls have been painted in a subtle light gray color with a warm undertone, which gives the room a warm base palette that is accentuated by the peachy tones in the duvet cover and the warm area rug behind the bed.

Behind the glass: a pink home office

The other side of the glass wall partition is turned into a home office area with a spacious desk and at the same time, it functions as additional storage for the bedroom. The walls of the home office section have been painted pink, which along with the use of the glass wall, really sets this section apart and visually separates it from the other side of the room.

The bold paint color on the wall is toned down by a neutral color palette in the desk and wooden chair and the accessories and table lamp have all been picked out in a neutral color palette as well.

The mirror by the door reflects the other side of the room, yet it also reflects some of the daylight coming through the windows on the other side. Even though the glass partition ensures daylight can flow freely, this is a nice touch to make sure enough light reaches this home office spot that is placed behind the big wardrobe module.

18 Bedrooms with a greige paint color that will make you want to whip out your paintbrush

post

Greige paint colors are a perfect choice for a calm and tranquil look in the bedroom. Greige, a.k.a gray-beige is a very warm gray that can be perceived as beige depending on the warmth of the natural light coming into a room.

Greige is a neutral wall color that is neither too warm nor too cold, which makes it easy to combine with other colors in your bedroom decor. It’s a great wall color choice for a neutral look that has a little something more than just off-white walls and greige paint colors have been increasingly popular over the past few years exactly for this reason.

Have a look at the inspiring greige bedrooms in the list below and find ideas on how to combine this trendy wall color with the right accessories and soft furnishings. At the bottom of this article, you can find the best greige paint colors to try out a swatch from on your walls.

A greige wall color, white trim, and black accent wall lamp

The bedroom in this beautiful turn-of-the-century apartment in Sweden has a beautiful shade of greige on the walls, which makes the white trim, frames around the windows and the light hardwood flooring stand out in a nice way.

The wardrobe is hidden behind a beige linen curtain, which is slightly warmer than the wall color and both the rice paper pendant light and the black metal wall lamp stand out nicely against this beautiful wall color. As a finishing touch, the warm wood of the bentwood chairs and the bench behind the bed bring out the warm undertones in the paint color.

Greige paint colors on the walls and wardrobe

Both the walls and the wardrobe have been painted in a warm tone of greige in this bedroom. The white floorboards and white ceilings really stand out against this wall color and since the wardrobe doesn’t continue all the way up to the ceiling, the room looks more spacious.

The greige paint color is lightened up by the white wall lamps, white chequered bedding, wall art, and the white Eos feather lamp by Umage. The pale oak bedside tables are attached to the wall for an integrated look and they bring out the warm undertones in the wall color.

The interior of the bedroom is kept simple, with a fabric headboard, fabric pendant light, and a large area rug underneath the bed to add lots of texture to the space.

Some of the best greige paint colors to try out paint samples from

Below you can find a selection of my favorite greige paint colors. They include warmer and cooler shades and lighter or darker variants.

Since greige is quite a tricky color to get right and the undertones that show will highly depend on the kind of daylight a room gets, I always recommend trying out paint swatches first and leaving them for a while so you can take a look at the paint color at different times during the day.

29 built-in wardrobe ideas around a bed

post

A built-in wardrobe around a bed is a space-saving solution that combines sleeping and storage in one wall. It typically consists of floor-to-ceiling cabinets on either side of the bed, often connected by overhead units, creating a recessed niche for the bed. It works especially well in small bedrooms, studio apartments, and rooms without a separate walk-in closet.

Built-in wardrobes always deliver a more finished result, which is especially useful when you don’t have a walk-in closet and have to use the bedroom space for both sleeping and storage.

When you are especially tight on space, or when you want to use your bedroom for other functionalities like a home office or seating area, building your fitted wardrobe around the bed can be a great way of combining functionalities and saving precious floor space, which can then be used for a dressing table, desk, or lounge chair.

Blue fitted wardrobes around the bed

This beautiful bedroom with historic details is painted entirely white, which makes the light-blue fitted wardrobe around the bed stand out as the focal point and the main feature of the room.

The wardrobe is built with two main modules on each side of the bed, and hanging cabinets above the bed itself, resulting in a niche space for the bed, which has been decorated with two simple black wall lamps.

The very top of the fitted wardrobe doesn’t reach all the way to the ceiling to not obstruct the view of the beautiful crown molding in this master bedroom.

Built-in wardrobes in a small bedroom

A small bedroom like this one can benefit so much from around-the-bed wardrobes, as there is almost no other way around fitting both the bed and storage space on such a small surface.

In this tiny bedroom, the built-in wardrobes have been constructed above and beside the bed, leaving a space against the wall for a small bed. This result is clearly the work of a professional, as there were some uneven wall surfaces to overcome as well.

The wardrobe modules have been painted in the same color as the walls for an integrated effect, and the niche space for the bed is the perfect place for an art print in the same color.

Side and above the bed wardrobes in a hotel-style bedroom

Since this bedroom is long and narrow, it would have been difficult to fit large wardrobes to fit all the clothes away from the bed. This bespoke solution with double-door wardrobes on each side of the bed, connected with upper cabinets above the bed, combines both functionalities in an optimal way.

The niche space created by the wardrobes is filled with beautiful black wall lamps mounted along the sides of the main wardrobe modules. The overall look of this bedroom has a hotel look and feel thanks to the niche space, the TV on the wall, and the tone-on-tone color palette.

Storage space on both sides of the bed for an integrated effect

While some of the wardrobe solutions in this list require a carpenter, you can achieve a very integrated effect with wardrobes on each side of the bed, just like in this example.

This will create a niche space in between them that can be filled with wall sconces, a headboard, and artwork for an impressive effect in the bedroom.

Frequently asked questions about built-in wardrobes around a bed

Is it safe to have a wardrobe above the bed?

Yes, as long as the cabinets are professionally installed and properly secured to wall studs or a solid structure. Overhead cabinets should always be mounted by a qualified carpenter or joiner, especially if they span the full width of the bed. Flush-close or push-to-open doors are the safest choice for overhead units, as they eliminate the risk of open doors above your head.

How much does a built-in wardrobe around a bed cost?

Cost varies widely depending on whether you go bespoke, semi-bespoke, or DIY. A fully custom carpenter-built solution typically starts from €2,000–4,000 in Germany, and can go significantly higher depending on size, materials, and finish. A semi-bespoke option using flat-pack modules (such as IKEA kitchen cabinets) combined with custom fronts can bring this down to €500–1,500, depending on the number of modules.

Can you DIY a built-in wardrobe around a bed?

Yes, one of the most cost-effective approaches is using IKEA kitchen wall cabinets above the bed, combined with tall wardrobe modules on either side. IKEA SEKTION or PAX systems can be configured to create an integrated look when painted the same color as the walls. The key is to ensure the overhead units are correctly anchored and to account for any uneven walls or ceilings, much like mounting IKEA cabinets on the kitchen wall.

What is the minimum room size for a wardrobe around the bed?

There is no strict minimum, but the concept works best when the wall you’re building on is at least as wide as the bed plus two wardrobe columns (typically 50–60 cm each). In a room that’s 3 meters wide, for example, a standard double bed (140 cm) plus two 60 cm wardrobe columns fits comfortably. The overhead section above the bed can be added regardless of room width.

Do I need a carpenter for a built-in wardrobe around the bed?

Not always. If your walls and ceiling are straight and you’re using modular furniture, a confident DIYer can achieve a very integrated result. A carpenter becomes necessary when you have sloped ceilings, uneven walls, crown molding to work around, or when you want a fully seamless bespoke finish with no visible gaps.

What style works best for a built-in wardrobe around a bed?

The most timeless approach is to paint the wardrobes in the same color as the walls for a tone-on-tone, integrated effect. Flat or shaker-style doors work across both modern and classic interiors. For a more dramatic look, a dark accent color on the wardrobe against lighter walls creates a strong focal point. Adding integrated lighting (wall sconces attached to the wardrobe sides or overhead reading lights built into the upper modules) elevates the result significantly.

31 Sage green bedroom ideas for a fresh yet serene effect

post

Sage-green paint colors have a calming and serene effect on any interior setting. Sage green can significantly impact the overall feel of a bedroom, creating a soothing and restful atmosphere that promotes relaxation. This makes them a perfect color choice for bedrooms in particular, where we go to sleep, rest, or unwind.

A sage-green bedroom wall color comes in a variety of different shades, tones, and hues. In many color palettes, white is often used as the dominant color to create a bright and clean backdrop; however, sage-green serves as an accent to add depth and warmth. Depending on the room’s orientation, you may want to try a paint color with more warm or cool undertones.

In the list below, I have gathered the most inspiring sage-green bedroom ideas. Each of the rooms has a different combination and style of textiles and accessories. There are also practical ways to introduce sage green into your bedroom, such as through bedding, curtains, throw pillows, or decor pieces, even if you don’t want to repaint the walls. I’m sure this will give you ideas on how to decorate your bedroom.

With the right choices, sage green can transform your space into an inviting retreat.

Why you should introduce Sage Green into your bedroom

Sage green has become popular in modern bedroom design, and it’s easy to see why. This soft, muted green creates a soothing color palette that instantly adds a calm and serene atmosphere to the room, transforming it into a tranquil retreat. You can choose sage green walls for a cohesive backdrop or a sage green duvet cover to add a gentle touch of color. This versatile shade can turn any space into an inviting sanctuary.

Adding sage green elements to your bedroom design is a simple yet effective way to promote relaxation and enhance the room’s overall ambiance. You can create depth and visual interest by combining sage green with neutral tones, earthy shades, or even subtle pops of color. A sage green accent wall can be a lovely focal point. Layering different textures and tones of sage in your bedding and decor helps achieve a harmonious blend of fresh and serene.

For some of you, painting the main bedroom sage green might feel bold. You can always paint a less noticeable room in this lovely color. A guest room is an excellent choice for this.

Sage Green Paint That Works With an Uneven Wall Structure

The sage green wall color does quiet structural work here, drawing the eye across an irregular wall surface and softening its angles into something cohesive. Where uneven architecture might otherwise feel like a flaw, the muted pigment absorbs the variation and reads as intentional. Bedding in beige, white and soft green sits close in tone to the walls, so the whole room feels resolved rather than busy.

Sage-green paint throughout your home

While often used for its tranquil and calming effects in a bedroom, sage-green is such a versatile color that it can work well in other rooms in your home. Sage-green kitchen cabinets offer a timeless look that is a bit more unique than a white kitchen, for example, and the tranquil effect of a sage-green paint color in the living room can offer a soothing and inviting atmosphere.

10 cozy minimalist bedroom ideas

post

When it comes to minimalist interior design, there is a scale ranging from empty and almost clinical spaces to interiors with some points of visual interest that make a room cozy and characterful. While I would still call myself a minimalist, I favor adding a few details and decor pieces to make the interior more personal. You can do so by still maintaining a minimalist interior look.

When it comes to the bedroom though, I like things clean and minimal, without too much fluff. With a few neutral tones in the textiles, accessories, or art prints, you can elevate a minimalist style and make it cozy and inviting.

Below you can find a collection of my favorite minimalist bedroom ideas that I find both cozy and minimal. You can find minimalist bedrooms in all sorts of sizes and shapes in the list.

10 minimalist bedrooms to take inspiration from

A spacious turn-of-the-century bedroom with black accents

Through those beautiful turn-of-the-century doors you can take a peek into this minimalist bedroom with white walls, high ceilings, and an abundance of natural light. The wall behind the bed hides away a walk-in closet and I love the way the white linen bedframe with the crisp bedding (H&M has a great and affordable option*) blends into the space.

The dark color palette in the soft furnishings and accessories adds a lot of power to this minimalist bedroom and the dark tones in the velvet throw pillows* and the velvet bench behind the bed really stand out against all the white.

White walls and visual interest in the details

Even though this minimalist bedroom has a lot of details, the base is very simple and consists of white walls, a simple white bed with a headboard, and a white wardrobe. The rustic bench behind the bed and the stool that is used as a bedside table gives the minimalist space a more rustic and laid-back look, which is enhanced by the beige tints in the accessories and the beige waffle throw* on the bed.

How can you create your own minimalist bedroom look?

Remove visual clutter

If you don’t yet have a very minimal look in your space right now, it’s easiest to start with removing things before you start to select decorative items to enhance your minimalist bedroom. Having fewer items in your bedroom altogether will make it easier to keep it clutter free and organized.

Make sure you have ample storage space

A great wardrobe that can hold all your clothes is an essential furniture piece (whether you place it in your bedroom or in a separate room) as it will allow you to keep all items that you don’t want to display organized and out of sight.

Look for a perfect balance of bright whites and neutral colors

White walls are a great and easy start for a simple bedroom design and they give you lots of options to work with a restrained palette, while still creating an interesting look within a minimalist bedroom.

Work with the biggest furniture pieces like the bed and wardrobe in a white or neutral color and finish off with details in subtle tones. You can add simple furniture pieces like bedside tables in black or wood tones and work with the textiles and accessories to create texture and visual points of interest. Remember that it’s easy to switch out a throw pillow, wall hanging, or art print, yet it’s a bit more challenging to change out the furniture in a space.

Before you start working with the accessories, it’s good to decide whether you want to work with dark accents, or warm tones to enhance your minimalist bedroom. Once you decide that you can not go wrong with experimenting until you get the perfect minimalist feel in your bedroom that you are happy with.

40 inspiring blue bedroom ideas

post

Blue is a perfect color choice for a bedroom, as it has a calming effect which is exactly what you need in a space where you mainly go to get a good rest. The color blue comes in a variety of shades and tones and the paint color you should pick depends on the size of the room and the color of the natural light hitting the space.

When you have a large bedroom you can opt to paint your walls blue with a dark shade, while smaller spaces might benefit from a lighter blue paint color.

Below you can find a list of the most beautiful blue bedroom ideas, carefully selected by me. The list includes a variety of bedroom ideas with blue walls in different tints, and tones and combined with different materials in the textiles, art pieces, and furniture pieces.

A muted blue bedroom with blue doors

A muted blue has been used here on all the walls and one of the doors for a cohesive look. The moldings and the other door are kept white for contrast and the blue of the walls comes back in the accessories all over the room.

The rich tones of the art print above the bed both complement and contrast the blue walls at the same time and the lighter tones in the bedding and headboard bring balance to this calm look.

A light blue bedroom combined with beige accent pieces

So far, the blue bedroom ideas in this list were all a bit on the darker side, but you can have a very calming effect with light blue walls as well. This light blue bedroom has a fresh look that has a spacious appearance because of the relatively light wall color.

The white accents in the linen bedding, side table, bentwood chair, ricepaper shade, and area rug enhance the light and fresh look the light blue walls create, while the beige in the art print and the other soft furnishings add a warm touch to the space.

A rich dark blue accent wall

This all-white bedroom features a rich, dark feature blue wall, which creates a beautiful contrast in the space. When you look closely enough, you can see the wall is actually a blue wallpaper or existing wallpaper that has been painted over.

The crisp white linen sheets enhance the contrast in the room even more, while the vintage chairs next to the bed add a lot of character. The black Gubi Bestlite BL6 Wall Lamps finish the look off perfectly and add a lot of dimension above the bed.

A dark teal blue bedroom with beige textiles

I think this is one of the most perfectly balanced blue bedroom ideas you can find. The dark teal wall color brings out the beautiful white trim on the ceiling and the white window frames, while the warm tones in the decorative pillows and the linen curtains warm up the cool tones of the blue bedroom walls.

The camel bedsheets and the beige tones add the final touch to this balanced color scheme and the simple black wall lights add a lovely contrast above the bed.

Pale navy blue paired up with light textiles

The dark, muted navy blue bedroom walls highlight the beautiful crown molding on the ceiling and the overall look of the space has been brightened up with the sheer white linen curtains and the light grey fabric headboard.

The walls in blue pair up perfectly with the warm wood tones in the small furniture pieces and the hardwood flooring. The mixture of white bedding and beige textiles works wonderfully in this space and the single striped throw pillow becomes a subtle eye-catcher on the bed.

A greyish-blue bedroom on a small surface

When you are required to work on a small surface, sometimes you need a bit of a darker color anyways to bring more character to the bedroom scheme. Depending on how the light hits the wall color, this might be more of a grey, yet it’s definitely a grey with cool undertones, which is why this bedroom found its place in the list of blue bedroom ideas.

The small wardrobe has been painted in the same color as the walls, which can be such an upgrade from white furniture pieces when you want to go for an integrated look and feel.

A light blue ceiling in a white bedroom

This might be one of the most uncommon blue bedroom ideas on the list, yet the blue on the ceiling has such an impactful effect on the space. The blue ceiling mimics a blue sky, which gives the otherwise modest interior design a playful touch.

To work with a darker-colored ceiling as your walls, it’s essential that your room has relatively high ceilings so that the space doesn’t feel too cramped. You could even work with a blue wallpapered ceiling to attract even more attention to the height of the room and just like in this example, a beautiful pendant light will finish off the look perfectly.

A deep color blue on walls, windows, and doorframes

This is one of the blue bedroom ideas that have the moodiest effect in the room. Not only did the interior designer select a very dark tone of blue, the entire space including the window and door frames and headboard is painted in the same beautiful blue paint color for a very impressive effect.

The light artwork above the bed, the white ceiling, and the beige bedsheets really stand out against the dark color scheme on the walls and the wing doors that lead up to the bedroom are kept white, which makes it look like they ‘frame’ the dark color palette of the small bedroom.

Grey walls combined with blue curtains and blue decorative pillows

While so far in this list, we’ve seen many blue bedroom ideas with deep blue walls brightened up with lighter elements, a more dramatic look has been achieved in this bedroom, which has a dark color scheme overall.

By using dark blue curtains combined with blue-grey textiles on the bed, a tone-on-tone color scheme is created, which has been contrasted with the beautiful black Mantis BS5 wall lamp to finish off this dramatic look.

A navy blue bedroom with gold and blue accents

The navy blue wall color in this bedroom highlights the white trim, white floorboards, and white ceiling in the space in an elegant way, enhanced by the soft beige curtains that warm up the daylight coming through the white windows.

The white bedding is matched by a white area rug and the throw pillows in muted colors add a tranquil vibe to the space. The blue bedroom walls are enhanced by gold wall lamps and blue accents in the XL art print above the bed.

The home office spot adds a natural element to the space matched by the peg rail on the wall, which complement the warm tones in the hardwood flooring in a lovely way.

A muted royal blue accent wall in an all-white bedroom

An accent wall can be a great solution if you want to make sure your blue bedroom doesn’t become too dark. In this space, the contrast between the blue and white walls has been balanced out by including vintage furniture pieces in warm wood tones.

The beautiful white crown molding on the ceiling stands out against the blue bedroom wall and this effect has been carried over in the selection of the wardrobe as well, which matches the classy white look of the historic architectural details of the space.

Pale light blue walls combined with white textiles and wood tones

A soft, yet fresh look has been achieved in this beautiful space by combining the cool wall color with warm elements. The wing doors leading up to the bedroom are kept bare and in the room itself, you can find a lovely combination of warm wood and beige textiles.

Blue hues combined with warm tones for a characterful effect

I think this bedroom has so many interesting elements. The vintage shelf combined with the vintage mirror looks amazing, yet comes to life even better because of the deep blue wall color. The bed itself has been made with warm-colored textiles and the walls around the window have been kept white to accentuate the bright daylight coming in.

Fresh blue walls combined with white textiles

This blue bedroom has a very fresh tone of light blue on the walls, which has a wonderful effect on this smaller bedroom space. The off-white linen curtains go wall-to-wall and frame the window in a nice way.

The beige, wood, and blue accents throughout the room add a calm touch to the space and the Cestita lamp by Santa & Cole in the window is the cherry on top of this modest color palette.

A navy blue backdrop

The deep blue accent wall in this bedroom design has been used to accentuate the beautiful old built-in wardrobes next to the window. The contrast between the white and blue paint helps to visually understand the uncommon layout of the room and this contrast has been enhanced by using white wall lamps, bedside tables, and bedsheets.

The white art print and the wall lamps seem to jump out against the dark blue, which is the perfect backdrop for the white bedding and furnishings in this bedroom design.

This bedroom design has a perfect balance between the blue on the wall, the white bedsheets, the paper shade lamp, and the green plants in both the window and on the floor. A blue wardrobe built around the bed

While most of the blue bedroom ideas on my list include blue walls, in this example, the custom wardrobe solution is the source of blue color in the interior design.

The muted blue wardrobe has been custom-built around the bed for an impressive look in this all-white bedroom. The white bedding, beige curtains, and beige throw blanket add a warm touch to the cool tones of the wardrobe and add a certain balance to the space to make it the perfect room to fall asleep in.

Pale dark blue and calming shades of beige in a guestroom and home office

If blue is too daring for your primary bedroom, it might be a perfect color choice for your guest bedroom instead. A perfect balance has been achieved between the wall color, furniture pieces, and accessories in this bedroom.

I love the way the warm wood of the little desk, the warm textiles of the lounge chair, and the warm elements in the art prints above the bed are the red thread in this interior, which comes to life because of the deep blue backdrop the wall color provides.

24 pink bedroom ideas for an elegant touch

post

I bet when you think about pink bedrooms, your first thought goes to pink little girls rooms. Pink paint tones, however, can have such a subtle and elegant effect in a bedroom and tend to spread warmth through the interior design that looks sophisticated and characterful without being too overpowering.

Whether you work with a feature wall combined with white walls or paint the entire bedroom in a subtle dusty pink, nude pink, or deep pink tone, the effect can be impressive and the soft furnishings can easily be complemented in the same warm color palette for a tone-on-tone effect.

Pale dusty pink walls combined with white and warm tones

This dusty pink bedroom with white ceilings, white floorboards, and hardwood flooring is an example of how a pink bedroom can also be subtle and sophisticated. The bedroom itself is pretty basic, with a low bed, yet the art prints, accessories, and the mixture of linen bedding elevate the look of this bedroom design.

The dusty pink wall color is combined with a terracotta duvet cover and a mixture of beige and white linen textiles on the bed. The black in the wall art adds a bit of contrast to this look and the red and pink tints in the plant on the window sill are a nice touch in this color palette.

A grey going towards the pink color spectrum for a delicate look with turn-of-the-century elements

The wall color in this bedroom lays in between grey and pink on the color spectrum and depending on the angle one is looking at the walls, the undertones might give you a different appearance, which gives this bedroom with historic elements such a sophisticated look. The crown molding, floorboards, ceilings, and door and window frames are all white, which sets the wall color apart from the rest of the bright white surfaces.

The decor of the bedroom has been kept fairly simple, with white linen bedding decorating the bed and black accent pieces in the wall lamps, mirror, and side table adding some contrast to the elegant color scheme of this pink bedroom.

A pale pink bedroom with a wardrobe in the same soft pink color

What strikes me the most in this elegant dusty pink bedroom is the matching pink wardrobe which has been custom-built for this space going the entire length of the room, leaving out a small spot by the window for a small home office spot.

The dusty pink wall color combines wonderfully with the hardwood flooring, the warm wood of the vintage office, and the terracotta throw blanket on the bed.

A light dusty pink bedroom combined with white elements

The light pink color in this bedroom really draws attention to the beautiful white crown molding on the ceilings. The white elements come back in the dressing table, white bedding, and the off-white area rug for an elegant look that feels light.

The pink color on the wall comes back in the pink bedroom decor of the throw pillows and the dusty pink velvet pouf next to the bed, while the black and white wall art adds a subtle contrast to the pink and white wall colors.

A soft pink accent wall combined with a peach duvet cover

The soft pink accent wall transforms this bedroom into a warm space with a soft glow. The wall color has been paired up nicely with a peach duvet cover, a cognac leather chair next to the bed, and warm beige tones in the art print.

The natural light gets a soft glow through those light beige curtains and the other walls in this bedroom have been kept white for a lighter effect.

Use large pink pillows to create a pink headboard of sorts that complements the wall color in the background. Add some rose gold accessories to give the space a luxurious touch.

A pale blush pink room

The light pink walls in this bedroom add a very subtle effect to the space, which has a very classy yet modern decor in general. The paint color is so unique, and it really stands out from the grey paint color in the living room, so the room doesn’t need anything else than a few wood tones, a single art print on the wall, and a beautiful striped linen duvet cover.

A deep dusty pink bedroom with a pink headboard and vintage elements

I love that the deep dusty pink bedroom walls are matched by a pink headboard. This really adds so much character to the space. Other than the pink headboard, the faded blue chest of drawers and the vintage art piece next to the bed turn this small room into an eclectic mix of muted colors and lovely textures.

A light pastel pink bedroom color for a subtle look

I love pink paint colors that are barely there, just like in the case of this beautiful and subtle bedroom decor. The subtle pink tones of the wall color come back in the art prints as well and the throw blanket adds a bit of contrast to the otherwise light palette.

Beige-pink bedroom walls with a limewash treatment

These beige-pink limewash walls add such a lovely texture to this asymmetric bedroom. Since the texture on the walls is so impressive, the rest of the decor was kept very modest and minimal, with white bedding and a few wood tones to finish things off.

A deep nude pink bedroom with a white headboard

The pink accent wall in this bedroom balances out all the white and wood tints in a perfect way. The light can be dimmed with these beautiful light grey curtains and the pink paint makes the perfect backdrop for the white headboard and the vintage wood bedside table. The pink throw pillows on the bed add another pink element to the space to match the paint color.

A faded pink bedroom with pink bedding

The faded pink bedroom walls in this space are paired up with a grey fabric headboard, black wall lamps, and wood and beige tones in the nightstands and the throw blanket. I love that the pink comes back in the duvet cover as well – this ties the look together very nicely.

A deep pink-toned paint color with black accents

The deep pink on the wall almost goes into the direction of brown on the color wheel depending on the angle from which you look at it, yet it has clear red undertones, which gives it a pink impression. The deep wall color is paired up with a black-and-white palette of accessories and textiles, making the wall color the most colorful element in the space.

The deep pink bedroom wall color in this space contrasts so nicely with the crisp white bedding, the white area rug, the rice paper pendant, and the subtle white wall lamps. Add Wainscoting to Accentuate your Dusty Pink Bedroom

The subtle wainscoting makes this subtle pink bedroom decor shine. Against this backdrop of dusty pink, a beige fabric headboard and a mixture of beige and pink textiles on the bed brighten up the look. The off-white area rug lightens the hardwood flooring and the white fabric pendant light stands out against this elegant paint color as well.

Work with a pink headboard, pink bedding, or a simple pink throw blanket to create a more tone-on-tone look and an impressive effect.

Pair Dusty pink with Gold and Royal Blue for a Glamorous Effect

This is one of the most glamorous pink bedrooms on the list. The combination of the pink paint color, the dusty pink bedding, and the Royal Blue velvet on both the curtains and the headboard make for a beautiful contrast of different shades.

As the finishing touch to the look, the gold details in the mirror, accessories, and the crystal chandelier add a touch of glam.

This gorgeous muted pink bedroom color has the same pink shade on the walls, wardrobe, and baseboards for a tone-on-tone effect. The ceiling in this gorgeous space is painted in a brown tone, which makes it stand out powerfully.

Dusty Pink Walls Warmed Up with Red Accents and Vintage Green Bedside Details

Soft dusty pink walls set a mellow, enveloping tone that makes the vivid red and pink bedding feel bold rather than jarring. The layered textiles on the bed bring warmth and energy, while a vintage green bedside table introduces an unexpected note that grounds the whole composition.
