Formations at Milan design week

post

As you might have noticed on my Instagram, I briefly visited Milan Design week in the beginning of this week. I enjoyed strolling around the city and was able to see so many inspiring things on my super short trip, but one day is just too short to visit everything the city has to offer isn’t it ?

One of the exhibitions that I missed while there is the ‘Formations’ installation designed by Note Design Studio in collaboration with Magis and Tarkett at the Circolo Filologico Milanese. I love the play between shapes and materials and think it would have been even more impressive in real life.

Fumiko by Byon Design

post

These beautiful and minimal porcelain series is called Fumiko and is designed by Swedish Byon. The stylish yet timeless pieces can be combined in several ways and can be mixed and matched with other pieces as well. I love the combination of the beige and black matt porcelain treatments, they work so nicely together for a soft and minimal look that is powerful yet quiet.

The styling you see here was done by Sarah Widman, photographed by Bodil Bergqvist.

Vipp Chair

post

Danish Design brand Vipp just recently release the Vipp chair, available in both a leather and upholstered version. The new chair design features a powder-coated aluminium frame – so typical for the design language of the brand – with rounded armrests and a small backrest.

With the release of the chair, they also introduced a version of the Vipp table with smoked oak woodwork. I think the detailing of the tabletop is so stunning and contrasts perfectly with the powder coated steel of the frame.

A01 by Afteroom

post

The A01 writing board was designed by Afteroom for Lintex and combines geometric colour fields in with transparent elements to create a floating illusion, like a piece of paper hovering within an oak frame.

I love the minimal look of this writing board and it has been styled in such a nice way for these pictures by Studio Lotta Agaton.

Menu Collection 2019

post

Danish design brand Menu is presenting their new catalog for 2019 at IMM Cologne and as per usual, the images in which the new products are presented are super inspiring.  My favorite of the new collection is the Échasse Hurricane designed by Theresa Rand. This is an extension to the vase series that has found its place in so many design homes in the last year.

The Bank pendant is designed by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn. They found inspiration from a vintage-style pendant while strolling through Lower Manhattan’s Financial District. I think this pendant looks especially great in a set of two like shown in the picture.

Norm Architects designed a series of minimal accessories for the bathroom, now extended to a towel, soap and toilet paper holder. These minimal lines fit great, especially into this terrazzo bathroom setting.

Christmas inspiration from Georg Jensen

post

Beautiful and minimal Christmas decor inspiration coming from Danish Georg Jensen. I think the brass and chrome works so well in a Christmas tree and the elements look so festive on a table setting as well. My favorite is the little acorn tree ornament, this is just too cute.

News from Gubi

post

Danish design brand Gubi just released a series of new products for their autumn winter collection and as per usual, their lifestyle images are very inspirational. The Pacha lounge chair and sofa are the boldest new additions to their collection (how cool is the white lounge chair ?). They were originally designed by legendary French designer Pierre Paulin in 1975.

The Gravity lamp shown in the last picture is another new addition designed by Space Copenhagen.  The piece takes its name from the distinctive balance between the anchoring of the heavy, cylindrical base and the lightweight, airy shade.

Ferm Living x Danish red cross

post

Danish design brand Ferm Living has designed a very special blanket that keeps you warm and at the same time supports a good cause. The Enfold blanket was designed to support the Danish Red Cross in their work supporting vulnerable families all over the world. When winter comes, life conditions become challenging in exposed parts of the world, and many families suffer to get through the cold. The proceeds of this blanket will be donated to the Red Cross so they can hand out two blankets to families in need.

Menu Tearoom Club chair

post

Danish design brand Menu just recently released the Tearoom club chair designed by Scottish designer Nick Ross.  The striking, elegant form captures the designers’ fascination with the history of objects – and his knack for lending classic concepts distinctive, modern appeal. Simple geometric shapes and irresistible texture work together to cater to the human body while adding richness and daring elegance to our interiors.

GEO SCULPTURES by JAIME HAYON

post

Fritz Hansen has just released a series of new accessories in their Objects collection and my favorites are the Geo Sculptures designed by Jaime Hayon. I think they are playful an fun, but in a subtile and abstract manner. The dark oak wood adds a sense of quality and softens out the lines of the design.
