Artist Elin Silfvast designed a new pattern for Swedish bedding brand Midnatt and the pictures that came with the press release are absolutely amazing. I like the different graphic patterns against this concrete setting and the great shelfie inspiration in the first picture.

25 years of Trinidad

The iconic Trinidad chair designed by Nanna Ditzel (1923–2005) for Fredericia celebrates its 25th birthday this year. To celebrate this occasion, the brand is bringing out a new version of the chair in smoked grey and light grey oak, which highlights the beauty of the natural materials used in the design.

Designing the Trinidad, Nanna Ditzel found inspiration in the elaborate fretwork from the so-called Gingerbread Facades, that she had often seen whilst on a holiday in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad.

Tondo mortar & pestle

post

Tondo is a mortar & pestle designed by Jessika Källeskog for Design House Stockholm.  The designer wanted to reshape tradition while thinking about a calmer motion and a different form. Tondo is both a sculpture and a tool, something very unique and yet very familiar. If you ask me this is one of the prettiest mortar & pestles I have seen so far and it would look great on many kitchen counters.

The designers chose to “play with the elegance and luxury from past tense with a semi-circular profile that creates a beautiful relief together with a pure Scandinavian expression”. The foot of the tables are made of lacquered oak panels which gives them a very unique and distinctive look.

The Journey SHY1 lamp designed by Signe Hytte for &Tradition is a merge of two classic geometric shapes: the sphere and the rectangle. The round sphere makes you think about the moon and is dimmable and adjustable to every mood. This beautiful lamp comes both as a table lamp and a wall lamp and in different colors and materials.

Nuura is a new Danish lighting brand that was released during Stockholm Design week. Nuura aims to create aesthetic and exclusive lighting that reflects the riches and joy found in Nordic nature. The chandelier is the centre of the collection, but my favorite is the wall light.

Norwegian design company Northern Lighting expanded into furniture and accessories this spring and changed their name to Northern. They expanded their collection with beautiful items in wood, steel mesh and rattan all within the value of the company where creative expression meets traditional craft, and where pale beauty is coupled with rough-cut contrasts.
