Beige and grey living room with a clean look

post

The decoration of this living room is simple, yet carefully chosen and fits the space perfectly. The grey and beige color palette works very nicely with the wood of the flooring and the Fritz Hansen ant chairs*. The round table fits nicely in this corner and combines well with the String System* on the wall which has matching beige and grey accessories.

The area where the sofa is placed looks even more soft because of the light area rug there and the art prints visually separate both dining and sofa area from each other. I love the low hanging Foscarini Rituals pendant* as well and am looking for a similar piece for above my coffee table.

Cozy studio space in a warm palette

post

Another great example of a small studio space, decorated to perfection to fit the needs of the person who lives there, yet not making any sacrifices to style. The warm look of the living room/bedroom works perfectly and I love the way the bed is fitted exactly into that niche in the corner.

The textiles add a lot of character to this look. The sofa is decorated with a mixture of velvet pillows*, combined with a linen throw* all in a very warm color palette. The bed on the other hand has this fresh linen look with white linen bedsheets* combined with muted colors. The hanging linen piece above the bed also works as a perfect divider between both areas.

Natural palette in a turn of the century home

post

Another great example of how a neutral color palette combined with black accent pieces can have such a great effect on the look and atmosphere of a space. Granted, this turn of the century apartment with its historic details is the perfect canvas to begin with, but it has been decorated in such a subtile yet atmospheric way hasn’t it ?

The living room is kind of divided into two sections: a dining area with a mostly wooden look and a sofa area which is more lightly decorated. I really like the simple Ikea Ivar sideboard painted in white. This is such an inexpensive piece, which makes for an expensive look combined with that big round mirror and the Gatto lamp from Flos*.

The beige and grey color palette in the bedroom matches the look of the rest of the apartment perfectly and I love that both beige* and white linen curtains* are layered by the windows. The little workspace in the corner must be my favorite area of this room and yes, this is of course staged and styled for the picture, but look at how much inspiration you can get from these small and interesting objects !

10 inspiring grey bedroom walls

post

Get the look: Black bench from Artek (similar)* – straw storage basket*white cotton bedsheets*grey linen pillow covers*light beige cotton area rug*

Wether light or dark grey, with a warm or cold undertone, grey is a really nice option for your bedroom walls. It’s not such a commitment as any other color and it’s a relatively safe choice (always sample test though). A grey wall gives you the freedom to work with colored textiles as well, which is one of the easiest ways to update up any room and change the look.

Kitchen in a warm palette

post

This kitchen looks so different of what I would usually be inspired by and yet I just can’t stop looking at the materials and color combinations here. The olive green, combined with the beige natural stone and the brass accents in the handles and fittings work so nicely with the warm wooden flooring.

If this wasn’t yet interesting enough on its own, there is even a pink wall peaking through the door to the other room which adds another interesting element to this color scheme. I wish I was this daring with color !

Susanna Vento for Kvadrat

post

These beautiful pictures are the lastest work of talented stylist Susanna Vento for Kvadrat’s new carpet collection,  shot in a historic building in the heart of Helsinki which will also be a venue for Helsinki Design week in September.

I love the combination of the soft wood and leather on the furniture with the textiles and the dark walls of the historic building. Such great styling work !

Fresh white home with a blue bedroom

post

This beautiful Swedish home is both crisp and cozy at the same time. This is quite a difficult look to achieve, since this crisp look can easily become too clean or clinical. By adding a lot of beige and natural tints to the white palette in both living room and kitchen, the space still looks warm and inviting.

The low hanging &tradition Formakami pendant* looks great above the coffee table and the soft grey area rug creates a softer looking area there. Both the living room and kitchen dining table have a nice contrast of black, white and natural tints and they both look very inviting to me.

The bedroom must be my personal favorite room of this apartment and this is mainly because of the deep faded blue wall color that peaks through even from the other room. The white bedding with the black piping* contrasts very nicely with the dark walls and the blue linen pillows* are a great match to the wall paint.

Bedroom behind a glass partition

post

A glass partition can be a great way to separate rooms without losing daylight in one of the two rooms, however, all this glass can also cause a lack of privacy of course. In this bedroom, this problem was solved by adding a large linen curtain over the entire width of the glass partition. The linen creates privacy and adds a nice cozy texture that goes so well with the white and beige bed linen*.

The red lantern adds an extra touch of character and makes this room super cozy.
