Majestic living kitchen

post

I think this is such a beautiful combined kitchen and living space, don’t you think? The warm grey cabinet fronts work so nicely together with the marble countertop and the brass finish of the faucet. The kitchen island with the stove features a black base, which contrasts even more with the white marble and matches the beautiful Flos wall lamp lighting up this surface.

The oval dining table on the other side of the kitchen island works wonderfully in this corner and makes the layout of the space work in a very nice way. On the other side of the space, you can find the sofa area, which is almost completeley covered with a large fluffy area rug that makes the brown leather sofa’s stand out. I love the way the TV has been built into the custom made book shelf, it gives the space a finished look.

Autumn news from H&M Home in soft tones

post

I love how the catalog images from H&M Home are always so on point and this isn’t any different for their pre-fall collection, which has beautiful soft beige tones. In the collection itself, it’s the organic objects* that stand out the most to me.

I love the living room setup especially, which has lots of beige tones in the furniture and the architectural details, which forms the perfect setting for the carefully selected textiles and objects. How cool is this built in vitrine against the wall ? This just makes every single object special in my opinion.

The bathroom and bedroom are decorated in such a nice way as well, with light and natural objects for a look that works serene and calming.

Grey kitchen with round dining table

post

I love being able to eat dinner in the kitchen. I have it like this in my own apartment as well and I think the kitchen then automatically becomes the center of your home, where you gather around the dining table. This simple grey Ikea kitchen is combined with white tiles going all the way up to the ceiling and open shelving in oak wood to display ceramics and accessories. I love how the oak wood of the shelves comes back in the round dining table and the bentwood chairs.

Since the floor and walls are white and the kitchen is grey, the wooden surfaces really warm up the space.

Bemz Tactile collection

post

I think most of you know Bemz, the Swedish manufacturer of fabric covers for Ikea furniture. They recenlty came out with the Tactile collection, which is a retro yet relevant collection consisting of bouclé, teddy, and tweed. These trendy textures are great for prolonging the life of your IKEA furniture in an iconic way.

The Bouclé fabric has made a comeback over the last year, for both fashion and interior designers. It has a timeless elegance to it and adds a sophisticated touch to the interior. The voluminous Teddy fabric is inspired by iconic designs of the 40s and 50s and adds a bit of playfulness to your decor and lastly the Tweed fabric, the handsome cousin of flannel, is both durable and fashionable to revive your living space with.

Cozy home in beige

post

I absolutely love the different shades of beige in this beautiful Swedish apartment. The living room lies between the kitchen and the bedroom and I love that you can see into the other rooms. The different shades of beige on the wall in the bedroom come peeking through on one side and the partially exposed brick wall of the kitchen is visible when looking through the other doorway. The living room itself has a very modest decor with a lovely combination of textures and patterns in the art prints and pillowcases on the sofa.

The kitchen has an awkward corner next to the high cabinet, which has been purposefully highlighted by exposing part of the brick wall. I love the contrast of the red bricks with the clean white cabinet fronts with black hardware and white subway tile backsplash of the kitchen. The dining table fits perfectly in this kitchen layout as well and the spot in front of the window seems like the prime spot for your first cup of coffee in the morning.

The bedroom has a simple decor, but I love the way the black and beige textiles on the bed work in the room and add a bit of contrast.

Ferm Living AW2021

post

Danish design firm Ferm Living just released their new autumn and winter collection and it has been photographed in a beautiful location as the backdrop for their warm and cozy pieces. Their new collection celebrates the art of hosting, which is what we do more often now that the leafs start to fall and temperatures start to decrease.

One of my favorites from the collection is the Mineral sculptural table, which can be used as side table or as a decorative sculpture. It’s made out of bianco curia marble, and the edges are broken by hand with a chisel, making each table unique. Contrasting with this brutalist rough marble shape, is the organic shape of the beautiful Oyster Wall lamp made out of recylced aluminium. It has a decorative, organic shape due to its soft, lively curves and makes you think about an oyster, hence the name.

The Holo vase is handmade from solid glass and has a fluid, organic form that has been sculpted by human hands, stretching and shaping the elevated spires during the melting process and ensuring that each individual piece is unique. And lastly the Feve desk contributes to the overal organic design language of this beautiful new collection. As a reference to the distinctive shape, its name comes from the French word Fève, which means bean. The legs are carved into stretched elliptical shapes that emphasise the desk’s elegant, feminine silhouette and balance the design.

Cozy home with character and personality

post

Are you a minimalist? I don’t like to keep stuff that I don’t need or like, but in decorating I’m not exactly a minimalist. I like to make things cozy and work with lots of small accessories to add character and personality to my home and I can get the same vibe from this beautiful Swedish studio home.

The kitchen and living area are located in the same room, where the large and fluffy area rug has been used to divide the two areas. I love the way the textiles work together in the sofa area. The beige of the sofa pairs up so nicely with the rug and the sheepskin on the armchair, which is finished off perfectly with the sheer white linen curtains* on the windows. The black kitchen adds a lot of contrast to this space and note the upper cabinets are kept white for a lighter look, which makes a lot of sense in this rather small space. The vintage dining table fits this corner perfectly as well and I love the combination with the white Menu afteroom chairs and the black DCW Editions Mantis wall lamp.

The small bedroom has two smart built-in storage solutions and I love the way the black wall mimics the black palette of the kitchen. The little bench in combination with the oval mirror works really nicely as well and I love the way the mirror reflects the black wall.

Lastly, in the hallway we can find a really smart storage solution behind the mirror. We usually need a mirror in the hallway, so it’s very smart to integrate it in the door behind which the wardrobe is hidden.

New Concept showroom from Nordiska Kök

post

Swedish Nordiska Kök is known for its bespoke kitchens, and their projects are always styled and photographed by very talented professionals. Their account on Instagram became very popular as well and is a true source of inspiration. I like to browse through their images to find ideas for the best objects to style a kitchen for example.

Their latest concept showroom lets customers be inspired just like on Instagram, but then in a physical and tangible world.  “We want to invite our customers to our world. They should be able to take the step from Instagram straight into our Concept showroom and experience the same feeling of inspiration that we offer in our social channels”, says Johan Lundkvist, founder and Creative Director.

The showroom, located in Stockholm, is decorated in collaboration with the Danish top stylist Marie Graunbøl, who has handpicked details from her favorite brands like Apato Ceramics, Sabre Paris, StudioX, Tadaima, Blomus, Broste Copenhagen, among others.

Amanda Axelsson’s home for sale

post

I follow Amanda Axelssson for a long while now on Instagram and I love her no-nonsense approach in decorating her beautiful home in a way that is minimal, yet elegant. She is now selling her beautiful turn-of-the-century apartment and it’s a great chance to look around in her interior. The entire place has been painted in a warm grey color, which varies in tint throughout and the custom built-in modules in the living room and hallway have been painted in the same color for a tone-on-tone look.

I love the long built-in cabinet in the living room especially, where the TV doesn’t look out of place. She paired it up with two white linen sofa’s and a large white area rug. I think the round mirror on the wall in the living room combined with the pedestal and the vase looks wonderful as well. Such a simple decor that has such power at the same time.

The dining table has a very nice spot in front of these two large windows in the kitchen and I love the way the black dining chairs contrast with the wood of the table. The contrasting black accent pieces come back in one way or the other in every room of the apartment, which is such a lovely red (or black) thread.

Stylish attic apartment with a strange layout

post

This attic home has a very strange layout, which is difficult to decorate to say the least. For starters there are so many different angles in the ceiling, with lower areas to take into account where you can’t stand and to add to this the rooms don’t really have straight walls either, which makes it difficult to find the right spot for your furniture. That said though, I think the layout of this home works so nicely and I think the perfect setup was found with the kitchen that wraps around the wall and the built-in cabinets in the same style in the living kitchen for extra storage.

I love the wood-paneled wall, which adds extra dimension to this space and the large mirror leaning against it reflects the light and the room, making the apartment seem bigger. In the bedroom, the same effect was achieved with a beautiful curved mirror and I love that there is a spot for a little home office. By picking out a desk that hangs on the wall, a lot of space is saved and you still create a lovely spot to get some work done.
