I absolutely love the difference in color palette between the living room and bedroom in this Swedish apartment. The living room has a beautiful beige palette with a beige area rug that adds a lot of texture to the interior and a beige paper shade lamp that adds a subtle touch to the space.
The adjacent bedroom has a fresh blue color on the wall, which you can see from the living room. I love this play between cool and warm colors which results in a cozy yet fresh decor.
As you might have read on my Instagram, a few weeks ago I was in Belgium for the first time in months, and since I will be spending time there more regularly now that traveling is easier, I decided to decorate a home there where I can stay comfortably. My sister and her husband let me decorate a part of their home as mine, which is so exciting. The house itself has such great features and I’m most in love with the windows, which let in such a beautiful natural light. The room with the white floors will be a living area with a little kitchen, where I will also include a little desk area, this all still needs to be built though, I will make sure to keep you up to date about this.
The bedroom has these beautiful wood beams and an old fireplace which I’m using as a nightstand. It’s so lovely to have another home to decorate and even though there is still so much planning and renovating to be done, I’m super excited about this.
I think living underneath the rooftop can be such an advantage: you get the best sunlight, can look up at the sky from your windows and there are no upstairs neighbors. It can however also be a little bit challenging to decorate a rooftop apartment because of the angled walls you have to work with.
The big open loft space on the lower level of the apartment is used for the kitchen, dining, and living area. I love the way you can look all the way until the end of this space without any walls in between. The beams of the architecture have a dark wood color, that contrast nicely against the white walls. The interior itself has been kept in light (or white) colors with a few black or dark brown accents in the furniture and accessories to match with the color palette of the walls and ceiling. The green plants throughout the interior add a fresh touch as well.
The kitchen has been placed next to the hallway going to the dining room and I love that there is space for a kitchen island in the middle. The kitchen is the center of this living area with the living and dining room on each side. I love the closed pantry which has been built into the corner of the kitchen as well.
The bedroom and guest rooms share the same color palette as the rest of the apartment and I think the main bedroom especially makes good use of the rather awkward layout of the space. The bed has been placed in the niche underneath the rooftop and the area in front of the window is a great spot for a little workplace (look at the view you have while working!).
This Swedish apartment has gorgeous turn-of-the-century features, but what stands out to me the most is the artwork that seems to have found a place in every single room. The beautiful grey kitchen with a combination of open and closed shelving has a dark grey natural stone countertop and subtle chrome details. The objects on the open shelves are very carefully chosen and the space in front of the window is used for a vintage round dining table and chairs. The artwork with the wine glasses really stands out on this grey wall and works so nicely with the distressed wood of the dining table and the clean lines of the kitchen.
The living room has a very light look, with a dark blue sofa and the Linnea Andersson blanket in blue* which really stands out in combination with the blue artwork above it. The blue of the sofa has been matched with canvas and leather armchairs and furniture and artwork in an overall natural color palette. The sofa and blanket are the real eye-catchers here, though I think the artwork adds a really nice touch and a variety in texture on the wall.
The bedroom has been painted in a pale blue (including the vintage dresser) and I feel like the color choice has been based upon the artwork of the flowers on the wall. I love the way the artwork blends into the wall, yet also stands out in a way. The beige curtains* and the beige Linnea Andersson blanket* warm up the look in the bedroom and I love the light blue bust on top of the dresser.
Finally, the guest bedroom has been painted in a subtle grey color, from which the yellow Linnea Andersson blanket* really stands out. I think either the stylist or the owner of this place is a real Linnea Andersson fan, which is understandable because her artwork is so simple, yet eye-catching. The small workspace in the guest room looks like it’s made for that space beside the door and the full-length mirror makes the space visually bigger.
I think this apartment has so much style and character. The black hardwood flooring adds a powerful contrast to the space, which has been decorated in light beiges and soft area rugs to soften out the dark color of the flooring. The living area has a beautiful white and fluffy rug, which matches perfectly with the lambskin butterfly chair and stool. The glass coffee table looks subtle and light, making the textures in the space shine. The warm beige curtains* in front of the window go well with the beige tone of the walls and the dusty pink color of the fabric sofa.
The kitchen has been built in the niche space of the living area, which also fits a dining table. The beige cabinet fronts of the kitchen match well with the overall look of the interior and I love that the wood accessories on the countertop match the wood of the dining chairs.
The kitchen is separate from the rest of the space with a deep green velvet curtain, which is such a statement in this otherwise neutral palette. Apart from the main bedroom, there is a guest room as well, which serves as a home office at the same time. I love the beige palette with the black accents here, it works great on its own and also together with the rest of the interior.
I think this duplex apartment has such a subtle, yet rich color palette that adds so much coziness and character to this space. The living area has a beige wall color, which is matched with the large fluffy area rug underneath the sofa. The rug adds warmth, but also a lot of texture, which has such a great effect on this room. In front of the window, you can find a small vintage desk and this area seems like the perfect little spot to get some work done. I think the red plant in the window looks so impressive as well and I love the way it contrasts with the blue in the art print.
The kitchen has a small dining area, which is placed in front of the window, and also here the color palette is perfectly on point. The copper of the pedant light matches so nicely with the pink of the curtains* in front of the window and the round wooden ding table combined with the black bentwood chairs adds the perfect amount of contrast to this soft pink fabric.
The bedroom is upstairs underneath the angled roof and also here you can find touches of pink as a reference to the kitchen. From the bedroom, you can walk onto a balcony, which must be so nice in summer.
I think this cozy studio home is decorated in such a lovely way, with so much attention to detail. I love how every single detail in this styling is so carefully chosen. Even though the color palette has been kept rather neutral, the mixture of textiles, textures, and materials makes for an interesting and inviting look. The living area is used as a bedroom as well, but I imagine the bed is also used as a second sofa when more people are visiting. A narrow bench is used as a coffee table, which leaves plenty of free space around it for a more spacious look. The subtle linen curtains* in front of the windows blend out the light in a lovely way and I love the mixture of linen pillow cases* on the sofa in the same colors as the gallery wall above it.
There is still space for a small office desk in the room as well, combining three different functions in the same space without it feeling too crowded. I love the way the bed is made with the white linen bed skirt* and the mixture of linen in different shades on the bed itself. The group of art prints in the room separate the three functional areas from each other: you can find a bigger gallery wall above the sofa and two smaller ones by the bed and above the office area.
The big mirror in the hallway is not only great to check out your outfit before you leave the house, but it also reflects the light coming from the other rooms, brightening up this dark area of the home that doesn’t get any direct sunlight. The kitchen has its own room and has a beautiful dining area in all white, which makes the wall wooden shelving and green plants stand out in a nice way.
How impressive is this turn-of-the-century home in green? I love the selection of wall colors and the different shades of mint and sage green on both the wall and the window frames. This darker shade makes the historic details like the skirting, door frames, and the windows stand out even more and I love the way the green has been combined with different tints of wood.
The kitchen has mint green cabinet fronts as well, with chrome handles and a grey stone countertop. The layout of the kitchen is planned with lower cabinets on the side of the window and wall cabinets on the side opposing the window for a lighter look with lots of storage space considering the rather small size of this room.
Going from the living room into the bedroom, open shelving has been custom-built around the doorway. This shelf is filled with colorful books that really stand out against the green paint of the shelf. The rest of the furniture in the living room is rather modest, which balances out the bolder color choice. Both in the living room and in the bedroom, some pink elements are used to add an extra pop of color and I love the way the palm in front of the bedroom window stands out.
I love the contrast between the bright living space and the black kitchen with the exposed brick wall in this beautiful Swedish home. You can find two of my art prints in the space as well, which I’m so happy about: The Pampas art print above the sofa in the living room and the Crinkled no.2 art print in the kitchen.
I love the way the kitchen and living area were made into one continuous space. The black kitchen is fitted exactly in this niche and the space inside the wall was made into open shelving if you look carefully. In contrast to the black kitchen, the living room is a bright, white space, with light-colored furniture and pillowcases in summery colors* on the sofa. I think the black bentwood chairs around the round dining table really stand out in this interior and the green plants add an extra vibrant pop of color.
The bedroom is small, yet space is optimally used because of the way the wardrobe is warped around the bed. This solution offers a lot of storage oportunity, without the need to give up too much valuable floor space. I think the wavy lines of the white linen bedskirt* contrasts nicely with the clean lines of the wardrobe and the dark blue curtains add a little bit of a moody touch here.
Look at this amazing turn-of-the-century home in Sweden. The living room has an asymmetric shape, with these beautiful large windows that allow for so much natural light to brighten up the space. The olive green custom-made kitchen with the small kitchen island and marble countertops is absolutely beautiful and I love the way it has been combined with the black wall lamp and the small shelf on the wall.
The higher cabinets are all placed on the wall opposing the windows and are painted in a cream color, which makes them blend in with the room. I think both the kitchen island and these tall cabinets also have the purpose of separating the kitchen and living room.
The large dining table with the black Wishbone Chairs is placed parallel to the angled windows and has a prime spot with lots of natural light. The living room fits perfectly in the area without windows and I think the area rug adds so much to grounding the living area.
The bedroom has been decorated in a very simple way, with the white linen bedding and bed skirt adding lots of texture to the interior. The subtle tints of beige and grey give this room a soft and calm look and I love the tiny wall shelf used as a nightstand by the bed as well.
