Stylish home with a vintage touch

post

I absolutely love the personality and character in this home, which makes it look cozy, inviting and stylish in its own way. I like the small white sofa, combined with the glass coffee table and the grey area rug against the beige paint color on the wall, which has been decorated with a lovely selection of art prints. The vase and pleated lampshade in the window add a vintage touch as well and I love those poppies on the side table that add a bit of color to the space.

The vintage vitrine on the left side of the sofa adds the most character to this space I think. The dark vintage wood adds contrast to the otherwise lighter color palette and the vitrine itself has been filled with beautiful decor items on display. On the opposite wall from the sofa, a little bench combined with a vintage mirror offers a spot for decor and at the same time, the mirror reflects the space to make the room look bigger. The small dining table in the corner has been separated from the rest of the room by the use of the art prints on the wall, which is a lovely trick to create ‘borders’ between functional areas in the same space.

The bedroom has a beautiful deep green wall color, which makes the white lamp and bedsheets stand out so nicely. This is a daring wall color, but it makes this small room special and characterful as well.

Ferm Living SS21 collection

post

Danish design brand Ferm Living just released their SS21 collection and it’s beautifully styled as per usual. Their latest collection features soft, organic shapes and neutral, earthy tones, underscoring the personal, raw and unfinished notion that embodies the feeling of home.

They see a home as a space that evolves and emerges along with the seasons of your life. With the passing of time, as your collection of personal curio, everyday items and beloved heirlooms begin to grow, your home develops a soul of its own. Storing an infinite number of memories and emotions that are personal to you. In many ways, coming home is like putting on a warm, comforting coat: it’s a safe, secure space where you can be the most authentic, true version of yourself, free from the expectations and obligations of the outside world.

I think this a great way to look at decorating a place and it’s what I often describe as a home with character and personality. This is something that grows over time and I’m personally in the stage where I’m slowly adding this personal touch to my new apartment as well. It takes a long time to find your way into a new space and to truly make it your own.

Cozy bedroom with lots of textures

post

This simple bedroom with white walls was transformed into a cozy and characterful space because of all the beautiful textures and textiles combined. The bed has been made with a beautiful white linen bedskirt*, combined with a sage green linen duvet cover* and a mixture of linen pillows. I think the mixtures of textiles on the bed add a lot to this room.

On the other side of the bed, you can find a little home office combined with a large mirror reflecting both the daylight and the space, which makes the room look bigger and lighter. The office area has been placed on a soft area rug, which adds an extra texture to this beautiful room.

Beautiful living room and home office combined

post

I love the warm beige color palette in this living room, which goes so nicely with the white and the wood tints in the furniture I think. The Ikea Soderhamn sofa, customised with a warm beige custom cover from Bemz* matches so nicely with the structured painting on the wall and the sheer beige curtains* in front of these beautiful windows.

This living room is not that big, but still there is an area for the sofa and an added home office space in the corner against the wall. I love the way this desk is decorated (obviously the magazines would be replaced by a laptop) with the art print, little vase and lamp.

Office ready for the work week

post

I showed the new vases* I got from Arket in my blogpost yesterday and there were so much more beautiful things in my parcel. Some of them I’m using in my office, like this beautiful ceramic piece of art, which is actually a storage box* and a set of 4 blue water glasses* that have a lobely speckled pattern in them.

In my window you can see the tree trunk vase*, which I love the texture off and I think they will look even better with real flowers instead of dried ones.

Since it has been taking me ages to get the pin board attached to the wall, I decided to start using it while it’s leaned against the wall. I love it for keeping notes and plans. Now I just have to locate my tumbtacks and I’m good to go.

Cozy home in neutral colors

post

I think this Swedish home (via Alvhem) is decorated in such a beautiful way with a combination of natural colors, mixed in with some black accents and vintage pieces. The walls of the living room have been painted grey, which enhances the grey and black color palette in the sofa area and makes the green plant on the pedestal in the corner next to the grey sofa stand out so nicely.

The wood of both the dining table and the coffee table in front of the sofa match so nicely with the modest color palette and I love the way the warmer wood of the vintage dresser stands out against the soaped wood of the flooring.

The walls of the bedroom have been kept white, which makes the sheer beige curtains stand out nicely in front of the windows. The bed has been made with a beige linen duvet combined with a white blanket and also here the wood of the vintage bedside tables stand out so nicely against the modest palette, just like the dresser does in the living room.

Fresh bedroom with beige accents

post

I love the subtile and neutral color palette in this beautiful Swedish bedroom. The grey on the wall has been warmed up by the warm beige curtains* going wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling and the bed has been made with a lovely mixture of white and orange linen and a beige bedspread*.

I think the combination of the pedestal with the flowers on the one side of the bed and the black side table with the matching lamp on the other side works wonderfully as well.

Beautiful apartment with dark accents

post

I think this home (Styled by Linnéa H. Manaberi, photographed by Frederik Karlsson for Alvhem) is styled in such a nice way, with a perfect mixture of simple furniture, combined with different textures in the textiles and materials, and a selection of lovely accessories to finish off the look.

The living room has been painted with a greenish-grey wall color, which adds a little bit of a moody touch and makes the white linen curtains and darker furniture pieces stand out in a very nice way. I love the fluffy area rug in light grey, combined with the dark grey textile on the sofa and the black accents on the coffee table and sideboard. The rug also visually separates the sofa area from the dining area and the gallery wall next to the dining table adds an interesting and characterful touch.

The small bedroom has a lighter color palette with light grey walls, a light grey area rug, and a mixture of textiles on the bed.

Beautiful apartment with a smart layout

post

I think the layout of this beautiful turn-of-the-century Swedish home is so well planned. The door between the living room and kitchen has been removed, which makes the layout much more open. The kitchen and bedroom used to be one room but have now been separated into two different areas with a glass partition in the middle which lets in natural daylight coming from those big bedroom windows. A curtain has been mounted in front of the glass wall for privacy and I love the industrial look the steel-framed glass gives to the space.

The kitchen itself combines a beautiful oak wood with a greenish grey granite, which has a very soft and warm look that contrasts so nicely with the hard lines of the glass panel: a wonderful combination. The kitchen is custom made and the same custom-made cabinet comes back in the bedroom which is such a nice touch.

Stylish studio home in black, white, and beige

post

Long-time readers of this blog might know I always get inspired when I see great small studio homes. Many of us live in cities, where only small homes are affordable and it’s crucial to design a studio home in such a way that it’s comfortable, and inviting and fulfills all the functions one might need.

The beige linen curtains frame the windows going wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling and the sofa area (which also functions as a bed) is separated visually from the dining area by the use of the cozy area rug in cream. The small dining area with the two chairs in black is enhanced by the gallery wall in beige and black and the same color palette comes back on the sofa as well which has been decorated with a mixture of beige, black and white in the pillows. The graphic tufted pillow matches this color palette especially well I think.

The small kitchen has been built into a niche that seemed already there. and I love that the sink area is inside the niche, while as the other side of the kitchen is extended beyond the confinements of the niche. The open wooden shelving is perfect for displaying pretty decorations and I love that the black and white palette comes back here as well.
