Cozy home with lots of textures

post

The different materials, colors, and textures in this apartment make it cozy and inviting and I think the mixture of it all is delicate yet characterful. The living room has a beautiful fluffy area rug, which adds a lot of texture to this space.  The walls of the living room have been painted in subtle, warm beige-grey and I love that the beige linen curtains* add variety to this wall color. I love the effect of the velvet burned orange chair as well, it adds even more warmth to the palette. The sofa is Ikea with a Bemz custom cover in linen* and the art prints add so much personality to the wall above the sofa.

The String shelf on the other side of the living room serves as a storage area as well as a little home office and I love the combination of the wood, grey, and white of the metal shelving rails here.

The kitchen is a modest white one with a concrete grey countertop and black hardware which works nicely with the white dining table and chairs here. I like that the kitchen consists of mostly lower cupboards, combined with an open shelf above the sink for the prettiest kitchen items and a subway tile backsplash.

The bedroom has been painted in a greenish grey, which makes the white linen bedding stand out so much. I love the combination of the darker art print with the peg rail* as well. The door of the old built-in cabinet has been painted in the same color as the wall, which makes the effect of this color even cooler.

Olive green living room walls paired with a greige wall color in the bedroom

post

This beautiful apartment in Sweden (Styled by Emma Fischer, and photographed by Anders Bergstedt for Alvhem) features amazing wall color choices. A gorgeous olive wall color steals the show in the living room, where it is paired with a light color palette in the furniture and textiles, and a few black and brown accent tones to add some contrast.

The open-plan living room goes over into a kitchen and dining space with white kitchen cabinets, wood countertops, and black hardware that comes back in the black leather seats of the dining chairs.

The bedroom is painted in a beautiful shade of greige, from which the light bedsheets and black accent bedside tables stand out. A black home office desk provides a lovely spot to get some work done from the bedroom.

The olive green wall color is what stands out most in the living space. The deep muted wall color brings out the white crown molding below the ceiling and it contrasts nicely with the white-soaped hardwood flooring.

The wall color is paired with an Ikea sofa with a custom linen cover* and a white fluffy area rug adds a bit more texture to the sofa area. The sheer white linen curtains in front of the window lighten up the palette and the wood and leather tones in the armchair and the coffee table add a natural touch to the setting.

The mix of throw pillows on the sofa paired with the two elegant art prints on the wall provide the color palette with a mixture of brown, beige, and grey tones to finish off the look.

The entryway of the apartment comes out in the living room. By painting all the walls in the same color, the spaces become visually connected to each other in a nice way.

Even though both rooms are connected to each other, the difference in wall color between the kitchen and the living room allows them to be visually separated from each other.

The crisp white walls in the living room are matched by white kitchen cabinets and contrasted by a black dining area and black cabinet hardware.

Two main kitchen modules are separated by a beautiful walk-in pantry in the corner. The module with the stove top is finished with a wood countertop, paired with a minimal white hood that blends into the wall behind it.

The sink module of the kitchen is finished with a stainless steel countertop that matches the faucet. The upper cabinets have glass fronts for a lighter look with subtle light wood inlays, paired with a spot for wine bottles on the side.

The bedroom has been painted in a dark grey-beige wall color that adds a subtly warm glow to the setting. The beige bedding and the white curtains stand out against this darker wall color and the black bedside tables add a lovely contrast to the space.

The other side of the bedroom is a great spot for a home office section using a black desk paired with a back chair. The standing mirror with the black frame matches the color palette in this corner and it makes the room appear larger.

Beautiful cool grey home

post

I think the cool grey walls work so refreshing in this beautiful Swedish home. The living room wall color is a very cool (almost blue) grey, which is warmed up by a variety of warm accents in the accessories and furniture. The sheer beige curtains* warm up the daylight that is coming through those big windows. The black in the art prints, lamps and the bentwood dining chairs adds contrast to this look and I love the big mirror at the dining table, which reflects the daylight and makes the room look bigger.

The bedroom has been painted in a warmer grey, but also here you have a beautiful mixture of cool and warm tints. The cool grey in the duvet cover stands out and the black wall lamps combine so nicely with the wooden bedside tables.

Cute attic home office

post

I love all the inspiring home office spaces that I see popping up in the last year, during which the majority of us have been working from home. Depending on the space available, you can create a space to get some work done and make it cozy and inviting. After all, it’s the place where you spend a consistent part of your day, so you better make it comfortable to work at right ?

I love this beautiful home office space underneath the roof, with a height adjustable desk on top of a grey area rug for extra coziness and wooden wall shelves to keep some deco items and a little plant. This looks like a wonderful place to get some work done.

Beautiful apartment with delicate colors

post

I think this beautiful turn-of-the-century Swedish home has been decorated in such a nice and thoughtful way. The colors of the textiles and accessories are very subtle, yet enhance the delicate wall colors throughout the space.

The adjacent dining and living area are decorated in a more neutral color palette with grey walls in the dining room and white ones in the living room. The black furniture pieces like the dining chairs and the sofa table really stand out against the warm gray area rugs in both rooms and both the white sofa in the living room and the white table in the dining area form the perfect white canvas for the accessories. The mixture of warm-colored pillowcases on the sofa and the poppies on the dining table really stand out in this color palette.

The look of the classic white shaker kitchen with gold hardware has been lifted by the use of the pale mint wall color, which makes the space so fresh and vibrant. The kitchen accessories are perfectly picked to match this fresh color scheme and the small round dining table in front of the window works so nicely with the black bentwood chairs and the copper pendant light.

From the kitchen, you can look into the bedroom, which has been kept white as well and therefore has a calm and modest look. I like the mixture of the neutral bedsheets on the bed combined with the warm grey bedspread* and on the wall above the bed you can find my Hestar print, which adds contrast to this look.

Characterful home with green floors

post

I love how much style and character this Swedish home has. The lower level has these muted green painted floors, which combined so nicely with the white fluffy area rug in the living room and the light wooden fronts of the kitchen. All these different textures and materials make the palette of this home interesting and personal.

The dining room has a beautiful vintage cupboard against the wall, which has been painted white, matching the white dining table and contrasting with the black Flos pendant lights and a mixture of different black dining chairs.

In the living room, the soft green of the floor is combined with the white rug, a white linen sofa cover* and fresh green plants for a more vibrant look and feel.

The light oak wood kitchen combines nicely with the white tile backsplash and the black hardware, all complementing the green flooring in an elegant way.

The bedroom underneath the rooftop has been decorated with a mixture of beige and warm tints. I love the way the bed is made with the white linen bedskirt*,  beige linen duvet cover* and those chequered pillow cases* for a soft yet interesting look matched by the art prints on the wall.

Studio home with a smart layout

post

I love to see great examples of small homes with a smart layout to serve the functional rooms needed for the people that live there.  The exposed brick wall in the living room has been painted white and features a lovely dining table in front of the window, which looks like the center of the home.

The bedroom was separated from the living area and the small kitchen as a separate room, carving out a small space for the white kitchen with black countertops, which seems to have everything one might need on a small surface. The U-shaped kitchen layout optimally utilizes the limited space available.

The wall separating the bedroom and living room has been made out of rippled glass, which has a great effect and allows the natural light coming from the bedroom to shine into the living room as well.

Light grey walls and black accent furniture

A cozy living room with light grey walls

I think the mixture of the light grey walls, beige, black, and wood tints works exceptionally well in this home. In the living room, the wooden coffee table and wood in the armchairs warm up the space, which is otherwise decorated in a grey and beige palette. I love the way those sheer white curtains* add a light touch to the space together with the Nilsson pendant lamp, while the green plants lift the mood of the palette. I love that the wooden details also come back in the TV cabinet and the shelving for the small home office in the living room.

A grey kitchen with subway tiles on the wall

The grey kitchen works so nicely together with the light oak dining table in combination with the black Ant chairs and I feel like the dining area ties the look together between the two connected spaces.

The kitchen itself has quite a minimal look because of the simple lines in the layout consisting of two blocks at the walls and a small kitchen island in the middle. The white marble countertops enhance this clean look, while the subway tiles make it a bit more characterful.

Light grey walls in both the main and the guest bedroom

This apartment has both the main bedroom and a guest bedroom with an office and both are decorated in a similar grey and beige color palette that gives these spaces a calm and inviting vibe. I love the way the guest room has been turned into a little home office as well, separated by a beige linen curtain* which is mounted on the ceiling.

Greige home with black accents

post

This beautiful Swedish home is styled in such a delicate and considered way. I love the large light-coloured area rugs in both the bedroom and living room, adding a luxurious look and feel to those spaces, enhanced by the white linen curtains* in front of these large windows.

The black and dark grey furniture really stands out in the living room, which is matched by the art prints on the wall and contrasted by the impressive white statement lamp here. Other than the dark grey and black in the palette, a mixture of beige and muted burned orange was used in both rooms, which ties the look together.

The bed is made with a beautiful white linen bedskirt* combined with a burned orange duvet cover*, and white and grey linen pillow cases* for a modest yet powerful look.

Beige home with fresh green details

post

I love the way the subtile color palette works in enhancing the beautiful turn of the century details of this Swedish home. The walls have been painted in a very subtile warm grey color, which almost looks like white, but when you look at the slight contrast between the skirting, windows, doors and walls, you realise it’s not actually white.

The home is modestly decorated with a white sofa, light area rug, white linen curtains* and an overall white and beige palette, which makes items like the vintage desk and the wood of the piano stand out in such a nice way. I love the way the green plants just pop out of this calm palette as well, adding a fresh touch of spring to this home.
