Linnéa Salmen for Bemz

post

This is the latest work of Swedish interior stylist Linnéa Salmén for Swedish Bemz Design. Bemz Design makes custom covers for almost all Ikea sofa’s and teamed up with Apartment Therapy for this collection. You might have seen the Söderhamn Ikea sofa pass by here on the blog with one of the linen slip covers*, it’s a popular look in Swedish interiors.

The location of the styling is very impressive with the massive window, but I think the styling of the different models is very much on point as well.

Cozy studio home

post

This studio home with a living room and bedroom combined just looks so cozy, doesn’t it? The different kinds of textiles in warm and rich tints combined make this space characterful and inviting. The fluffy area rug combined with the warm beige walls and the green velvet sofa has an interesting effect and I just love the little bedroom corner with the piece of art. The window sill is used as a bedside table, which makes sense in such a small space and there is a little storage closet that has been used to place a small desk.

Cozy home in beige

post

Can a home get any cosier than this one ? All the beige tints combined with so many different textiles and art prints set the perfect mood in this Swedish home and the fireplace is the cherry on top I think.

The living room has a light base palette consisting out of a white area rug and a light beige sofa and armchair, which is enhanced by beige linen curtains*, pillow cases in warm tints* and wood details in the furniture.

Both bedrooms are accessible from the living room and since they have the same color palette, they contribute to the warm look that has been achieved in the entire apartment. The bigger bedroom has a small niche leading up to a balcony, which has been used for a little office space.

A dark oak kitchen with white marble countertops

post
A dark oak kitchen with white marble countertops and a round kitchen dining table

Swedish kitchen design firm Nordiska Kök has teamed up with interior designer wtpstudios to design a classic yet minimalistic kitchen in a historic water tower just outside of Stockholm. The kitchen features warm-stained oak woodwork and a lively arabescato marble. The oak has been stained with a warm cherry tone that matches the floor and mid-century modern furniture, as well as the color scheme of the building itself, which was built in 1910 out of dark red bricks in a national romantic style with arched windows.

The natural pattern of the veins of the marble creates contrast in the otherwise calm and modest kitchen and adds character and personality to the space.

Novelties from antoniolupi

post

I have talked about antoniolupi on the blog and their innovations for the bathroom and beyond on the blog before (you can read a general story about the brand here in an earlier blogpost). The brand has recently introduced a series of exciting novelties to their collection including a wallpaper collection, which completes the bathroom project.

The Tralerighe wallpaper is designed by Gumdesign in a collection with the the Borghi and Gessati sinks. The three designs share the same geometry, the same warm and intense colors and the contrast between warm muffled white and black that creates a beautiful contrast. The design of the Tralerighe wallpaper collection is composed out of horizontal, vertical and oblique lines that intersect as if they were alive. Constantly moving and conversing with each other. The space incorporates the movement that is given by the lines.

For the Borghi sink, Gumdesign drew inspiration from the colors of Tuscany: the leaves and fruits of the olive trees, the reddish brown color of grapes and wine and the deep blue color of the sea. Gran Cru, Oleo and Ceruleo are three new Cristalmood colors, rich shades just like in nature (you can read my in depth blogpost about the Cristalmood innovation by antoniolupi here).

Antoniolupi is known for their technological evolution as well as for their craftmanship. Both go hand in hand with the design of the 024 freestanding sink, born from the assembly of segments of Carrara marble or Nero Marquina and colored resin. This is the same technique that has been used in the Gessati and Rigati sinks. The basin of the sink is made out of Carrara marble with black resin, as opposed to the column, in contrast, which is made out of Nero Marquina with white resin. This generates a chromatic balance that modifies the perception of volumes, lightening and “elongating” them without affecting the harmony of the design.

The Rigati sink is produced with the same technique. Here the lines formed by the resin in between the Bianco carrara or Black Marquinia marble create an elegant optical effect. I personally like the drain closure a lot, which is similar to the Gessati design.

The Specchidicarta mirror collection, made out of reflective mirror and  black lacquered mirror, reminds of a folded piece of paper or origami. The two different materials create dimension and in the words of the designers Laura Fiaschi and Gabriele Pardi of Gumdesign: “An imaginary fold that generates reflection”.

The Tramato carpets, also made in collaboration with Gumdesign are aimed at decorating contemporary spaces. Just like the design of the Tralerighe wallpaper, the Tramato carpets are marked by horizontal, vertical and oblique lines that intersect as if they were alive in continuous motion. I think the asymmetry of the carpets itself adds even more dimension to this visual illusion that is created with the mixture of contrasting patterns and lines.

I love the way the different novelties stand on their own but are clearly related to each other sharing the same theme. This blogpost was written in collaboration with antoniolupi , however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the brand and their wide range of bathroom products, make sure to have a look at their website.

Home in green and beige

post

I think the color palette in this home works so wonderfully together with the furniture and accessories. The walls have been painted in a subtle light green tint, which makes the white furniture sort of pop out. I think this is especially visible in the living room with the white sofa, coffee table, and white linen curtains* in front of the window.

The white tulip table combined with the &Tradition dining chairs and the black accents in the print and wall lamp works very nicely in the herringbone flooring.

There is another small dining table in the kitchen,  also combined with art prints on the wall to make it into its own little area, which is a nice touch.

The bedroom has a beige color on the walls, but the red (or green) thread in this home is the green plants spread on window sills that really jump out of this otherwise modest palette in green, black, white, and natural.

Simple yet stylish white kitchen

post
White Ikea Veddinge kitchen enhanced with brass hardware, a brass faucet and a subway tile backsplash

The white kitchen in this Swedish home is a simple Ikea model with white doors, upgraded with brass hardware, a stone countertop, and a brass faucet for a high-end look that goes so nicely with the glossy white tiles on the wall.

Since there are hardly any colors to be spotted in this space, the red and pink color of the plant in the window really stands out beautifully.

I think the small dining table works nicely as well against that wall in between the windows and I love the open shelving above it, making the dining table into its own little area.

Beautiful home in a black and beige palette

post

I think this is such a beautiful turn of the century home. I love the beige palette with black and accents, which works very calming yet adds contrast to the white walls.

The kitchen seems to be the center of the apartment, with a beautiful matt black kitchen island that stands out even from the other room. The black island is combined with high white storage cabinets against the wall and a beautiful vintage dining table in front of the window.

The beige palette comes back in both the living room and bedroom, which makes the look of this home very coherent. The hallway doesn’t get so much natural light, but because it has been painted white entirely, including floors and a large mirror was added to the wall it actually still looks bright.

Cozy white home with a classic style

post

This mostly white Swedish home is far from boring if you ask me.  I think the gallery wall in the living room works very nicely and adds a personal touch to this otherwise calm and modestly decorated space. I love the mixture of vintage and modern art prints combined and the gallery becomes even more impressive because it reaches from the sofa onto the ceiling.

The kitchen is all white as well, with a white marble countertop and glossy white tiles. It’s a classic white shaker kitchen that fits the space very nicely and I love the peninsula kitchen island in between the two turn-of-the-century windows.

The bedroom would be the only room in this place that has a darker color on the wall, making it a bit more cozy and moody. The grey walls work very nicely with the dark wood bentwood chair and the mixture of muted colors on the bed.

Small dark studio home

post
A black metal glass partition in a studio apartment with a black kitchen and dark textiles

This dark and moody studio home has been fitted with a black kitchen and a glass partition with a black steel frame to separate the bedroom from the living area. Behind the glass partition on the bedroom side, dark grey linen curtains* are installed to be able to darken out this room and to get some privacy.

The kitchen and living room are small, yet the sofa and the small round dining table fit perfectly in those spots and the layout of the kitchen has been utilized to have enough storage space with cupboards going all the way onto the ceiling.

I love the touch of pink in the duvet cover* which can be seen from the entire studio and stands out so much against all the dark colors. It softens out the otherwise dark grey and black palette a little.
