Terra: A residence for grounding by New Works

post

Last week 3 days of design was hosted in Copenhagen and I chose to skip it this year and fly out again for the next one, but I closely followed the news that was presented there on Instagram. One of the exhibitions that stood out to me was to one from New Works. Similar in a a way as the one they presented last year, but somehow also very different with the light color palette.

They designed a residence for grounding in collaboration with Lotta Agaton Interiors challenged by the current times and events. Their showroom reflects the muted tones and warm textures of the months ahead, whilst creating a space of tranquility within Copenhagens bustling center. Soft hues of dusty olive and calming grey meet natural oak, textured wool and rippled glass to communicate a lifestyle that harmoniously connects people, objects and the environment.

Modern, minimal and sculptural home

post

This is the latest design project by Laura Seppanen in a Finnish residential home, created for the 2020 Housing fair in Finland. The space is newly built, has very clean and minimal lines, and makes use of a lot of wood and marble, which makes it look warm and natural.

The kitchen block in dark wood really stands out in this all-white and bright interior, which is quite the statement and I love how greenery is used as an interior accessory in this home.

I like the bedroom as well, where a custom-made wooden headboard with integrated lamps goes from wall to wall. This really gives this space a finished look and I love the armchair combined with the wall lamp in the corner as well. The headboard, combined with the curtains and the armchair really gives this bedroom a hotel look.

Zoute Apartment by TJIP

post

This beautiful white studio home is located at the Belgian coast and designed by TJIP architects. I love the way they have worked with custom built solutions to create a space that has ample storage space and everything you might need in a small holiday home. I think it’s such a nice touch to put the kitchen island with the sink in the middle of the space, making it the center of the apartment.

The all white color palette looks calming and tranquil and makes items like the armchair, the black faucets and the subtile accessories stand out a lot.

Tiny yet stylish studio home

post

Yet another small studio home that certainly doesn’t lack style.  The layout has been used in a smart way, placing the kitchen against the bathroom wall and working with both upper and lower cabinets for lots of storage space. The dining table and sofa bed are all in the small living kitchen, yet by leaving enough white space around each area, it doesn’t look cramped in the pictures. The bedroom and sofa area has been made extra cozy with lots of textiles and an area rug and I love the contrast of the black dining table and chairs against the grey walls and beige curtains.

New colors from Jotun Lady

post

Jotun Lady just released their new color chart and just like every year, they have mastered their catalog styling and photography. Looking at these inspiring images showcasing their new colors just makes me want to paint my entire apartment in these earthy or cool blue colors. I’m a bit afraid of painting because I live in a rental, so I end up overthinking it most of the time, especially with the more daring colors. I can get on board with these natural tints in the first few pictures though, or maybe once I paint my first wall in a deep color, I won’t be afraid anymore.

Cozy bedroom with character

post

I think this bedroom looks so cozy, inviting and characterful and it’s mainly because of the big gallery wall above the bed I think. I love the little bench behind the bed for keeping extra pillows at night and a wall shelf has been turned into a little desk, which is very creative. Adding a wall lamp and a little art print makes this desk into its own little area as well.

The peg rail combined with the mirror on the other side of the bed reflects the gallery wall, which is a nice touch.

Warm kitchen in dark wood

post

You always want what you don’t have right ? I have a bright white kitchen and I find it so inspiring to see this kitchen with dark cabinet fronts. I find the moody effect so warm and cozy.  By combining these dark fronts with a light worktop in a natural stone and light beige walls, you still create a look that’s not too dark or heavy.

The Artek chairs* and dining table fit this cozy look and it combines so nicely with the Gubi Semi pendant* in black dangling right in the middle of the round table.

Dark grey bedroom with warm accents

post

The dark grey bedroom walls in this space contrast beautifully with the white crown molding, white window and door frames, and the XL rice paper pendant lamp in the middle of the room.

The combination of the charcoal grey bedroom walls with the hardwood floors and the different wood tints in the vintage furniture pieces works exceptionally well and has been finished off with beige, grey, and mustard textiles on the bed.

The Beni Ourain style area rug lightens up the hardwood floors and contrasts nicely with the dark cork on the bench behind the bed.

Vintage pieces add character against the grey wall

The vintage chest of drawers and the antique secretary add a lovely touch of warm wood to the spaces. The beautiful wood grains on the vintage pieces add a lot of character and contrast nicely with the dark grey wall paint.

A vintage desk is a nice addition to your home if you are looking to add a home office area. Have a look at the most beautiful vintage desks to create a home office area in one of my more recent posts.

Fresh home with green accents

post

There are so many things to be inspired by in this beautiful Swedish apartment. First of all, I love the muted deep green color of the kitchen cabinets, combined with a natural stone countertop and simple brass door handles. The green adds such a fresh touch to this light-flooded space and the beige and wooden items warm everything up a little. The kitchen layout itself looks very light as well, with a white exhaust and white upper cabinets on the one side for a lighter layout (imagine a full green upper cabinet row, this would make everything look so heavy).

The living is decorated minimally with a simple blue Ikea sofa and a small home office space in the corner. The green bedroom comes peeking through those white doors, which is such a nice touch. The green color on the walls in the bedroom matches the kitchen cabinets and I think this color works wonderfully well in this space. The art print above the bed matches the wall color exactly and I really like the general look and feel of this space.

In the hallway, a custom mudroom bench was built for hanging jackets and storing shoes, which also serves as a separation between the kitchen, dining room, and hallway. So smart.

Bathroom inspiration from Kvänum

post

This beautiful bathroom from Kvänum caught my attention because of it’s beautiful layout and the combination of materials and colors. The open washing table looks like an antique design, yet its mininal lines will tell you otherwise. The black faucets really stand out against the white tiled wall and I think the two wooden frame mirrors are finishing everythin off very nicely.

A perfect combination of modern elements with a hint to the past.
