Contrasting living room space

post

I love the brightness of this contrasting living room space. I have to be honest, I’m not that big of a fan of the bird cage pendant in this particular room, but I do love the white area rug which brightens up this entire space and is combined in such a nice way with the contrasting dark grey sofa and the black and white gallery wall. Imagine this space without the white texture of the rug underneath this furniture and you would have a completely different look won’t you ?

Home in green and grey

post

Another great example of wall colors in an apartment playing together so nicely. I love the dark green of the bedroom peeking through from the warm grey living room. It makes the interior so much more interesting and the wall colors seem perfectly outlined by the white historic door frames.

The wall paints are also the thing that stands out most in this interior, combined with simple furniture and textiles for a calm, light, yet contrasting look. The dark green in the bedroom combines so nicely with the warm wood of the vintage pieces next to the bed and the green plants match the wall color so well.

Grey bedroom with warm accents

post

How perfect is the color palette of this Swedish bedroom please ? I love the dark grey walls that contrast so nicely with the light bedding, the white paper pendant and the turn of the century window mouldings. The peg rail and the large art work stand out especially and I love the way the subtile pop of color brightens up the color palette and adds character to this room.

The little desk by the window looks very cozy as well and it looks like the perfect spot to get some work done.

Simple living room with beautiful accessories

post

This small studio living room and combined bedroom looks so cozy and inviting, yet has a very simple design. I’m absolutely in love with the little corner by the window with the bench combined with the black accent wall lamp and the round mirror to reflect the light (a great trick to make a small space look bigger).

In the corner by the bed, there isn’t a lot of floor space to place extra furniture or decorations, which was solved in a very nice way by hanging up those picture rails, which are very undeep, yet offer a nice display for small decor, art prints and magazines.

Turn of the century home with a minimal decor

post

The play of old and new is something I just can’t get enough of.  I think the minimalistic interior with modern pieces goes so well with the design classics and turn of the century details in this home. I love the look of the sofa area with the black accent wall lamp and the two different arm chairs that add a little bit of playfulness to this look.

The dark grey walls of the dining room add a little bit of a moody touch to the space and I love the way the wall color of the dining room can be seen through those sliding doors that connect to the living room.

The bedroom has a lighter palette, with peach and white bedsheets and a beautiful small workspace in front of the window and in between those storage cabinets. The Japanese pendant is a real eye catcher in this bedroom as well and adds to the tranquil vibe that is going on here.

Loft home on two levels

post

Look at this beautiful Swedish loft home with daylight coming through two levels of windows and a second level for the bedroom. The kitchen, dining table and sofa area are all placed in the lower part of the home, with the kitchen contained in a custom built frame, outlining it in this tall space. The custom built kitchen becomes a lower module of cabinets towards the windows, which makes the layout seem lighter and its ideal for displaying little things.

The color palette of the sofa area on the grey velvet rug works really nicely against those ultra tall curtains which cover all the windows and the bedroom on the second level looks very clean and balanced.

Living room and kitchen combined

post

There are many ways to combine different spaces together and a living kitchen is very common when you live in a smaller space. When you combine different spaces together, it’s all about visually separating them without necessarily having physical separations.

The sofa area is visually separated from the dining area with the use of the area rug, the dining table is centred in its own spot because of the pendant light hanging exactly above the center of the table and the tall kitchen cabinets on the left side of the kitchen separate the kitchen from the living area as well. It’s all in the small details when planning a layout like this, but they make such a big difference in the final result.

Kitchen in mint green

post

Look at this gorgeous light-flooded kitchen in Sweden. The mint green cabinet fronts, combined with the white marble countertop and the white tiles on the wall contrast perfectly with the black dining table and chairs if you ask me.

The green color of the kitchen cabinets is a bit less saturated as in this mint green kitchen for example, which complements the all-white walls and flooring in a more subtle way.

The design consists out of lower cabinets mostly, which makes the space look light and airy and adds emphasis on the tiled wall and the beautiful contrasting black wall lights. The window above the sink is such a nice touch as well and it lets through some of that beautiful kitchen daylight into the room on the other side.

Nuura in the Nomad workplace

post

I have shared the Nomad workspace in former courthouse building at Skt. Hans Torv in Nørrebro, Copenhagen here on the blog before. Recently Nuura lighting, also from Copenhagen shared these beautiful pictures of the lighting design they did in this beautiful space and I’m especially in love with the way their light solutions enhance the room, yet in a calm and subtile way.

Look at the kitchen and dining area for example, where the subtile Miira chandeliers add a delicate group of lighting to the ceiling. And the group of Liila lights above the sofa are just as much a piece of art as they are a source of beautiful atmospheric light.
