Home in a warm beige palette

post

Beige palettes have really been popular in the last few months and if combined with the right textures and accent pieces, they can be interesting yet calming to look at at. I love the balanced and soft look in the living room of this Swedish apartment for example, where the bigger furniture is all white (an easy choice, which is also future proof if you ask me) but the textiles and accessories used are in a beige palette which softens out the look of this space. I love the combination of the beige* and white* linen curtains in front of the window that soften out the daylight. The warm textiles and fabrics on the pillow cases and the big beige art piece on the wall enhance this palette even further and the black armchair and dining room chairs add a bit of a welcome contrast to this setup.

The all white galley kitchen has been finished of with wooden accessories and also here the black dining chairs are coming back for a touch of contrast. I love the open shelf above the countertop as well where the glasses and bowls are kept.

The bedroom is probably the most modestly decorated room in this home with the white linen bedsheets*, beige throw* and beautiful art piece above the bed being the main decor elements here.

The new home of Ferm Living

post

Danish design brand Ferm Living just opened its doors to a new showroom in Copenhagen, where everyone can come and shop and take a closer look at their designs. The building was originally constructed in 1777 and serves as the perfect historic location for displaying its collection.

I’m always a fan of their collections and the way they present their products at fairs, in their catalogs, and in their old Home in Copenhagen. I think this showroom is no exception from this pristine sense of styling, combinations of colors, and materials, not to mention the emphasis on the historic details of the building.

I can’t wait to visit their new space, so far the bathroom and the kitchen are my favorite spots as far as I can tell from these beautiful pictures.

Forest green kitchen

post

Forest green might be an uncommon color for kitchen cabinets, but I think it works wonderfully in this space. The upper cabinets are white for a lighter look and the green goes so well with the hardwood flooring and the wooden worktop. The forest green kitchen cabinetry is very saturated, yet because of the combination with neutrals, it’s the sole focal point in the space. You can see a similar effect with a mint green kitchen here.

The height cabinets are only planned on the wall opposite the window, which was a great choice I think. The other wall has been decorated with art prints to make it more personal and I love the plants spread throughout the room which complement the green color of the cabinets so nicely. The palette of this two-tone kitchen comes together nicely.

Pink bedroom behind a curtain

post

I wouldn’t go for a pink wall color very easily myself, but always love the soft glow it has in rooms like this, combined with other pink colors like the curtain or terracotta items. The curtain is a great divider as well when you are working with one room for the bed and living area for example. It visually separates the two areas and in this case it also complements the wall behind it perfectly.

Have a look at this post for my top favorite pink bedroom ideas.

Cozy and light flooded kitchen

post

Love how balanced out this kitchen looks in both terms of layout and color palette. The L-shaped layout of bottom cupboards works nicely in this corner, while still allowing ample space in front of the window for this beautiful round dining table with the Wishbone chairs in oak.

The String shelf above the kitchen cupboards is perfect for small items and the peg rail on the other side of the kitchen doesn’t take up a lot of space, yet still adds a little something to this wall.

Small home with a mint green bedroom

post

The bedroom must be my favorite room in this place, with the soft mint green walls and the bedding in the same color palette. I love the little bench with the art print as well, which can be seen from the other room. When it comes to decorating with mint green walls, it’s all about finding balance with elements in natural colors. A mint green wall combines nicely with warm hardwood flooring for example, which makes the cooler tones in the mint green color shine even more. When you want to incorporate mint green in your interior, you can also start with textiles or small accessories to try it out.

This home is decorated with mostly Ikea furniture, yet it’s a great example of how you can find your own style with accessories and details, without breaking the bank for expensive furniture.

In the living room, I like how the soft beige curtains go wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, for a more expensive look and a perfect framing of the window. The beige velvet area rug gives the sofa its place and all the beige items work very nicely with the black accent pieces.

The kitchen has a very cute small round dining table with black bentwood chairs in front of the window and I love the way the room divider is part of the kitchen. This module contains the oven and extra storage on one side and shelving for shoes on the other. Such a great space-saving solution.

Light flooded home with beautiful details

post

This home makes me want to live in a turn of the century apartment again. There is just something about those large old windows, that let in so much natural light. Apart from this though, I’m really in love with the accessories and details used in this home to make it look interesting, cozy and inviting.

In the living room the mixture of textures and textiles is very pretty and I love the combination of the graphic Beni Ourain rug combined with the soft beige linen textiles on the sofa. On the wall above the sofa, you can see my art prints Kamut and Pampas, which fit so well into this setup.

The kitchen has a small round dining table that fits perfectly in front of this angled wall and I love the small workspace which has been created in the hallway.

The bedroom has been painted in a soft grey, leaving the bed-niche white, which has a very interesting effect. The warm beige textiles and the wooden side table and peg rail warm up the palette in the bedroom and the beige curtains fit this look very nicely as well.

Kitchen with a petrol blue wall

post
A white kitchen with petrol blue walls, white marble countertops

This kitchen would be somewhat basic without the dark petrol blue walls, which make everything come together so nicely. I love the contrast between the blue and the white of the kitchen cabinet fronts, the window frames, and the wing doors. The blue wall color really makes the white stand out so nicely.

The round dining table in front of the window with the black chairs works very nicely in this corner and I love that the wide layout of the kitchen has only bottom cabinets, combined with open shelving on the top for a lighter look.

Beautiful home with green and blue tints

post

Look at this beautiful home with lots of daylight coming through those turn of the century windows. The modest color palette of beige in the living room has been made personal with the gallery wall, the big green plant and the beautiful old fireplace in the corner.

The kitchen consists of mint green and blue cabinet fronts, which is quite the interesting combination and I love that all the plants are gathered on the medium height oven cupboard next to the window. The white glass vitrine contrasts so nicely against the dark grey doors and is perfect for holding special ceramics that are too pretty to be hidden away.

The bedroom looks very light and fresh as well, with a mixture of beige, blue and white linen on the bed for a cozy look.

Cozy home on two levels

post

I love the combination of the light grey walls and the white painted hardwood floors in this Swedish home on two levels. The entire apartment is flooded with the most beautiful natural light, but the second level has those curved windows which are extra special.

The minimal grey galley kitchen with a natural stone worktop looks perfect in combination with the white floors and I love the dining area in front of the window with the dark wood bentwood chairs. Such a nice contrast with the bright white of the floors and curtains.

In the downstairs living area the dining room looks more moody, with the dark furniture, while as the living room looks more fresh. I love the two leather arm chairs in front of the window, perfect for chilling with two people.
