Hanna Nova Beatrice’s home

post

This is the home of Hanna Nova Beatrice, former Editor in chief of Residence Magazine in Sweden. It was featured on the Residence Magazine blog and I just love the rich tints of dark wood, leather and terrazzo against the grey mineral paint on the walls.

Hanna Nova’s home is modern and minimal, yet a cozy look and feel has been achieved by the use of different textures and natural materials. I love the dark wood in the kitchen combined with the grey walls and flooring  and the wooden windows work so nicely against the mineral paint on the walls as well.

The picnic table by the large window in the living room looks really inviting and tones done the otherwise minimal and clean look of the space I think. In the Residence blogpost you can read more about where you can find all the beautiful furniture pieces.

Bedroom with eye catching blue wall paper

post

I usually prefer painted walls over wallpaper, since it allows for much more personalisation and it gives you the oportunity to work with art prints that you can change around for an updated look without a lot of effort. That said however, sometimes the right wallpaper can give a room exactly what it needs and add extra dimension to make it look interesting and personal.

This bedroom with the graphic blue wallpaper works really nicely combined with the beige duvet cover* on the bed, the white area rug and the natural wooden bench by the end of the bed. The painted grey antique cabinet works really nicely against the graphic wall and it ads a soft touch to all this texture.

Beige kitchen with a cozy dining space

post

This kitchen has an odd angle in its layout, but the owners of this turn of the century home really made it work by placing the kitchen on the angled wall and placing a dining table in front of those big windows.

The beige of the kitchen cabinets, combined with the warm hardwood flooring and the beige linen table cloth work as a perfect warm base for elements like the chrome sculptural vase and the blue and lavender accents, which really stand out of this palette.

Fresh white home with green details

post

I’m a lover of painted walls (with a light grey or beige as a preference) but I have to say, there is just something about the way those white walls reflect the light in this beautiful Swedish home.

The furniture and accessories in the living room are mostly grey and light wood, which makes the green accents of the linen pillow cover and the plants stand out even more for a very fresh spring effect. The black accents in the art prints add a bit of contrast, which is crucial for finishing off this look.

Bedroom in mustard and grey

post

I love the character this beautiful light flooded bedroom with adjacent balcony has. The graphic are rug and the bench at the end of the bed are very cozy and ground the bed so it’s not floating in this rather big space. The light grey walls are a bit cooler, while the accessories and art prints have warm tints in them, which is a lovely combination in my opinion. I’m so happy to see that my ‘Crinkled no.1’ art print is included in this styling above the bed.

Grey and marble kitchen from Asplund

post

I love this beautiful mixture of dark grey, the smoked oak hardwood flooring and marble in this kitchen design by Asplund kitchens.

The natural texture of the marble adds character to this room and I think it’s almost like an artwork to be honest. The soft grey laminated cupboards soften out the texture of the marble and the chrome statement pendant above the white dining table tops everything off perfectly I think. This kitchen design is the perfect balance of deep colors and beautiful materials.

Cozy home with an eclectic touch

post

This home is more on the minimal side, with a neutral color palette and a mixture of sculptural and eclectic pieces for a characterful look. I love the rice paper pendant in the living room, combined with the lines of the armchair and the fig tree in front of the window which adds a fresh touch of green. The area rug adds a lot of texture to this area and fits perfectly within the color palette.

The bedroom has a warm palette, with a yellow duvet cover, which is perfect for spring. The peg rail on the wall combined with the narrow bench is a great touch as well and the round mirror looks great in combination with the different materials on this wall.

Shades of beige: Linnéa Salmén for Rum Hemma

post

Another great project styled by Swedish stylist Linnéa Salmén  for Rum Hemma Magazine. This conceptual living room and bedroom setup combines tints of beige in different materials and textures with sculptural pieces that look soft, yet powerful.

I love the way the different textiles are draped on the wall and the black and white striped chair really stands out in this beautiful setup.

Impressive dining room

Intricate board and batten in a majestic dining room, wainscoting

Having a room for the sole purpose of dining can be called a luxury these days, especially when you live in a city. This dining room however, is on another level with those wainscoting panels and ceiling moldings, original radiators and beautiful doors. The oval dining table on the area rug fits perfectly right in the middle of this room and the big plant in the corner of the room adds a fresh touch in combination with the beige and mute color palette.

Fresh white bedroom

post

Swedish stylist Pella Hedeby decorated this fresh white bedroom by the window with the most beautiful spring blossoms, crisp white linen bedsheets and a dark blanket for contrast from Swedish textile brand Wesomnia. I love the way all the white reflects the beautiful nordic spring light that comes through the window, while the darker tints add character and contrast.
