Living room with lots of textures

post

This living room with subtle beige walls looks so cozy and inviting and it’s mainly because the beige fluffy area rug adds so much texture to this space. The combination of the soft beige rug, with the rattan and dark wood of the Pierre Jeanneret chair, the colorful mixture of pillowcases, and the prints on the wall look so wonderful together. All these different colors and textures make this look interesting and personal.

All white home with a warm look

post

Sunlight really is the best interior accessory and the owners of this beautiful Swedish home certainly are lucky with the natural light that is flowing through those big windows. The light is reflected on the white walls and floors, which makes for the perfect white canvas to decorate.

All this white can easily look clinical, but by introducing warm tints of wood, cognac leather and beige fabrics, this home looks cozy, warm and inviting. When you decorate an all white space, darker furniture and accessories will stand out very nicely. Look at the black bedside table next to the bed for example: your eye instantly goes to the legs of the table and the wall shelf above the bed blends into the wall.

Elegant turn of the century home

post
Simple wainscoting in a large space with angled walls

What I wouldn’t give to live in an apartment like this with such beautiful historic details. These turn-of-the-century touches look really pretty, but you also have to find a way to make them shine. The Lead glass window in the living room, for example, wouldn’t work with just any furniture or accessories but the owners of this home managed to let those elements shine and to carefully pick furniture, wainscoting, and minimal accessories to not overcrowd this beautiful space.

I love that even though all rooms are separated by doors, you can still see a peek of the other room from wherever you stand. The dining room looks very majestic in front of these two curved windows, but I’m especially in love with the bedroom, which has been decorated in a modest beige palette to make the molding on the doors and windows shine. The beige also combines very nicely with the dark hardwood flooring for a warm look.

Small and cozy sunlit attic home

post

Look at this small yet super stylish attic studio home. It’s always a challenge to decorate a place while keeping those angled walls in mind, but it can also be so cozy to live underneath the rooftop.

The living room and dining room are placed underneath the largest area of the home, with the sofa in the prime spot underneath the window, allowing for enough head space and a lot of sunlight. The small round dining table fits exactly in this space as well, a larger one would not work here at all.

The kitchen is small, yet works well underneath the ceiling. The wall with the highest ceiling has been used for high storage cabinets, while the lower part is used for appliances. It looks a bit small, but the layout is ideal for this small spot and the light oak cabinets fit perfectly in the interior design of the apartment.

The attic bedroom has the same built-in cabinet as the kitchen front, which is a nice touch and I love the touch of blue on the bed linen. The blue adds a touch of spring and goes very nicely with the wooden beams that are exposed here.

Daniella Witte for G.A.D

post

A beautiful styling by Swedish based Daniella Witte  for the G.A.D. Stack shelf. I love the delicate objects and fabrics she used in soft beige, light grey and some black accent pieces. This shelf is perfect for a kitchen without top cabinets to display your prettiest ceramics I think. The different sizes of shelfs are great to style both smaller and bigger pieces and I love the simple lines here combined with the asymmetry of the shelf.

Turn of the century home in a rich color palette

post

I’m so impressed with the deep color palette in this turn of the century home. It’s such a bold choice to paint the kitchen in dusty pink and I love the way this was enhanced even more with the wine red chairs. The other rooms are painted in an even darker color with the living room in a warm grey and a wine red ceiling and the bedroom in a dark moss green.

This dark color palette works really nicely in this home because it has a lot of natural light coming through these large windows. The window frames are left white, which makes them stand out even more. This home has such character and style which is so inspirational.

Tiny office room

post

The owners of this Swedish home transformed a tiny room into a beautiful and inspiring workspace. The room doesn’t have direct daylight, which makes artificial lighting even more important (both on the desk and on the ceiling). The white area rug brightens up the space, adds a soft surface to place your feet on and makes this room more like a finished space rather than a storage cabinet.

The picture ledges on the wall add an oportunity to display small accessories and art prints which can easily be updated and switched around, without sacrificing floor space.

Nordiska Kök in the TypeO Loft

post
A minimal kitchen design with light oak cabinets, a limestone countertop and a black faucet

TypeO is a Sweden-based design studio and a well-curated webshop with handpicked and personal interior objects. They recently also opened the TypeO Loft in the Swedish country side where you can stay the night and enjoy the silence, serenity, and peace of mind of this secluded location.

The Loft is decorated minimally and harmonious with a combination of mineral colors, warm beige tones, natural materials, and handpicked design and decor details (which you can buy upon checkout if you like).

I’m especially drawn to the kitchen in the loft, which was designed by Nordiska Kök with timeless Scandinavian design in mind. The kitchen is a combination of closed storage hiding away all appliances and an open shelf for displaying carefully selected goods. The Thala grey limestone on the countertop harmonizes perfectly with the light oak wood cabinet fronts and the black faucet adds a nice contrast.

Kinnasand / Kvadrat

post

These beautiful images are from the catalog of Swedish textile brand Kinnasand. They design unique, high-quality textiles and carpets for the home characterised by individuality and attention-to-detail. Their textiles are made from the very best materials and crafted by the World’s finest weavers using state-of-the-art technologies.

I love that in these beautiful images the textiles and curtains stand out, but in a modest and elegant way, drawing just enough attention to their delicate texture and color palette, but not taking any attention away from the beautiful textures in the interior.

Improvised desk in a window sill

post

I love the way this window sill has been extended into a small workspace by replacing the sill with a custom-cut wood board where you can sit with a chair and get some work done. It’s amazing how such a small corner in a tiny bedroom can be made so useful. You really don’t need a lot of space, but it’s so nice to have a dedicated spot to work at from your home.
