RÖ Skin in St. Mary’s Hill

post

This beautiful space belongs to Rö Skin in St. Mary’s Hill UK.  The space was designed by O’Sullivan Skoufoglou Architects who were inspired by traditional apothecaries to transform this space into a light and bright haven of tranquility. Cane mesh was used as the wall treatment to allow transparency, light and visual connection. It’s a reference to the Stamford woollen mesh cloth produces in the Middle Ages.

Renovated home with black accent pieces

post

Look at this beautifully renovated turn of the century home with large windows and an open planned layout. The renovations are done in a more modern way than what we usually see. The flooring is a concrete tile instead of a wood and the ceiling is lowered slightly, which makes the curtains fit in underneath.

I love the soft light grey paint on the walls combined with the warm beige on the curtains and the black accent furniture pieces. It might not be how I would renovate or decorate this space, but I find the dramatic and characterful effect inspiring.

Bedroom and office combined

post

Ideally, a home has so many rooms for each purpose (wouldn’t that be great), but in reality, we often have to combine different functions into one space. Luckily you can get creative and find custom solutions so your small space can have everything you need. This bedroom office is a great example of combining purposes in a creative way.

The bed is placed in the main area of the room by the window, with space for a large wardrobe for ample storage space. Behind the wood divider wall, the owners created a cozy work spot, still allowing the natural daylight to come through, but creating a separate area.

Light flooded apartment on two levels

post

This loft home on two levels gets so much natural light from the double windows and I love the way the kitchen has been made the centre of the home. I’m really wondering how these plants are watered every single time, but they certainly do look great there on the upper kitchen cabinets don’t they ?

The bedroom fits in a small niche space next to the kitchen and a closet solution separates this area from the dining area next to it. The upstairs area is used for a cozy sofa area from which you have a great view outside and onto the plants in the kitchen.

Playful home with lots of textures and patterns

post

The use of different materials, textures and patterns can have such a nice effect on a home and I think in this case, they are combined for a playful look, which I think works so well in this space. The grey, beige and natural colors of the simple furniture pieces are enhanced by pillow cases, textiles and art prints to add style and character in the living room and I just love the small round dining table that is small enough to fit the space, yet big enough to fit three people comfortably.

The beige, mustard and yellow color palette in the bedroom works very nicely as well and the polka dot paper lamp adds a touch of playfulness in this room too. The large mirror above the bed reflects the room and make it seems bigger and I love the soft yellow of the bedding* combined with the white linen bedskirt* and the white linen curtains*.

Calm grey bedroom with a great storage solution

post

Behind these turn the century wing doors you can find the most beautiful bedroom in beige tints with a few fresh touches of greenery.  This bedroom looks so calm and quiet in a very balanced way and I love that the storage is hidden behind a beige linen curtain* that goes wall to wall. The large peg rail on the side of the bed is great for displaying your most precious pieces of clothing and I love the vintage cabinet next to the window that was painted white.

The white linen curtains* by the window match perfectly with the linen blanket* on the bed and the beige of the storage curtains comes back in the beige linen duvet cover* which makes everything look very thought trough and im balance.

Fresh and sunny attic studio

post

Attic homes are typically a little more challenging to decorate because of the lower ceilings and funky corners. This small attic apartment though is the perfect example of how it can work into your favour, while taking advantage of the abundance of natural light coming though those windows. The natural color palette combined with lots of green plants and tints of green, orange and yellow works really well here and gives the space a perfect touch of spring.

The bed is placed in a niche between the living and kitchen area, which feels like it was made for it. The white linen bedding* combined with the green throw and touches of yellow makes this corner look very fresh and I like the little side table with the lamp next to the bed as well.

Yaffa in Copenhagen

post

Yaffa is a mediterranean restaurant in Copenhagen, which was designed by Frama and you can clearly recognise their signature style in the mixture of clean furniture pieces in natural materials and rough surface coverings which I think by now they are pretty known for.

They have transformed a concrete basement into a warm, inviting and relaxed eatery working with a mixture of vintage furniture and pieces from their own collection. I think the Frama ceramics really are the finishing touch on these marble slabs on the tables.

JOHAN GULLED’S HOME

post

This Stockholm attic home belongs to Johan Gulled, co-founder of Gulled. Residence Magazine recently visited his beautiful modernised attic home and I highly recommend you to read the full article about the modernisation process and the design items you can find in this beautiful space in their blogpost.

The custom built green elements are the red (or green) tread in this home and I love the built in kitchen with the second level built on top. On the other side of the loft you have the beautiful green staircase, which fits the living room and library underneath. Every inch of this attic space seems to be optimally used with creative custom built solutions.

Canvas Series by Norm Architects

post

Norm Architects just recently finished the design of this Canvas series for  Ercol and I love the combination of textures and materials in these pieces. These cupboards fit in perfectly with the heritage collection that Ercol represents and the overlaying of the doors adds a bit of playfulness to the concept.
