This home has very simple furniture, mostly from Ikea as far as I can recognise, yet has such great style. The long and narrow living room fits both a dining table and sofa area comfortably. The oval dining table with the wooden chairs fits perfectly in front of the window and I like the picture rails that are used for displaying small art pieces.
The sofa area is visually separated from the rest of the room with the cozy area rug and the white and beige color palette has a brightening effect in the darker area of this room.
I love the warm and dark grey color of the walls in this bedroom. The darker walls have a moody yet cozy effect, which is freshened up by the green of the plant next to the window.
This turn-of-the-century home in Sweden was renovated so nicely with new elements like the fireplace being introduced while keeping and restoring the original wall and ceiling moldings. A true historic treasure!
The furniture that was picked out for this place is modern and minimal, with simple lines that work well with all the historic details on the ceiling. The deep window sills provide so much space for decorating and adding light sources and I love the little breakfast nook in the kitchen with the high open shelving. This is such a cozy corner.
Both the bedroom and concrete bathroom have some really nice custom-built cabinet solutions for storage and I love the way the cabinets are placed next to the bed, creating a niche headboard with wainscoting.
I live in the center of Munich and don’t have such a big apartment. Even though I’m super happy with my setup and the way I have decorated it, something that I find really challenging is the laundry area. I have a separate closet in my hallway where the washer and dryer are hidden, but it’s all the things that come with it that bother me, so I decided to do some research and share my solutions for doing laundry in a small apartment. Not all of these are space saving solutions, some are just things I find interesting for laundry in general, regardless of how much space have available.
Linn clothes rack – Number one on my list of annoying things about having to do laundry in a city apartment is the drying rack. I prefer to air dry most of my clothes but I hate the fact that the drying rack takes up almost an entire room and this for such a long time. I stumbled upon this perfect solution from Brabantia – the Linn Clothes rack – which combines a drying rack with a clothing rack and can be placed in the bedroom or hallway for hanging jackets or clothes.
Wool & Silk wash from Arket* – A mild and biodegradable detergent specifically developed for delicate textiles with natural lanolin and a wool wax that helps to protect and maintain the material’s moisture-repelling properties.
Iris Hantverk cedar wood balls* – The fragrance of the red cedar wood works as a natural pest repellent and adds a refreshing scent to your wardrobe, keeping your clothes fresh for longer.
Iris Hantverk hooks* – A versatile 7-hook rack made of birch wood which you can hang on the wall for cleaning supplies.
Guppyfriend Washing Bag* – this washing bag is a filtering solution that prevents synthetic microfibre pollution during the laundry. Created by German non-profit organisation STOP! Micro Waste
Laundry baskets from Arket* and Muuto* – when you live in a small place you probably have to use the bathroom or bedroom for storing your dirty laundry. I use the bathroom and I prefer different baskets for my laundry. They look nice together and I like that you can sort your laundry straight away.
This blogpost was created in collaboration with Brabantia, however all opinions are my own of course.

I love the metro tiles with black grout in this Swedish kitchen. It gives the soft grey fronts a more industrial look, which is made more delicate with the whiskey flask lamps above the counter. The layout of the kitchen works very nicely as well, with the tall cabinets away from the windows for a lighter look with ample storage space.
The middle of the space is used for the dining table, which is placed on a jute rug* for extra texture and coziness. The mixture of black and wood chairs works nicely here as well and I love the little String shelf* in between the two windows for displaying pretty ceramic pieces.
I love the simplicity of this all-beige bedroom. The tone-on-tone bedsheets, wall color, and black side table work very calming, which is perfect for a bedroom. The blue painting really stands out around all this beige and I love the character that these deep colors add to this calm and serene bedroom space.
The cool tones in the blue artwork contrast nicely against the greige walls and the warm shades of beige, grey, and white in the rest of the bedroom, resulting in an interesting cool-warm interplay.
Sometimes you have to find a solution and change the original layout of a space in another way than how it was intended in the first place. From the classic build in wall cabinets, we can see that most likely this bedroom used to be a kitchen.
The owners of this home repurposed this room into a bedroom and made the small area in front into a kitchen. A glass partition wall was installed to divide the two rooms. The kitchen is rather small but works in this narrow space.
I love the color combination of the textiles in the bedroom as well. The white linen bed skirt* adds texture to the bed, while the soft green duvet*, the green bedcover, and the round velvet pillows add a lot of freshness to this otherwise grey and neutral palette.
I love all the textures in this Swedish bedroom. The fabric lamp* and the long peg rail* on the wall are very simple yet striking additions to this interior. The peg rail can be used to decorate and to have your favorite clothes on display. The bed has a simple beige linen duvet* with a combination of different linen pillow cases* and blankets for a great mixture of textures.
This beautiful Swedish apartment has been decorated in modest tones and black accent pieces in the living room and kitchen for a calm and soothing effect throughout the space.
The bedroom has been painted in a dark blue wall color that adds a lot of depth to the interior, yet the real eye-catcher in this space is the DIY desk idea that fills the area by the window in the bedroom. I think this DIY plywood desk might easily be one of my favorite DIY desk ideas I have seen so far.
Two-tone walls and a grey velvet sofa in the living room
The living space has been painted in two different wall colors: white on the wall behind the sofa and on the ceiling, combined with a subtle light grey on the other walls. The grey velvet sofa and the dark grey curtains add a few dark touches to the space, which are lightened up by the light grey area rug, light throw pillows, and the white furniture pieces.
The vintage black leather armchair and the black wall lamp add a lot of contrast to the look, while the beige and grey art pieces add a subtle touch to the light grey paint on the wall.
Light grey walls and black bentwood chairs in the kitchen
The kitchen is another DIY project in the space it seems, as the outdated Ikea cabinets have been given another coat of paint and updated handles. The kitchen walls have been painted in a light and warm grey tone, which matches nicely with the light grey wall shelves above the kitchen.
The light natural wood dining table combined with black bentwood chairs on a hemp rug finishes off the kitchen look and adds a bit of contrast to the grey color palette in the space.
A blue bedroom with a DIY desk
Blue bedroom with gold accents
While the rest of the interior features blacks, greys, and beiges in a modest color palette, in the bedroom the owners of this beautiful apartment went for a bolder color choice on the walls.
The dark blue wall color adds a lot of character to the bedroom and is contrasted perfectly with the crisp white bedding on the bed. The gold wall lamps stand out nicely against the beautiful blue backdrop and add an elegant touch to the interior design of the bedroom.
A DIY floating desk painted in the same color as the wall
This is one of those easy DIY desk ideas that just really transform the bedroom space. A small and simple desk has been created out of a simple wood board (though you can use reclaimed wood as well) that is shaped so it fits the corner by the window. This DIY desk is curved on the side for an organic look that doesn’t obstruct the view out of the window.
The DIY desk is complemented with floating shelves to display a selection of notebooks and art pieces that fit this small space perfectly. Both the DIY desk and the shelves have been painted in the same color as the wall for a beautiful tone-on-tone effect.
I think it’s a great idea to fill a small niche space with a custom DIY floating desk solution and turn otherwise lost floor space into a functional desk space. Like this, you can create your own desk design that fits the space exactly and you will end up with a desk design that beats any ready-made model out there.
Since the wooden board has a lot of touch points on the wall, the desk area could be attached using shelf brackets on different sides. In case you only have one or two walls to attach to your DIY corner desk, you can always work with one or two hairpin legs or other sturdy legs to keep the design stable without having to spend too much money.
The color palette in this Swedish bedroom is so rich, yet muted at the same time, which looks so interesting. The sage green on the walls works very nicely with the brass wall lights and the oak stool next to the bed. The shelving above the pillows is painted in the same color as the wall, which makes it blend in.
The dusty pink curtains* and duvet cover* go so well with the wall color and really give character to this space. The large area rug underneath the bed adds more texture and softness to this overall look and it must be so nice to put your feed on in the morning.
