The Sculptors Residence

post

I wasn’t able to visit Stockholm design week two weeks ago, but have followed it in my Instagram stories and something that really stood out was this project called ‘the Sculptors Residence’ made in collaboration between Menu and Dux, designed by Norm Architects.

In an apartment in the heart of Stockholm, an artistic haven of creativity and comfort was created where the different rooms served as an exhibition space for the designs of both brands combined with sculptures by British object-maker Nicholas Shurey and functional ceramic objects by Sofia Tufvasson and Atelier Armand.

Cozy attic bedroom

post

It can be a bit challenging to decorate an attic space, but this bedroom is a great example of a layout that uses a sloped ceiling in a nice way. The bed is placed underneath the angled roof, which must make it possible to look at the stars I assume.

By attaching wall lamps on the ceiling, you create a cozy bedroom space just like you would in a ‘normal’ bedroom with straight walls.

I love the combination of textiles on the bed as well, which gives the space a warm look in combination with the soft grey area rug which is great to place your feet on in the morning. The nude bedspread* goes very nicely with the white linen bedskirt* , duvet cover* and the light grey linen pillow covers*.

Living room with a fresh green wall

post

The modest green/grey color on the walls in this Swedish home works so well I think. Depending on the light, it looks more grey or green, but it sure gives this living room a very fresh look, perfect for spring.

I especially like how the light beige linen sofa (It’s the Ikea Söderhamn with a Bemz custum cover*), the light beige area rug* and the white dining chairs stand out agianst this wall color.

The white linen curtains* brighten up this look even more and I love the classic black armchair, which is the only contrasting item in this room and therefor stands out so nicely.

Small beige studio home

post

There is something about these warm beige walls in combination with the white furniture and subtle terracotta accessories and green plants in this home. This combination gives a feeling of spring, which is the exact mood I’m looking for in my own home currently as I’m longing for winter to be over.

I think the big white area rug* in this room does so much to lighten up the space. Since the living room and bedroom are one space in this studio, the area rug does a great job of visually separating the two areas.

The crisp white linen bedsheets* and bedskirt* match the overall light look of the furniture and I love the little white vintage desk with the impressive wreath above it.

Small and cozy home with an exposed brick wall

post

How cool is this studio apartment in Sweden, please? I love the exposed brick wall in the living room, which adds so much warmth to the otherwise rather neutral interior colors. The green plants really stand out in both the kitchen and living room and for a cleaner look, the brick backsplash is painted white in the kitchen area. I’m so happy to see my Abstrakt no.2 print included in this beautiful living room interior as well.

The small round dining table in between the kitchen and living room fits in perfectly there and enhances the open-plan kitchen. The open shelving on the kitchen wall is a great way to display pretty ceramics and more green plants and I love the way it stands out against the white tile backsplash and the white-painted exposed brick wall.

The bedroom is very small and fits a double bed exactly, which makes it also very cozy. The dark beige walls embrace the darkness of this room without any windows and I love the character that is added by the gallery wall. The dark grey duvet cover* and the white linen bed skirt* work very nicely here as well and combine perfectly with the color of the wall.

Nordiska Kök in a Copenhagen townhouse

post

Swedish kitchen brand Nordiska Kök just released a new townhouse project in the Kartoffelrækkena area in Copenhagen. The houses in this area all have the same size and shape, yet all have their personal style and character. Architect Jeppe Dueholm chose durable and sustainable materials for the renovation that would harmonize with the house and it’s soul.

The asymmetrical shelves of the kitchen resemble the facades of the surrounding buildings in the area. The built in bench blends in with its surroundings, but also contributes to the character and social function of the space. I love the way the dark stained oak cupboards contrast with the light color of the wall and floors. This natural color palette also adds a lot of warmth to this light space, while the floating kitchen shelf keeps the layout of the space light and airy.

Dark furniture light walls living room

post
Dark furniture in a living room with white walls for a lot of contrast

I love the dark furniture pieces in this living room, combined with the white walls. It does pull all the weight of the room down visually because the floor is made out of very dark wood as well. To avoid this, a large area rug was used underneath the sofa and a lot of art pieces were hung up on the walls, which draw the eye upwards and balance out the interior. The big statement lamp in the living room fits wonderfully well in this room and also contributes to a visually balanced room.

Bright white home

post

This blog used to be full of homes like this white apartment in the pictures, where contrasting black pieces stand out among a sea of white walls, floors, and furniture. I’m a big fan of deeper colors now, but every once in a while I see an interior passing by that works great in this contrasting setup, just like this one.

The dark brown linen sofa (it’s the Ikea Soderhamn sofa with a custom Bemz linen cover*) works really nicely against the light area rug and the butterfly armchair with the white sheepskin looks wonderful combined with all the white. I love the little workspace that has been created on the wall of the living room as well. Perfect for keeping paperwork and getting some work done.

The bedroom is very small and fits the bed exactly so that the window sill can be used as a form of bedside table. The crisp white linen bedsheets* match the overall bright look of the apartment.

Light and cozy home

post

I just love the mineral treatment on the walls in this Swedish apartment. Both the bedroom and living room have the same wall color, which fits perfectly with the light beige sofa (it’s the Ikea Soderhamn sofa with a custom Bemz linen cover*), the white round dining table and the beige area rug in the living room.

The green plants and flowers really stand out against this modest color palette and the bedroom has been given a warm and cozy touch by using a reddish throw* combined with a cream duvet cover*.

Bright home with amazing details

post

Decorating a home is all in the details, and this Swedish apartment is such a great example of this if you ask me. I love the big collection of linen pillows* that decorate the two sofas in the living room and the large gallery wall that is placed on the wall there (including my Crinkled no.2 art print and the Sweater Weather art print in the little reading corner of the living room).

The bedroom is my favorite room of the apartment though as it’s the perfect combination of fresh and cozy. The nude, white and terracotta linen pillow covers*, combined with the light grey linen duvet cover* and the nude throw* have a very soft look, while as the plants and flowers in the room add a very fresh touch. The wallpaper above the bed adds a lot of texture, which makes this space even more cozy.
