Grey bedroom walls with yellow accents

post
A bedroom with a dark grey wall color with cool undertones combined with yellow accents in the bedding and art prints

I’m absolutely loving this cool and warm color palette in this Swedish bedroom. The dark grey on the wall could work with fresh and cool tints as well, but I think it’s so much more interesting combined with tints of beige, mustard, and yellow.

Firstly I love the fact that the bed is placed on a fluffy area rug, which is great to place your feet on in the morning, but also enhances the decor in this room and makes it look more finished. The tick linen curtains add a lot of texture to the room, but also darken out the sunlight in the morning. They match perfectly with the beige duvet cover*,  yellow linnen pillows* on the bed and I love the fact that the yellow and mustard tints come back in the gallery wall as well.

Fresh and warm tints combined

post
A living room with white walls, a light grey sofa and cognac leather armchairs

This home looks like spring to me. Maybe it’s all the yellow flowers spread in small vases in every little corner, or it might be the combination of warm textiles, wall colors and accessories, and fresh green plants.

I love the living room corner, which has a large gray area rug, combined with two vintage leather armchairs and a light grey sofa (it’s the Ikea Nockeby sofa, customized with a Bemz fabric cover*). The large living room window has a combination of sheer white* and beige linen curtains* which add to this warm look and the big fiddle fig tree adds freshness to this corner.

The dining area is placed on its own light area rug, which divides this space from the rest of the living room and also covers the patterned wooden floor for a more quiet look. The white dining table with the black ant chairs in this corner matches perfectly with the art prints on the wall. I think this is such a cozy corner.

Lastly, the bedroom in this apartment looks very impressive with those curved windows. The windows are covered with the same sheer white* and beige linen curtains* as in the living room, but here they are matched with a warmer color on the wall and a salmon-colored duvet*.

Quirky loft home with vintage elements

post
A exposed brick wall in a kitchen dining area

My inability to select just a few pictures of this home for this blog post already shows how big of a fan I am of this amazing place. The mixture of new and vintage items and the combination of colors and materials is so on point in this Swedish home that is not exactly minimalist, yet has a very calm look.

Let’s start with the kitchen, which has such an impressive garden door and an exposed brick wall. The warm tint of the bricks is balanced out by the clean white kitchen cabinets with black countertops and the daring fresh green tiles on the wall. The living room has the same exposed brick wall, which is painted white here. The blue/green tints on the sofa, combined with the painted vintage tv cabinet, the living room wallpaper, the light blue color on the wall and the deeper blue/green on the steps of the stairs work very nicely together and are paired up with beige and dusty pink linen pillow covers*, a vintage coffee table and the eye-catching Spanish chair designed by Børge Mogensen. The TV gallery wall works perfectly underneath the white staircase.

I love the little vintage desk by the window in the guest bedroom and the master bedroom is a truly calming space with the beige limewash treatment there. The rose linen bedsheets* and the patterned wool blanket* make for a very warm color palette which is topped off with a classy reading corner with the black leather vintage Eames Lounge Chair and a Grasshopper floor lamp in beige.

I think this home is so characterful and the perfect mixture of vintage, new and personal items.

White home with a light decor

post

I love the combination of the fresh green of the subtile flowers and plants in this home, combined with a few vintage finds and black accent furniture in every room.

The living room has a very light palette with the large beige area rug, the white linen sofa (It’s the Ikea Söderhamn with a Bemz custum cover*) and the white walls. This light palette makes the fiddle fig tree and the vintage cognac leather armchair stand out very nicely. The all white adjacent kitchen goes very nicely with the living room and here the all black wood CH24 chairs* add a bit of contrast (note also how the beige linen table cloth* makes the table look way less heavy).

The bedroom however must be my favorite of this apartment. Even though it has a slightly odd shape with those angled walls, the layout works very nicely and I love the combination of the wooden Hoof Table by &Tradition* with the beige throw*, beige linen duvet* and the crisp white linen pillow covers*. The two wall lamps really stand out in this look as well and add the same type of contrast as in the other rooms.

Gubi Wonder Sofa

post

Danish design company Gubi just introduced the Wonder Sofa, which is a contemporary reinterpretation of 1970s lounge furniture with an elegant, simple frame designed by Space Copenhagen.

The Wonder Sofa brings the relaxed and approachable feel of home to a hotel or lobby, or a touch of sophistication to a private residence. I think it’s a very elegant sofa for a bigger space. I love the playful touch of the cushions being ‘draped’ over the sofa frame.

White home with brown accents

post

This is such a cozy home I think. The brown and black accent pieces like the linen fabric sofa (It’s the Ikea Söderhamn with a Bemz custum cover*), the light brown linen pillow case*, terracotta plant pots and the black bentwood dining chairs make for a great contrast in this interior.

I like the round dining table in the middle of the kitchen as well, which is kept light with the linen table cloth* and the glass pendant dangling above it. The master bedroom has been kept very light and I love the round mirror on the wall, which reflects the light even more.

Something that really stands out in this home are the different curtains. The light beige linen ones* in the living room match the warm tones here, while as the white sheer ones* in the master bedroom and kitchen match the lighter palette here. In the guest bedroom a rather bold choice was made with those terracotta linen curtains, which work well because they are the only colorful element in this apartment.

Kristina Dam Studio Spring/Summer 2020

post

Kristina Dam Studio just released a new collection for Spring and Summer 2020 and like always their products are a perfect mix of simple materials like wood, steel, leather and marble and clean minimal lines. The curved pouf, which I have at home myself is now also available in cognac and black leather and a beautiful series of minimal vases was added to the collection as well.

Fresh home with wood and leather accents

post

I just love the fresh look of this Swedish apartment. The white walls, white curtains* and light floor with a mix of beige and grey area rugs sets the perfect scene for accents of black, wood and leather, which makes for the perfect fresh (almost spring) look.

I love the combination of the grey sofa with the cognac leather armchair in the living room. The Pholc mobile 70 pendant really stands out here and I’m in love with the gallery wall which includes my Black Beach print.

The kitchen looks very elegant and delicate with the wooden dining table setup and the light grey wall paper. The fresh tulips on the table and the plant in the terracotta pot really stand out here I think.

The light and fresh look is continued in the bedroom as well, with fresh white linen bedsheets* and a black bentwood chair for contrast. The wall to wall white curtains* here really open up the space and  make it look more sophisticated.

Attic apartment with mineral walls

post

I think this attic apartment has such a great look. It’s always a little bit of a challenge to get the interior right with those angled walls, but I think this place worked out really nicely. All straight walls have been given a wall color, while all angled walls and ceilings are kept white for a light yet cozy look.

The living room has a beautiful light grey mineral wall treatment, which goes very nicely with the light area rug and the white linen sofa (it’s the Ikea Soderhamn sofa, with a custum Bemz cover in white linen*). I think the gallery wall on the small space next to the sofa works exceptionally well and adds so much to this living room corner.

The kitchen has warm beige walls and space for both a round dining table and a small office table. Such a great combination here. The bedroom has been painted in a fresh blue color, which is very different from the other two rooms. I love the way the white linen bedsheets*  and the mix of beige and warm linen pillow cases* stand out against this fresh blue color of the wall.

Small home with great details

post

Decorating a home is all in the details I believe. You can add a personal touch, change things around or replace small things for an updated look. I’m a big fan of accessories and think they can make all the difference. This small studio home is a great example of the power of accessories in a space. The furniture is very simple, rather it’s the smaller things, textiles, plants, and art prints that stand out.

I love the layout of the living room and bedroom, which is quite a challenging setup but still looks spacious and not overcrowded. The dining table in the kitchen looks really nice as well and it must be so cozy to have your morning coffee there.
