Characterful home in black and white

post

Some might say this way of decorating your home is almost too safe, but I love the way the black and white is combined with neutral tints for a warm and contrasting look. I like to introduce some muted colors in my own home, but do love a good neutral and basic color palette. It’s just gives you so much possibilities to style and rearrange things as everything always matches together perfectly.

Stylish small studio space

post
A small light grey kitchen built into a niche

Living in a small studio home doesn’t mean you have to make any sacrifices to style, on the contrary! If you are in the process of designing a studio apartment, make sure to check out this blog post, where I compiled a list of the most inspiring studio apartment ideas.

This studio apartment combines a living area with a tiny kitchen that has been built into a niche behind the bathroom. The grey kitchen cabinets are painted in the exact same color code as the walls, which makes it so nicely integrated.

I love the subtle white sofa, the beige bedding, and the small round dining table in the kitchen area. The bed becomes part of the living room and can be a sofa for guests during the day and still it has its own area. The mustard color elements combined with the patterns on textiles and prints make for a lovely characterful mix.

Bedroom in blue and brown

post

Blue and brown is not a color combination that you see so often, but I’m really liking it in this Swedish home. The brown tones in the bedding warm up the cool tones of the light blue walls and bring some depth to the otherwise light color palette here.

Pella Hedeby for Brickmate

post

Talented Swedish stylish Pella Hedeby just did this beautiful styling for Bricmate kitchen worktops and I just love the black and beige combined with the delicate wooden dining chairs, the chrome tabs and the statement rice paper pendant. I love that the worktop continues high up on the wall as well, this is so impressive.

Majestic home in black and white

post

This all white home simply is a dream home don’t you think ? The black accent pieces and furniture pieces throughout stand out so much against the otherwise very neutral beige, white and natural color palette.

The floor in the kitchen looks like a black and white tile floor which used to be so popular in Swedish homes a while back but the fact that it’s painted on top of the wood makes it even more special I think. The kitchen itself is basic white, but the floor, dining table and accessories make it into something way more special.

Nude and terracotta bedroom

post
Nude pink and terracotta bedroom details in a simple interior with white walls

This bedroom with white walls is finished off with nude pink and terracotta bedroom details. It’s a small space that doesn’t make any sacrifices in terms of coziness. The nude pink and terracotta palette works really well together and gives the room a warm touch. Add a simple bedside table, a nice area rug, and a delicate light fixture and you have a stylish bedroom for little effort.

Elegant kitchen upgrade

post

I love this kitchen example in this Swedish home because it shows how you can get creative with accessories to spruce up a simple kitchen and create a stylish space for cooking and gathering.

The kitchen itself, even though simple is not really special, but by hanging up this large peg rail above the sink, and the open shelving on the other side, the design was given an upgrade. The open shelving serves as a display for all pretty kitchen items, which has such a great effect on the look of this space. This is a great way of sprucing up a rental kitchen or upgrading the look without replacing the cupboards.

Cozy studio space with lots of details

post

When designing an interior, it’s all in the details I think. You can personalise by adding accessories and it’s a great way of sprucing up a space without braking the bank or buying new furniture.

The furniture pieces in this space are very simple yet elegant. This home is styled mainly with art prints, ceramics and different colors of textiles for a cozy and characterful look. The kitchen looks great as well with the vintage elements which are accentuated in this green paint color.

A black and grey kitchen with a long peg rail

post
A black and grey kitchen with black faucet, grey walls and a long grey peg rail

I like this simple kitchen in black and grey. The contrasting black worktop adds a lot of character that comes back in the round black hardware on the cabinets. The walls and peg rail above the kitchen are painted in the same grey as the cupboard, which has a very subtle tone-on-tone effect. The vintage dining table and chairs add so much coziness to this otherwise clean and minimal look and I would love to have breakfast with a garden view like that.

Houz Oslo

post

Norwegian concept store Houz just located to a new store and the results are simply amazing. I love it when stores are designed as if they were a home where you can just walk in, have a look and casually buy the items on display.

Norwegian interior stylist Elisabeth Heier styled the pictures (photography by Ina K. Andersen ) and I’m in love with the mixture of grey, beige and dark woods. The eye catching dining table in front of the tone on tone wall shelving looks so pretty in combination with the Astep pendant. The kitchen is done by Ask og Eng and fits wonderfully in this space as well. I love the combination with the open shelving on the walls.
