15 inspiring kitchens with greige kitchen cabinets

post

Greige kitchen cabinets are timeless and versatile and are a great choice for remodeling a kitchen that can be kept for years to come. Greige cabinets can be the perfect alternative for a white kitchen if you want to go just a little darker, yet still want to maintain a modest and neutral look.

Griege (aka grey-beige) is really a grey with warm undertones and it can be used on all styles of cabinets and with a variety of different hardware and countertop materials. You can pick out a greige paint color that’s light or darker, yet whichever shade you select, painting cabinets in a greige tone will give them a bit more variety than pure white cabinets.

Take a look at the greige kitchen cabinet ideas in the list below and get inspired for your kitchen remodel or if you are thinking about painting kitchen cabinets in another color. At the bottom of this post, you can find a few suggestions for greige paint swatches to give a try in your own kitchen.

Greige paint colors to try out a swatch from for your cabinets

Greige is a bit of a tricky color to get right, as the cool or warm undertone in the paint is highly influenced by the type of daylight that you get in a room. Make sure to try out a swatch and observe it on a kitchen cabinet in your own kitchen at different times during the day to get an idea of the final look.North-facing rooms have cooler daylight coming in, which benefits from a warmer undertone, while south-facing rooms typically receive a warm tone of daylight.

Below, you can find my top picks of dark wood kitchen cabinets and a variety of different ways to style and design them with a combination of different materials, layouts, and wall colors.

Dark stained wood cabinets for a strong contrast against off-white walls

The dark-stained wood cabinets in this kitchen have a simple design that is paired up with white stone countertops, a chrome faucet, and a stainless steel sink for a minimal yet elegant effect in the room.

The bottom cabinets have black hardware that is very subtle and both the top cabinets and the black hood stand out against the off-white walls in a very powerful way.

The wood tones of the flooring, dining table, and dining chairs balance out the strong contrast with their soft warm color palette.

Walnut kitchen cabinets spread over three walls

The clean lines of the minimal kitchen with walnut cabinets feature a layout that has been spread over three walls, connected by a kitchen island with a breakfast bar in the middle. This is a layout that works better in larger spaces, especially when you opt for a darker door color.

The elegant grain in the walnut doors is paired up with white quartz countertops that are also continued on the backsplash behind the kitchen sink. A large rail spreads over the counter, which is great for hanging spoons and pans, however, it additionally provides the kitchen with a beautiful and elegant detail.

The beautiful paneled texture on these dark wood cabinets can transform a room and the lines add an extra dimension to a space, visually adding more height. Dark bamboo cabinets in a space with an intricate floor detail

The beautiful pattern in the hardwood flooring is a design element on its own in this space and pairing it up with a dark wood tone on the cabinets makes them stand out even more. These dark-stained bamboo cabinets have elegantly integrated handles and the kitchen island is lifted off the floor with legs for a lighter look in the room.

White and dark wood cabinets for an organic fit in the space

If you like the impressive and sometimes slightly dramatic effect of dark wood cabinets in a space but are afraid you will end up with a kitchen look that is too dark, you can always take the middle route and opt for two-tone kitchen cabinets. When you place the lighter cabinets on the top, your layout will get a light and elegant appearance, while the bottom, darker cabinets will add these characterful dark wood tones.

In this beautiful example, a combination of open and closed cabinets in white are placed on top of the bottom module of dark wood cabinet fronts. The white cabinets blend into the wall and lighten up the entire kitchen layout.

The stainless steel countertop and natural stone backsplash add yet another tone and color to the setting, giving it an interesting and natural style.

A floral wallpaper design and black marble countertops

This is one of these kitchen wallpaper ideas that adds a certain nostalgic charm to a modern kitchen design. Since this kitchen doesn’t have any upper cabinets, the wall above the cabinetry is like a blank canvas that is filled with a floral kitchen wallpaper that perfectly complements the minimal white kitchen cabinetry and the modern black marble kitchen island.

This is easily one of the most original kitchen wallpaper ideas on the list, as the bright colors in this striped wallpaper pattern in off-white and burgundy function as a backsplash on top of the white marble countertops.

This is a great solution to try out a style if you are still a bit unsure.

15 Antique and Off-white kitchen cabinets for a modern, classy kitchen look

post

For many homeowners, white is the preferred color for their dream kitchen as it can stand the test of time and it will add a fresh and minimal elegance to any interior. Other than regular white kitchen cabinets, however, you can go for antique white or off-white cabinets, which are a popular choice for a timeless kitchen as well.

Antique white cabinets tend to look less flat and they stand out against white walls, all while still retaining a bright look in a kitchen interior. Take a look at the list below to find the most inspiring off-white and antique-white modern kitchen ideas and scroll to the bottom of this post for a list of paint color samples to try out to achieve the looks.

Off-white cabinets and black accents in a classic kitchen design

The off-white kitchen cabinet color in this modern shaker kitchen stands out against the bright white walls and the black hood above the stove. The white marble countertops and the chrome hardware adds a modern element to the room and the open shelf in between the hood and the high cupboard is painted in the same color to create a cohesive look.

Minimal off-white cabinets with an integrated handle

The minimal off-white cabinets in this modern kitchen design add a certain elegance to the space that stands out yet blends in at the same time. The kitchen layout consists of three main modules: the main element with the sink against the biggest wall, a kitchen island in the middle, and high cupboards against the second wall.

The bottom kitchen cabinets have an integrated handle, while the upper ones are push-to-open for a more minimal look. The kitchen cabinets are paired up with a beige marble stone that brings out the warm undertones in the off-white color.

Antique white cabinets and a farmhouse sink for a traditional look

This beautiful antique white shaker kitchen has a classic look, with a white porcelain farmhouse sink standing out in the middle of the kitchen layout. The white marble countertops and the chrome hardware add a fresh touch to the color palette that matches perfectly with the other finishes in the room.

The walls are painted in an off-white that’s a few shades lighter than the antique white on the cabinets. The paint color has less warm undertones as well, which makes it stand out creating a wonderful play between the timeless paint colors. The white trim on the ceiling is relatively wide, to accentuate the ceiling height in this kitchen.

Stainless steel kitchen cabinets: 8 modern examples

post

Whether you are planning an indoor or outdoor kitchen, stainless steel kitchens tend to stand the test of time both in quality and aesthetics. When you invest in a kitchen remodel, you want it to last at least a decade, making built quality a deciding factor.

For durability, hygiene, and functionality reasons, stainless steel cabinets are the perfect choice for a commercial kitchen or outdoor kitchen, which is where you can often find stainless steel cabinets integrated. They can be a lovely option for a residential kitchen as well and tend to add either a modern or industrial touch to your space, depending on the shapes and lines you pick out for the cabinet and countertop design.

Because they are so often used in industrial and commercial kitchen settings, they tend to give a modern, industrial impression to your space. This can easily be balanced out with a minimal cabinet shape, the addition of warm materials to the setting, or a selection of accessories to balance out the look.

Have a look at the stainless steel cabinet designs in the list below to get inspired for your kitchen remodel.

Stainless steel cabinets in combination with gold hardware, wallpaper, and white tiles

This beautiful Scandinavian kitchen design combines eye-catching wallpaper, stainless steel cabinets with brass hardware, and a large wall of white tiles. While the stainless steel cabinets determine the lion’s share of the aesthetic, the romantic elements add a whimsical touch that makes the design personal.

The white tiling in combination with the stainless steel cabinets provides the space with an industrial look, while the wallpaper, vintage school board, and the wooden open shelving above the kitchen counter add a romantic touch.

The shelves can be filled with a selection of beautiful kitchen accessories and the wine rack and the magnetic knife holder on the right side of the stainless steel hood create a commercial kitchen appearance.

A stainless steel kitchen island combined with a dark oak cabinet design

Stainless steel elements can transform a kitchen design. I love the way the stainless steel kitchen island adds variety to the material palette of concrete, dark wood, and light hardwood flooring in this beautiful, modern interior.

The stainless steel drawers on the island match the hood cover above the stove for an elegant and cohesive look. The big size of the contrasting island provides ample worktop space if you have guests over that want to help cook.

I love the modern and minimal shapes in the cabinet design, combined with the rich palette of materials in the room.

A butcher-like kitchen aesthetic with stainless steel cabinets

This Swedish kitchen is the most industrial looking one on the list. The combination of the black metal glass partition wall, the white tiles with the black grout, and the black fridge create a butcher-like kitchen setting that still looks cozy and inviting at the same time.

The stainless steel cabinets are finished off with brass hardware, a stainless steel countertop, and a flexible faucet for an elegant, finished look.

The small vintage wood table in front of the window balances out the black and steel tones in the kitchen layout and adds a beautiful warm touch to the setting.

A stainless steel kitchen combined with an island on wheels for an industrial look

This modernized loft has exposed beams combined with a light hardwood floor that adds a soft residential finish to the space. To adhere to the industrial flair of the building, an industrial kitchen with stainless steel cabinets and a stainless steel kitchen island on wheels fills this spacious apartment with high ceilings.

While the main kitchen block contains stainless steel for the cabinets, backsplash, and countertop, this stainless steel look is complemented by high cupboards in a beige laminate on the other side of the room and a clean white cover for the hood above the stove that goes over into a floating shelf.

The stainless steel kitchen on wheels in the middle of the loft space provides an extra worktop, while also functioning as a kitchen breakfast bar at the same time.

Minimal stainless steel cabinets in a modern home

While the stainless steel cabinets are at the basis of this modern kitchen design, it’s the stainless steel countertop and backsplash paired up with a steel faucet that gives the kitchen its monotone look that contrasts beautifully with the hardwood flooring in this modern home.

The ceiling-high steel backsplash completes the look, yet it also makes sure to protect the wall while cooking.

The cabinet layout consists of a kitchen island that is surrounded by tall wall-to-wall cabinets on each side. From the sink, you have direct access to the stove, while the cabinet combination on the other side of the island can be used to store a variety of non-kitchen things as well, as they are part of the modern apartment design.

Double-door stainless steel cabinets in a wood setting

If a kitchen design with complete stainless steel cabinets is a bit too much for your taste, you can always go for partial cabinets in stainless steel combined with wood tones for a more balanced and natural look.

In the case of this spacious kitchen design, the kitchen island and main kitchen module are made out of oak cabinets, yet the two large double-door cupboards by the window are made out of stainless steel. This subtle steel touch adds a modern appearance to the mixture of wood tones.

The walls are painted with a soft grey paint color that makes the steel cabinets and the white shelf stand out in a subtle way.

9 Pink kitchen ideas for a bold yet stylish look

post

Pink is quite a daring choice for a kitchen, yet it can be so stylish at the same time. You can go for a classic or modern look in this color and below I have compiled a list of the pink kitchen designs that I find most inspiring.

Not entirely sure such a bold choice like painting your kitchen pink is the right fit for you? Go for pink walls like in the last example, or add detail like a pink toaster, a pink fridge, or other pink appliances for a more subtle effect.

Dusty pink kitchen cabinets combined with white marble countertops

The pink hue on these beautiful shaker cabinets goes in the direction of a grey shade, which makes it much more subtle. By finishing off the pink kitchen with a white marble countertop, chrome hardware, white walls, and a stainless steel hood the effect is modern yet elegant at the same time.

Additionally, by using wall colors of multiple spaces, an unexpected pop of blue joins the beautiful color palette, which is a real focal point when looking into the hallway from the pink kitchen.

Light grey kitchen cabinets: 15 modern examples

post

Grey is a perfect color choice for your kitchen cabinets. Whether you go for dark gray cabinets or light grey kitchen cabinets, you will achieve a timeless look that is similar to a white kitchen, yet the darker tone on the cabinets will add a bit more depth to the color palette of your space than white cabinets can.

Light gray kitchen cabinets tend to work nicely with a contrasting worktop, or white marble countertops for a more subtle look. Finish the look off with brass, black, or chrome hardware to push the look more toward a warm, contrasting, or modern direction.

Below you can find a selection of my favorite grey kitchen cabinet ideas with a modern look. Some of the examples use affordable Ikea Veddinge fronts, meaning some of these beautiful grey kitchens don’t even have to break the bank.

Subtle shaker cabinets with modern black accents

The light grey color on these subtle shaker cabinets works so well in this space with off-white walls and a mixture of natural wood tones in the flooring and the dining section.

The white marble countertops, black wall lamp, and black faucet add a lovely contrast to this setting, while the stainless steel hood and chrome hardware add a modern touch.

23 Kitchens with white oak cabinets

post

Light or white oak cabinets are timeless and neutral in design, yet a great alternative for plain white cabinets when you want that little extra without going too bold. Natural or white oak gives a kitchen a subtle warm look that has a sophisticated appearance that can be varied by combining it with different materials for the counter, walls, and backsplash. Since oak is one of the most durable woods, you don’t have to worry about your kitchen being timeless in both quality and design.

Depending on the grain patterns visible in the white oak cabinetry, the oak wood can be modest or more intricate in design. Below you can find my selection of the most inspiring kitchens with white oak cabinets.

The white oak kitchen cabinets add a minimal and Nordic vibe to this kitchen design that is centered around the long kitchen island in the middle of the space. The beige limestone countertops and backsplash complement the white-pigmented solid oak cabinets perfectly, while the black accessories and pendant lamps add a lovely touch of contrast.

The white oak comes back in the bar stools underneath the kitchen island as well, which makes them blend in with the kitchen design.

The white oak cabinet doors bring the interior design of this modern kitchen to another level. The door styles contrast wonderfully with the grey marble countertops and the copper dishwasher front. Above the counter, the grey and copper tones come back in the beautiful art print on the wall.

I love the way the modern white oak cabinets pair with the red oak herringbone flooring for a unique play between materials that results in a versatile appearance. 19 Inspiring white kitchen cabinets with black countertops

post

A kitchen with white cabinets is such a timeless design choice that you see in many homes and you really can’t do anything wrong with this combination. A clean and minimal white kitchen can look boring to some, and fresh to others, yet if you combine the white cabinets with black countertops, you add a certain contrast that makes the design of your white kitchen much more interesting.

I have recently written a post about the most inspiring white kitchen ideas, and a post about black kitchen ideas as well, yet I thought the combination of white cabinets and black countertops deserved a post of its own as it’s such a great, contrasting combination that can add such an impressive amount of character and personality to your kitchen design.

White shaker cabinets with black countertops and a checkered floor

The contrast between the white cabinets and the black countertops in this beautiful shaker kitchen is enhanced even further by the checkered floor in black and white. The impressive black stove and the black pendant lights also contribute to the balanced contrast, and the light grey paint color on the walls softens out the look.

The u-shaped layout of the white cabinets goes over into a lower area in front of the window, which has dual functionality as storage combined with a seating bench. On the opposite side of the kitchen, you can find high storage cabinets and the glass front cabinets next to the stove give the layout a lighter look. The recessed stove is treated with a tile backsplash, for an elegant effect.

Balance Out Contrasting Dark Countertops with a Subtle Beige Wall Color

Dark countertops in a kitchen with white cabinets will undoubtedly result in a strong contrast, especially if the color palette in the entire kitchen space is black or white. In this beautiful Ikea Bodbyn kitchen, the white soaped wood floor and the white subway tile backsplash contribute to the high-contrast look, making the dark countertops stand out.

To balance out this black-and-white contrast, the walls of this kitchen with white cabinets are painted in a subtle beige tone. This results in a soft color palette, from which the stainless steel appliances stand out.

The beautiful pattern in the black marble countertop enhances the basic white Ikea cabinets fronts in such an elegant way. I love the way the induction stove just seems to disappear in dark countertops like this one, this way it doesn’t attract as much attention.

The white cabinets are enhanced with subtle chrome hardware and the black pendant light finishes off the look perfectly.

White cabinets with integrated handles and black marble countertops

The modern white cabinets in this kitchen have a subtly integrated handle, which matches up perfectly with the classic look of the black marble countertop. The range hood and stove in stainless steel add another material to the look, which complements the dark wood floors nicely.

The layout of the kitchen includes a narrow kitchen island that offers extra workspace, yet also visually separates the kitchen from the dining area.

Dark countertops combined with a light wood floor, white cabinets, and a grey wall

The raised panel doors in this kitchen add a subtle classic look to the space, which matches nicely with the crown molding on the ceiling. The dark countertops combined with the black Gubi bestlite wall lamps add a subtle contrast to the soft palette that is finished off so nicely by the subtle grey paint color on the wall.

A tiny kitchen with white cabinets, black countertops, and a black range hood

What this tiny kitchen lacks in floor space, it more than makes up for in style. I love the contrast between the white cabinets and the black countertops, which is enhanced even further by the black hardware and the black range hood.

The white porcelain sink with the gold faucet adds a certain elegance to this contrasting look and the open shelving on both walls offers extra storage space without making the layout of the kitchen too heavy.

The black floor contrasts nicely with the white cabinetry and the white subway tiles with black grout that cover the entire wall follow the black and white combination that’s also present in the kitchen itself.

Off-white cabinets with black granite countertops and chrome hardware

The minimal off-white cabinets on both the top and bottom of this kitchen layout complement this turn-of-the-century space so nicely. The dark countertops add a wonderful contrasting element to the space that works well with the warm wood flooring and the wood tones in the furniture.

Minimal white cabinets with black countertops and a grey backsplash

This gorgeous contemporary kitchen fills the entire wall of this open-plan living space with light wood flooring. The black countertops are combined with a cement tile backsplash for a modest look enhanced by the minimal white cabinets with integrated handles.

The appliances have been fitted in on either side of the kitchen, leaving the middle element clean and elegant with only the sink and stovetop cut out of the black countertops.

A small white kitchen with a black countertop and lots of storage

The white subway tile backsplash in this kitchen with white cabinets and black countertops goes all the way up to the ceiling, which gives it a very finished look with an industrial touch that is enhanced by the stainless steel range hood.

The white cabinets are limited to lower modules on the back and side wall, combined with open shelving to give this niche kitchen a spacious look. The other wall, however, has been filled with ceiling-high cupboards that offer ample storage space.

A minimal kitchen design with white cabinets, black countertops, and a white marble backsplash

The combination of the white cabinets with the black countertops in this small yet minimal kitchen is strengthened by the black tones in the elegant bar cart with gold details and the dining chairs at the dining table.

The chrome hardware, faucet, and sink add a subtle industrial touch to the look, while the white marble backsplash gives the kitchen design a certain elegance.

A characterful white kitchen with a black countertop and a green subway tile backsplash

The contrast between the white cabinets and black countertops provides a perfect monochrome basis for the green subway tile backsplash combined with the light blue walls and the brass peg rail above the counter.

The black countertop matches so nicely with the different colors in the materials and the white porcelain sink gives the space a subtle farmhouse kitchen look.

Minimal white shaker cabinets with black granite countertops and chrome hardware

The minimal white shaker cabinets in this kitchen are planned perfectly in the room, with a niche space above the stove with a subtle grey tile backsplash with a farmhouse touch. The white cabinets are enhanced with black granite countertops and the chrome hardware adds elegant detailing.

The L-shaped layout of the white shaker cabinets is planned around the window with lower cabinets only, however, on the opposite side of the kitchen you can find tall cupboards that make up for any lost storage space.

U-shaped white kitchen cabinets with black countertops and open shelving

This living space has dark grey walls, which really benefit from a contrasting kitchen with white cabinets and black countertops. The contrast has been enhanced by using a white subway tile backsplash and black open shelving, which enhance the look of this rather basic kitchen a lot.

Off-white cabinets with black marble countertops and a stainless steel hood

These off-white cabinets go in the direction of light grey depending on the angle from which you look at them, yet the contrast is just as strong as with other white cabinets and black countertop combinations, which is what it’s all about in this list.

The kitchen cabinets have been fitted in between two walls, which looks very nice and the black countertop has been extended into a low backsplash, which gives the kitchen a bright and clean look. The stainless steel hood, black wall lamp, peg rail, and single open shelf are the perfect details for this simple kitchen design.

An older white kitchen with black countertops and light blue walls

This kitchen is rather dated, yet the contrasting look between the white cabinets and the darker countertops is so timeless it still works. The kitchen look has been updated by adding a light blue wall color and subtle open shelving to the space.

Black granite countertops and classic white cabinets paired with a dark wall

The classic white kitchen cabinets fill the entire left wall of the kitchen space, with the black granite countertop standing out of the white backdrop in a contrasting way. The glossy white tiles on the kitchen backsplash leave the room feeling bright and elegant, while the dark wall color in the rest of the space enhances the contrast of the black countertop.

On the other side of the space, the vintage white dining table stands out against the contrasting dark wall. The antique painting and the classic wall lamp tie the design of this kitchen together in a lovely way.

Work with a White Brick Backsplash to bring Merge Contrast with a Rustic Touch

The neutral color palette in this small kitchen complements the rustic effect the white-painted brick backsplash adds to the space. The dark countertops and black appliances stand out powerfully in this kitchen with white cabinets.

The wood accessories on the countertop and the white floating kitchen shelf add a focal point and a beautiful warmth to the space.
