Montana furniture in my home office

post

Ever since I quit my day job about three years ago and started to work full-time on my blog and art prints, work hasn’t felt like work anymore. I love what I do and couldn’t be more grateful to be allowed to do this all year round. Even though I love what I do, I still work long days and most of these days are spend in front of my computer. I try to take breaks ever so often and go to the gym daily, but I can feel that being seated in front of the computer for such long stretches of time starts to take its toll on my back.

Things changed completely though ever since I got the Montana furniture HiLow 2 work desk, which is adjustable in height. I’m actually standing at my work desk as we speak, while writing this article. I love the fact that I can alternate between sitting and standing and am switching all day long. The little automatic switch (which you can see in the last picture) makes it so easy to make the desk higher or lower and it just moves with you as you stand up or sit down.

While I’m sitting down I often get tired and I notice that my attention span reduces. When I switch to a standing position, It feels like I get new energy and I notice I’m way more efficient in completing the tasks I have to do. When I get tired from standing, I just lower the desk again and sit down for a while.

The Hilow 2 work desk is fully customisable and all cables are hidden in a cable tray underneath the table top. I chose to include a built in socket on the table top itself so I can easily plug and unplug my phone and laptop. The work desk is connected with a single plug into the wall socket and you don’t have to worry about any cables being caught behind something when moving the desk up and down.

Next to the desk, I also placed a Montana System drawer element in the color Latte. While the desk is clean and white, I love the soft color combination with the beige of the drawers and it’s so great to keep all the little things that would otherwise crowd my desk.

Hallway spot

post

My hallway is the last place that I decorate. It was the last place to be fully finished in my old apartment and it seems to be the case in my new place as well. I have created a small corner though where I can sit to put on my shoes and where I can keep small things and throw my keys when I get home.

I hung up the Propeller lampshade from Fundamental Berlin here, which matches the light look of the marble so well I think. The lampshade comes flat packed and is milled from a single piece of solid brass. The spiral pattern assumes its conical shape when it is hung in place and gently pulled down.  My readers can get a 15% off with the code ‘cocolapine’ on all the items in their webshop* in case you are interested.

Ferm Living Mingle table

post

I have made a small change to my living kitchen, which had such a great effect on the layout of this space. I replaced my old dining table with the Ferm Living Mingle table (gifted) and I love the look of the soft wood of the table top combined with the mingle legs in brass. I chose brass legs because I have brass finishes in my kitchen as well.

The round table fits four people with ease just like the other table I had there before, but the room looks just so much more spacious now. I’m using my Shell pot as a centrepiece on the table and love how the ceramics combine with the light wood grain.

Montana Furniture Wardrobe updated

post

In my old apartment, my bedroom used to be very narrow and long, which was kind of awkward to decorate, but towards the end of living there I found a great solution with the Montana wardrobe solution spread over the entire wall, also creating a little bench to sit on. I loved this setup in my old home (which you can see in this blogpost)  and it’s one of the things I truly miss about living there.

My new home has a completely different layout, with a smaller and more square bedroom. It’s quite tight but works fine for just one person. I did end up with way less wall surface though and I obviously couldn’t use my Montana wardrobe in the same setup as I had used it before. I will miss my cozy bench, but the nice thing about this modular system is that you can adjust it to your needs and to any room. These wardrobe modules were one of the first things that were installed after moving, because they need little to no assembly.

Since in my previous home, I had an old closet next to this setup to hang clothes (that’s how wide this bedroom was) which I didn’t have space for in my new place, I decided to update the setup with two higher wardrobe modules and to design a layout that goes higher up to fully optimises the space available.

The bottom modules are the drawers that I previously had, where I store my sweaters, t-shirts, pants and everything foldable. I fold everything Mari Kondo style to optimise the space to the fullest, but these drawers are very spacious and deep so I actually have more space left to fill. I try not fill it though as I try to keep my wardrobe minimal. The two higher cabinets I added have a hanging rod for hanging dresses, skirts, shirts and jackets. I use the right one for longer items that fill the entire cabinet and the middle one for shorter items so I can also use the bottom of this module for storing boxes. The small cupboard is used for purses and accessories, however I still need to find a good way or organising this one. Any tips ?

Last year I had chosen white as a color for the modules and I naturally chose the same finish for the modules I added, but these components come in all 42 Montana colors and in the 30 new colors designed by Margrethe Odgaard that were introduced during 3 days of design. So many beautiful options !

Panton Wire in black

post

The versatile Panton Wire side table by Montana Furniture in white has been a favorite piece in my home since many years and I love how versatile it is. I love moving it around and change a side table like this to update the look of a space and keep my home looking fresh and new.

I recently got the Panton wire in black as well, with a beautiful black marble top plate. I love the contrast it gives to my living room and this gives me even more possibilities of change the look. Which one do you prefer, black or white ?

Making of the Monkey

post

During 3 days of design I got the oportunity to visit the factory where the famous Kay Bojesen monkey is produced and I even got the chance to assemble one of them myself and take it home with me as a gift. Now it’s dangling from my living room lamp and I love this playful touch.

Outdoor office

post

Ever since decorating the lounge area on my balcony (you can see more pictures in this blogpost) we just had a few good days here in Munich and then a full month of rain and cold so I didn’t get to really enjoy my balcony yet. This week summer hit the city though and I’m taking every chance I get to enjoy my outdoor space. This morning I have been replying emails from my lounge sofa and love how everything just feels so much less like work when you can do it outside.

Coffee in bed

post

After coming back home from Copenhagen for 3 days of design I just felt the need to take a slow Monday morning yesterday. It helped to get my mind clear and to refocus on all the things I have to get done this week.

I got this black porcelain set from Arket as a gift and I’m so happy with it. The pieces are very high quality, produced in Portugal and very affordable. I got two coffee cups*, a milk jug* and am using the small canister* as a sugar container. I’m thinking of getting the plates and bowls from this collection as well, there is something about these black porcelain pieces.

Coffee moment

post

I have been trying to wake up earlier this week and even though I failed horribly on Monday morning (I’ll use the Monday excuse) I managed to wake up earlier today. It’s amazing how much your can fit into a day when you start earlier and I hope I can continue this schedule for the rest of the week. Coffee is absolutely needed though, otherwise this would be even more of a challenge.
