Two weeks ago, I showed you the first painting in the ‘Tides’ series and it got so much lovely feedback from all of you, thank you! The new artwork ‘Caramel Tides’ is now available both as the original acrylic on canvas piece and as an art print reproduction.

Those of you who follow me on Instagram might have noticed I started painting again, and I just finished my painting ‘Blue Tides’. The acrylic piece on canvas is an exploration of depth and geometry and a play between soft and hard lines. Also available as an art print reproduction.

Living in a city apartment, I always appreciate great design that can be used in multiple ways. I love moving things around in my place and creating new setups with the things I have, while always looking for subtle updates that keep my interior-heart satisfied.
Recently the beautiful FH38 Windsor chair by Carl Hansen & Søn moved into my home. Its sculptural design features a taller backrest than necessary for a regular dining chair, making it a fusion of a dining chair and a lounge chair, and thus a comfortable and versatile addition to either dining or living room. The Windsor chair was designed by Danish architect and cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen in 1938 and has been in continuous production at Carl Hansen & Søn until 2003. Now, it has been reissued with modern comfort in mind and is available with a comfortable leather seat cushion.
The Windsor chair is shaped out of solid FSC™-certified oak and sanded by hand. The clean lines require multiple carpentry techniques to make and the chair is light in its expression thanks to its open spindle frame and the gently curved back, seat, and armrests. Each chair is unique and a distinguished example of traditional craftsmanship refined over centuries. I think the excellent quality carpentry is visible on the pictures I took, but it’s even more impressive when you use the chair and glide your hand over the oiled oak surface of the seat or the backrest.
Frits Henningsen viewed quality craftsmanship as essential, and unlike most cabinetmakers, always designed his own furniture pieces. As a member of the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild, Henningsen became a major driver of the furniture exhibitions of the period, gaining recognition for his perfectionist style and vibrant personality. He gave new expression to traditional designs and drew inspiration from the French Empire, rococo, and British 17th-century furniture, which I think you can clearly see in the Windsor chair as well: the perfect fusion between classic furniture design and quality craftsmanship.

I love the subtle difference the blanket on the bed can have in my bedroom. In the left picture, I used a wool chequered blanket from Arket (currently sold out, but keep an eye out on their blanket collection* as it will come back). On the right I the baby blue Crinkle blanket from HAY (still available here, but it will be removed from their collection as well.

Summer is not officially gone, yet I’m so in the mood for autumn to start. I love how some simple brown tints and a few lit candles can transform a space into the next season.

Ad – It’s no secret I’m such a big Arket fan and have been lucky to be able to try out their products for the past years. I have missed many limited edition items (you have to be so quick sometimes), which I’m still getting over, but I was also able to add some staple interior pieces to my home that I will have for years to come.
I had been eyeing these beautiful flower plates from Arket* for a while but the white version was so in demand that I never got the chance to order them for my home. Now I finally was in time to order them and they add such a subtle yet elegant touch of summer to my table. Since the plates are real eye-catchers, I paired them up with simple glasses and white bistro cutlery* to give the plates all the attention they deserve.
In the middle of the table, I worked with silver plated candle holders* (I have them in brass as well and they look amazing any time of the year I think) in combination with the more elaborate drip candle holder* for a fresh yet cozy effect. I recently wrote up a post about the 11 best metal candle holders and the drip candle holder has made the list as well.

I have lived in 3 different apartments here in Munich over the last 5 years and even though I hate the moving itself, it’s always a good point in time to stop and think about the furniture and accessories you owe and if you really love them enough to move them along with you. My String System is one of those pieces that has moved with me from apartment to apartment and it’s such a timeless design that I don’t see myself getting tired of it anytime soon.
When Connox asked me to team up on a home office makeover, I decided to take the chance to add a sliding door module to the String system, which I had been thinking about for a long time. Open storage is great for pretty things, but paperwork and some small items are better kept behind a door, in my opinion, to reduce clutter. Other than a wide range of over 33k designs from over 250 brands, Connox has a wide range of String furniture products, which you can compose into your own modular system for your own needs, and might I add, can grow and change with you over time.
You might know that I have this thing for blue and I love to combine blue elements with natural colors. I think this color palette is both interesting, fresh, and characterful and I don’t seem to get tired of this range of colors in either my home or my wardrobe. On my String shelf, I paired up the Setago JH27 battery lamp designed by Jaime Hayon for &Tradition with a beige desk organizer from Ferm Living and the timeless organic shape of the Henning Koppel jug from Georg Jensen (an item that has been on my wishlist for years). And since I’m such a fan of atmospheric lighting, the Torso table lamp from Menu can keep me company on darker afternoons. The lamp designed by Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen is crafted out of a combination of raw stoneware with ethereal linen and functional metal details which form the perfect combination of both hard and soft.
I’m over the moon with my new home office look and needless to say this is now my absolute favorite corner to write to-do lists, reply to emails and sketch out my plans. If you are looking to give your home office (or any area in your home for that matter) a little upgrade, you can get 12% off on the more than 250 brands in the Connox webshop until 30th of April with code 12Sarah (brands not included in the discount code: Cane-line, Fast, fatboy, Fermob, Foscarini, Gloster, Kartell, Knoll International, Muuto, USM Haller, Vitra).

I think you all know the CH24 Wishbone chair, the original classic design piece by Hans J. Wegner which has found its place in so many homes around the world. The chair has become a true icon and its eye-catching design has captivated so many design lovers, myself included. I was able to try out the CH24 Soft in the special edition Hollyhock in my home and I’m so in love with this happy touch of color here. I feel like the chairs have added the perfect spring mood, yet in a sophisticated way.
The CH24 Wishbone chair was designed in 1949 and has since been continuously produced by Carl Hansen & Søn. To celebrate the collaboration between Hans J. Wegner and Carl Hansen & Søn, which has lasted for more then 70 years, London-based designer Ilse Crawford has reinterpreted the master’s work in a carefully curated palette of nine deep and complex water-based soft colors inspired by the expressionist works of Per Kirkeby, one of Denmark’s most significant painters. All colors are eco-friendly, water-based, and resilient, so they are perfect for both private and public use. The color palette is available throughout 2022, a new color each month.
The Hollyhock edition, seen in my home is available from April and combines Beechwood with a natural cord. The Soft Hollyhock color is my absolute favorite of the collection and I was immediately drawn to it. I love the way it transforms my otherwise neutral interior, adding a vibrant yet subtle note of color, which is present, but not overpowering.
The nine colors reflect the times we live in, resonating with a contemporary audience. They are not standard colors, following the trends of time, but colors that add depth and complexity to any interior. The nine colors celebrate plants, minerals, and soil that make up the raw beauty of the Nordic landscape. They work both individually and in interaction with each other.
Today I’m teaming up with Arket to give away a lovely price in my advents giveaway calendar on Instagram. Even though they were sold out in a heartbeat (like so many pieces of their home collection, you always have to be quick!) I snatched two beautiful messing candle holders that I’m able to give away to one lucky winner.
