Even though I spent considerable time walking around doing stylings, taking pictures or sketching, I spend the majority of my working day at my desk in front of my computer. I do a lot of exercise and keep moving throughout the day, but the most important thing for a healthy back is a good chair. I’ve been looking for an office chair for a while now, and I finally got to try out the new Aeron chair by Herman Miller in Mineral, and I can honestly say that it’s the most comfortable office chair I have used!

The Aeron chair was originally designed by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick in 1994. The designers combined their deep knowledge of ergonomics and technology to create a unique task chair. Since then, the iconic form of Aeron has remained largely unchanged, but Don Chadwick (one of the original designers) incorporated 20 years of research on the science of sitting, materials, manufacturing and technology to improve the design.

It’s difficult to find a chair that is this comfortable, while at the same time looks nice in the office. The Aeron chair is both. It’s great to sit on because it supports the back really well, keeping the body straight but relaxed. I also really enjoy the modern look of the chair in the new Mineral color. The light tone of the chair, the combination of different textures and materials, and polished finishings look great, and shows the attention that went into every detail.

Next to the Mineral version (the one you see in my office), the chair is also available in Graphite and Carbon. You can have a look on the Herman Miller website to read more about the Aeron chair, its features and how it was designed.

Passed Sunday we took the time to have a simple breakfast together and tried out the new cutlery and glasses from the Westwing Basics collection. I love taking quality time in the weekend and invite friends over for brunch, or enjoy a meal just the two of us.

Lorena Canals washable rug

I like the effect of different fabrics and textures in the bedroom to create a soft and cozy atmosphere. These soft materials inevitably come with a lot of dust though and especially in the bedroom I like to keep it fresh and clean. I’m very excited that I could try out the Berber rug from Lorena Canals in the bedroom, which can be washed on 30 degrees.

I like the soft and graphic look it gives to the room and I don’t have to worry about dust, as I can wash and dry it regularly, just like all the other bedroom textiles. The rug is made by hand out of 100% natural cotton and is very soft underneath my feet in the morning.

Have a look on the Lorena Canals website to see their different designs.

Instagram 2016

These are my most liked pictures from 2016 on Instagram. Making this collage made me look back to all the pictures I took over the past year, which was quite a fun thing to do.

Muuto Folded Shelves

post

I’m always moving small things around to create a new look in our home and I’m always surprised how these small changes can have such great effect. Two of the new Folded shelves designed by Johan van Hengel for Muuto moved onto the wall in our living room and this gives me such great opportunity to style away and change this area constantly.

This wall has been empty ever since we moved in because I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted, but I couldn’t be happier with these shelves on the wall. Folded is based on a seemingly simple bending technique of a single sheet of metal to create pockets which can hold and separate items. I like this layering effect and the hooks give an extra place for hanging decorations as well, which makes these shelves the perfect stylish base for a decoration addict like me. I chose the small black shelf, combined with the large grey one, but you can have a look at the different colors and sizes here.

Aalto Vase in dark grey

This beautiful Aalto Vase moved into our living room just in time for Christmas and is holding a subtile bunch of mistletoe. The new dark grey color was introduced to the Alvar Aalto Collection to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the vase. The smokey hue accentuates the characteristic lines of the vase very nicely and it’s the perfect piece for Christmas and throughout the entire year.

First sign of Christmas

post

Last week I was invited to the by Lassen apartment in Antwerp to spread the Danish ‘hygge’ and decorate the classic Kubus 4 for Christmas. Those of you who follow my Instagram stories might have seen some posts from while I was there.

The by Lassen apartment is overlooking one of the nicest buildings in Antwerp and is decorated with all the by Lassen items. We got to take our decorated Kubus home and this is now the first hint of Christmas in our home.
