Bye September, Hello October

post

My September on Instagram - Coco Lapine Design

Another month flew by and this is how my September looked like on Instagram. If I look back at those pictures, there really aren’t any signs of fall decorations yet. Maybe this will be different in October, but since the weather has been so mild here, I’m not sure if I will be in the mood for fall colors and blankets yet.

The Swoon chair designed by Space Copenhagen for Fredericia has been staying in our living room for a little while and I’ve grown very attached to it already. It matches so perfectly with the rest of the furniture we have in this room and really makes our seating area complete.

Fredericia strives to deliver a collection they believe to be the modern originals of tomorrow. They work with a carefully chosen circle of renowned international designers that have the ambition to create contemporary design that is beautifully crafted, relevant and aesthetically intriguing.

Space Copenhagen designed Swoon as a comfortable yet sophisticated easy chair for lounge areas and private homes. It combines an upholstered shell in an organic shape (which is available in fabric or leather) with soft fabric cushions. I particularly like the difference in fabrics of the pillows and the shell and the signature look of the integrated armrests gives the room a very unique and elegant look.

These detachable pillows not only give this chair an interesting look, they also provide adequate back support, something that is often overlooked in contemporary easy chairs.
In the living room comfort is so important and it’s always difficult to find good looking pieces that also sit comfortably. Swoon combines both, while also being a subtle presence in the room that can’t be overlooked.

You can have a look on the Fredericia page to read more about Fredericia and Swoon and to see the many different variants in materials and fabrics.

BYE AUGUST, HELLO SEPTEMBER

post

My August on Instagram - via Coco Lapine Design

This is how my August looked on Instagram. September always feels like the last part of the year started and even though I have many exciting projects coming up, I feel like fall (and the winter) is coming too early this year. Not in the mood for blankets yet, maybe all of the AW goodies at Maison Objet next week will change my mind.

Panton Wire

Panton Wire is a unique system designed by Verner Panton for Montana, which can be used individually or in combination with other Panton Wire units. This year this classic design piece is celebrating its’ 60th birthday and for this occasion Montana brought out this light, elegant yet industrial product (originally designed in chrome) in three new colors: Black, Snow and Moulin Rouge.

When I heard that I could try out a Panton Wire in our home, I immediately started brainstorming about where to use it. It moved around in the house and finally I decided to use it as a bedside table. The graphic and industrial lines of the design look great against our wooden floor and I like the two practical layers for storing things away next to the bed. The Panton Wire unit also comes with the necessary screws to attach it on the wall, which I will do as well as soon as I’m done trying it out throughout the house.

For more inspiration on how to combine Panton Wire modules and to explore the other new colors, you can have a look on the Montana website.

This is how my July looked on Instagram. The summer months always pass by so much faster, but luckily there is another summer month coming before fall weather starts to appear.

Tea break

post

_MG_4931What I like about a tea break (or coffee break for that matter) is the ritual, the taking time away from your day to make a perfect cup, while being away from all the daily tasks you have been doing and thinking about. Such a nice Saturday morning feeling.

From daybed to guest bed

Remember I showed you the Myk daybed from Innovation Living in my office last month ? Well, I promised you I would show you the transformation of the daybed into a guest bed and since we are having friends over this week I thought this was the perfect opportunity to snap some pictures for you.

I have really been enjoying Myk as a daybed and sofa in my office. Just to be able to have a coffee or check my emails on my laptop is so much better then sitting at my desk all the time. I move the pillows around as a backrest or head pillow as well, which is great.

We are having a couple over this week, so I just lifted the top mattress off, placed it against the bottom one and made a double bed for two. I can easily make two single beds from it as well, just by leaving a space in the middle.  I placed the triangle pillows at the head of the bed, which creates a headboard and makes it easy to read a book while in bed. I used the black stool that I normally use as a coffee table as a night stand and borrowed one from the other room for the other side. I think my guests will get a great night sleep here !

Summer city balcony

post

One of the things I’m really happy about in our new place is that it has a balcony. It’s a small one, but it’s just enough for the both of us and just like the rest of the building, it has original details.

I put a lot of thought into how to make the most from this space and ultimately decided to go for a minimal look that would contrast with the cast iron railings and lots of plants to create a green oasis in the city. I’m so happy with the Menu wire lounge chairs from Westwing Now. They are very comfortable and don’t take up so much space. When we move things around, we can still fit a few stools for when we have guests.

Our balcony gets full sun from midday until the evening, so it was important to find a good sun protection as well. The Cinas balcony umbrella fits so well here and it’s great that we could just hang it on the balcony rather then having to fit a heavy foot, which would have taken up so much more space. The wire plant pot from Menu gives the look this extra edge and since the lounge chairs are made for both in- and outdoors, I’m thinking about using them inside in winter as well. I think they would look great in our living room.

We bought a fig plant (love the smell), planted some smaller plants in the planters and bought a climber plant that we hope will grow to fill up the gaps in the railing a little. Rather then covering these pretty details up we try to get some natural covering.

Frame on Frame

Frame on Frame - cocolapinedesign.com

Love the look of stacked frames and since I’m still cautious about making holes in our walls (I know, after half a year I should really just go for it) this is a great solution to change things around. The ‘Rose Quartz’ and ‘Palm Leaf’ print are from my shop, the Faux print is from Playtype. Don’t forget you can get a chance at winning the ‘Rose Quartz’ print by commenting on my Instagram picture.
