Monday morning break

post

Sometimes I take a flying start into my to-do list on Mondays, sometimes it just tends to be so much harder to get up to speed and I just have to go with the flow and take a little break. This morning has been a little slower and I took the time for breakfast (rather then having it in front of my computer), which then pushed me to get straight to work right after.

Last week I showed you the beautiful confetti vase* (love that name) I got from Arket and I just love the way it looks on my dining table as it seems to catch all the light coming from the window and casts a confetti pattern on the table. It’s such a simple design, yet it really speaks to me. For breakfast, I used my most playful cups designed by Maarten Baas for Valérie Objects combined with the scalloped plates* and bowls* from Serax and a cute speckled milk jug from House Doctor*. I recently got some new water glasses from Iittala called Raami*. They come in a set of two and like all the Iittala tableware I have tried so far, the quality is exceptional.

On the wall, you can see one of my own prints: The Abstrakt no.2 : a reproduction of my collage artwork made out of ripped paper pieces.

A touch of green in my bedroom

post

Sundays for me are all about recharging batteries and preparing for the workweek to come. This morning will be spend relaxing, while as in the afternoon I will start writing out my week plan so I will know exactly the things I have to do next week and when I will be doing them. This is a habit I started to implement since this year and it does wonders for my productivity.

I make the bed after waking up, but in the weekend I spend time relaxing in it as well, so I will make it extra pretty and comfortable. I’m still hooked on the chequered wool blanket from Arket* which keeps my feet warm at night and I love the extra dimension it adds to the bed. I recently got a lightweight cotton blanket from H&M* as well with white and beige stripes and I love how soft it is, perfect for the warmer months. I love to play around with the color palette in this room and currently I added a touch of green in the pillowcase*, which has such a subtile effect on the space.

Spring in my office window

post

I love looking out of the window every once in a while while working at my desk and the window in my office is always the one that is decorated nicely. I love switching around the decor here regularly and I think the effect a single flower can have here is major. It makes me so happy to look at a little flower in my window while I’m working. It’s a small thing that makes such a difference to my working day.

New in my home office

post

I think you have seen this area in my home office. On the other side I have my desk, which has my desktop computer where I edit pictures and do most of my computer work, but I also like to move to the kitchen table or to the smaller desk in my office with my laptop, or for writing to-do lists or if I just want to empty my brain on paper. I find that if I switch places from time to time during my work day, it really improves my productivity.

The black table is used daily, for this purpose, and since it’s right behind me when I sit at my desktop computer, it’s also my video call background, so I always try to keep it organised. I recently added the beautiful Cotton polka dot rug* from H&M home here and I think it really finishes of this area, while as the lavender linen pillow case* adds a touch of spring. I never had a lavender decor item until this one, but I love the soft pastel vibe it adds to the black and wood palette in this corner.

Spring vibes in my office

post

Over the weekend I tidied my desk area, which I was so grateful for starting the workweek. It’s so much less distracting to work from a clean and organised table isn’t it ? I rearranged the decorations in the window as well and added a little flower. I’m so amazed how such a small hint of spring can turn around the entire mood of a space.

Parrot tulips in my home

post

Whenever I buy flowers, which isn’t that often, to be honest as I see it as such a special treat, I take out one or two flowers of the bunch and put them in small vases around the apartment to enjoy them even better. Do you do this as well?

I kept the main bouquet in the kitchen dining area, but also added a vase in the bedroom window and one in my office.

An afternoon break

post

I love taking short afternoon coffee breaks to refocus and update my goals and to-do list for this week. This really helps me to stay on track and I try to do this at least every two days to evaluate what still needs to be done and to stay on top of everything (read as much as possible).

My kitchen dining area

post

The dining area is my favorite corner in the kitchen at the moment, but to be honest there is not much to compete with here, as the kitchen still needs to be rebuilt and upgraded. I can’t wait to show you more about my plans for the kitchen soon, but for now I’m very much enjoying cozy coffee moments and dinner here in front of the kitchen window.

I love to light the candles during breakfast, it gives such a cozy look and feel to the space. I fell back in love with block candles after not using them for a really long time and have placed them in these vases from Iittala* and Arket*. I love the way the candle light is visible yet slightly hidden by the texture of the glass. The brown, beige and natural palette also matches perfectly with my Kamut art print on the wall and I love the generally warm look and feel of this space.

I also got to try out some new plates* and bowls* designed by Sergio Herman for Serax, and I love the curvy shape and the difference in color on the ceramic.

My Home office

post

In my home office I have my desk and large computer on the wall by the window, so I can look outside while working. I feel like it gives my eyes a rest from the screen every once in a while and it’s a welcome distraction as well.

On the other side of the room (seen in the pictures) I have my poster packing station where I can store all my art prints flat. Next to that I have a small table where I like to sit to change things up and sketch or write to do lists. I ‘m using this big wall to hang all the art works I’m currently working on to test and see if they would make good prints. I really like this area and even though it’s not finished yet, it’s going into the right direction.

I have moved the Polka dot begonia from the window in the living room out here. I have fallen back in love with this plant ever since I got the beautiful new plant pot from Arket*.

Morning coffee moment

post

I have been waking up early this week, allowing me to get lots done in the early hours of the day and leaving me some time to take a longer coffee break in the morning, which is so lovely. Taking a break from your computer can be so inspiring and just recharges my batteries to continue the rest of the workday.

My favorite plant got a beautiful new plant pot from Arket*, with a matt and structured surface. It’s holding my favorite plant: the polka dot begonia and I love that it has an integrated drain and saucer so that the plant can be planted directly into the pot.
