The Normann Copenhagen Form collection already counts the Form chair with and without arms in oak, walnut or steel, Form barstool in two heights, Form table in two sizes and the recently launched Form rocking chair.

The brand new Form miniature is a 1:6 scale version of the original version, which I had the chance to try out in our home. I love how stylish yet playful it is and it’s looks good anywhere. The miniature will be released during Maison & Objet in September so I’m happy to be able to give you a little preview already. Where would you think this little piece of design would fit best ?

The miniature was kindly provided by Normann Copenhagen.

Sunny and light bedroom with Urbanara

Sunny and light bedroom - via cocolapinedesign.comSunny and light bedroom - via cocolapinedesign.comSunny and light bedroom - via cocolapinedesign.comSunny and light bedroom - via cocolapinedesign.comSunny and light bedroom - via cocolapinedesign.comI love it how small changes can make a room look entirely different. Our bedroom was still looking a bit wintery and dark even tough we are almost half-way summer now, so I was very excited to try out some of my favorite Urbanara bedroom accessories.

Their collection consists out of a wide range of quality home accessoires produced over the entire world out of the best materials and traditional processes. I chose the soft flanel cream Montrose bedding to add some lightness to our room and combined it with a light grey Veiros cotton quilt. I like to cover the bed during the day, but don’t want to be bothered by removing it entirely while we sleep, so this light quilt can stay at our feet without making us to warm and the waffle texture is very interesting to look at. Next to the bed I’m using the beautiful Vida floorlamp, which contrast with the light bedding and gives me some light for reading in the evening. I might move the lamp to the living room at some point, but for now I like how it matches the black bed. In one of the pictures you can see one of my new print designs by the way, which will be available in my shop shortly.

I really like this small bedroom update and love how much lighter our room seems.

Aesop

I’m a total sucker for good branding and packaging, so I was very excited to add some items from the Aesop skincare line to my daily routine. I’ve always known their products from their pretty bottles in stylish interior pictures, but it was the first time I tried them out for myself.

My favorite is definitely the Protective Body lotion with SPF 50. I have a very pale skin and was searching high and low for a sun protector that wouldn’t leave a white film on my skin and this is just it: high-level sun protection with a lightweight skin-feel. I also tried out the Resurrecting hand wash and hand balm with rosemary and mandarin, which leave my hands hydrated and with an amazing smell for a very long time.

Aesop just opened a new store in Berlin – Fasanenstrasse last week and I went to have a look at their new space. The shop was created in collaboration with Norwegian architecture and design firm Snøhetta. The design for the 93-square meter space was inspired by the many art institutions nearby and consists out of seven pillars, just like in the theaters. The pillars are open by day to present the beautiful products and closed by night to highlight the architectural construction. I will definitely be paying regular visits to the Aesop stores and am very curious to see the design of stores in other cities as well.

A Berlin mix of vintage and modern

For the past weeks I have been busy working on the styling of an apartment which I’m excited to finally share with you. For this project, I worked with several pieces from Pamono: a platform that gathers boutique collections from cities across Europe. The pieces included vintage furniture and modern items from Berlin design brands, which went really well with the hardwood floor and clean lines of this space.

I gave the living room a touch of classic Danish vintage, by combining two beautiful GE-270 Teak easy chairs designed by Wegner for Getama Gedstedand and a Danish Teak Minerva Sofa System by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard Nielsen. Both the sofa and side chairs (available at the Liebe Mobel Haben vintage store) are upholstered with a textured grey fabric, combined with darker grey sides, which restore the pieces to their original condition, but with a unique character. Above the sofa I hung up the Stockholm elevations print combined with a Star map print and a Kētos postcard which you’ll find in my shop soon.

For a modern spin, I combined the vintage pieces with a Herakles handcrafted oak side table by Fundamental Berlin, and placed two Lyngby vases on top. I love the combination of the soft porcelain against the geometric texture of the table.

For the dining area I used a black Easy table from My Kilos. I set the table for breakfast using black rimmed white plates from Broste Copenhagen and some beautiful green marble egg rocks. Above the dining table you can see our Palm print set and the Mountain ABC print.

In the master bedroom I made the bed with some cozy bedding from Mikmax and Urbanara. Above it, I placed one of my recent prints ‘Room with a view’  to give the space some extra dimension.

In the second bedroom you can also see our new whale print, Kētos. It is placed on top of the beautiful whitewashed wood Easy drawers table from My Kilos along with a few of my favorite objects, including a vintage Jieldé lamp. For a playful touch, I also used the creative Fancy finger pillow by Lucky Boy Sunday.

I had so much fun decorating this place and finding the right balance between vintage and modern. For more info about the apartment, see here.

For such a long time I have been looking for a watch that’s simple, elegant and light on the wrist. I finally found one that I absolutely love from Larsson and Jennings and I’ve been wearing it everyday so far. It combines well with everything and looks good with both day and evening wear.

I hope you all had a wonderful time with your friends and family over the holidays. We spend some time in Belgium over Christmas and went to Porto for the New Years week. It was an amazing two weeks and I wish it didn’t pass that fast. Now I’m ready for 2015 to take off and I want to start by showing you a project I had been working on before the holidays.

I styled an art gallery in the Fantastic Frank offices here in Berlin, which showcased photographs from the Ignant Flickr Friday selection. The concept was called ‘A living room’, and the photographs were showcased in a living room setting (hence the name) showcasing Berlin-based designers. This was a little bit different from the projects I normally do. I kept the styling in very neutral colors, so that the only color would come from the photographs.

You can see: New Tendency Shift shelf, Meta side table, Click shelf and a small version of the Masa table – Geckeler Michels Nerd Chairs and Ossa storageLlot Llov fabric lamps – Artek Mademoiselle rocking chair, EA002  and the Compact Café table by Sigurd Larsen.

Last week I styled this beautiful turn of the century apartment for Fantastic Frank in Berlin. The place was very light and the original ceiling ornaments were all preserved. The walls had this very light grey color that reflected the light coming from the big old windows and the living room had this darker grey module which could be used as a built in closet.

I had the opportunity to work together with Berlin based design company New Tendency for this project. There designs have a very clear aesthetic and functional form, which contrasted very nicely with the delicate ornaments and the white waxed floors of the flat. In both the kitchen and the living room you can see their iconic Meta side table, which with it’s versatile design can be used in the living or bedroom (or in this case also in a niche in the wall where normally a fridge should go).

The sleek silhouette of the Black Masa table in the kitchen went very nicely with the &Tradition chairs and in the both rooms you can see a Shift shelving system which consist out of modular elements. They can be stacked on top of each other without screws and moved horizontally. On the shift shelf in the kitchen you can see the Plug Lamp by Atelje Lyktan and above that the Paris elevations print by Studio Esinam. Staying in the french theme, in the living room I hung up a vintage map of France and used the Meta side table as a bar. On the chair you can see a Mountain pillow, made by Berlin based Icelandic design couple Markrun, who are by the way giving away a set of mountain pillows on their Facebook page if you are interested.

The Teesta rug in the living room and the blanket on the sofa are from Urbanara and are now making my living room cozy and ready for winter. On the ceiling you can see the Bergmann light fixture, which I also used in this bedroom styling and the desk is made from the beautiful Normann Copenhagen buk legs. I love the way they look in combination with the vintage chair and the white floor.

Warm knits and textures in my living room: I’m all ready for winter.

My winter favorites: Vida hanging lamp –  Onuma rice cupsKarby wool blanketKinna flower potVida brass table lampAlashan pillowSabarmati pillow –  Teesta rug

This weekend it became clear, very clear: the winter is coming to Berlin and temperatures lowered already. I’m not quite used to it yet, but I’m looking forward to these cosy times with tea, wool socks and cuddly blankets. So when online market place Urbanara asked me if I wanted to try out some of my winter favourites from their collection, I immediately became all excited about winter and all its coziness.

Their collection consists out of a wide range of quality home accessoires produced over the entire world out of the best materials and traditional processes. By offering the products straight to their customers, without third party suppliers, they are able to offer high quality products within an accessible price range. My favourites for this winter are a mix of soft textures, brass, greys and blues. I’m really into blue lately and I like how it breaks the grey winter feeling a little.

In my own living room you can see the Teesta rug in light grey, which gives the room a perfect soft touch. I like that it’s wool, warm and cozy, but it’s short and easy to clean. The different tints of grey of the sofa, coffee table and rug look nice together I think. On the coffee table you can see a hint of blue of the Onuma rice cups, combined with a brass flower pot and lastly for ultimate coziness there is the Danish Karby wool blanket waiting for me to cuddle under. I feel so ready for winter now.
