Sartorial Living: a New Works exhibition at 3dd

post

The exhibition in the showroom of Danish design brand New Works is always something to look forward to during 3 days of design in Copenhagen. The space gets a yearly makeover by Swedish stylist Lotta Agaton and this year the style is inspired by tailored menswear and classic interiors. The exhibition celebrates craftsmanship and timeless pieces, resulting in an interior that evolves around the oppositions that define New Works. In the space, you can find an impressive contrast between light and dark, classic and contemporary, and raw and refined.

The exhibition invites you to dwell on details and qualities and features grand as well as intimate lounges and beautiful dining areas that embrace you with harmony and warmth, courtesy of the textured textiles and the palette of rich brown hues and soft creamy shades. Subtle stripes and tweed-like qualities are mixed with chunky textures and warm wood to create a sophisticated and soothing space.

In the exhibition, some new releases of the brand were presented as well, like the Bukowski Chair, the New Works Shelving System, and the Atlas Coffee Tables, which will be added to the collection soon.

New accessories from Arket

post

I’m such a fan of the Klippan blankets made especially for Arket. I had been thinking of the black and white Linnea Andersson blanket* for a while now and I’m so happy I finally ordered it. I think the contrast in the bedroom looks wonderful and I love the way the black of the blanket comes back in the lamp as well. On the bed, you can see the CSA cups and saucers* which I have shown you before and they are currently still in stock.

But the bedroom is not the only place where I introduced Arket accessories. On my sideboard in the dining room, you can see a beautiful arrangement of glass candle holders* which let through the candlelight in such a subtle way and since I love candles even on summer nights, this is the perfect colorful arrangement for me here.

On the table itself, you can see a perfect summer arrangement as well (if I can say so myself) with a combination of pink and red tints, which is not a color palette I easily grab towards, but it works so nice here I think. The red and pink confetti vase* combined with the striped Afroart napkins*, and the glass napkin rings* look so great together I think.

Carina Set Andersson’s collection for Arket

post
An Arket blanket and cups and saucers designed by Carina Set Andersson

A few years back, Swedish ceramic designer and craftswoman Carina Seth Andersson collaborated on a collection with Arket*, and I still feel bad about missing out on her items back then, so when I noticed Arket repeated the collaboration, I just had to go ahead an snatch some of these beautifully designed homeware pieces.

The blue and beige blanket with a graphic striped design* fits wonderful on my bed and the cup and saucer set* is so beautiful as well. I love the high rim of the saucer, which makes the design very characteristic and the quality of these porcelain pieces is so nice as well.

An industrial kitchen with a soft oak look

post

I’m a fan of contrasting elements in an interior and the way the combination of materials can become a play between hard and soft. This new industrial-style kitchen by Nordiska Kök is a beautiful example of a mixture of materials that enhance the look of the room. This kitchen is built in a villa outside Stockholm and features concrete flooring, combined with a stainless-steel worktop and light oak cabinets. The kitchen island looks like the chefs’ table in a restaurant, while the soft oak finishes add a Scandinavian elegance.

My new modular sofa from Noah Living

post

Ad – Since I live in a rather small city apartment and have guests staying over quite regularly (though not lately due to the pandemic, but I have high hope for this summer), I have been on the lookout for a stylish, modular sofa, which is comfortable to sit in, but can occasionally be turned into a bed for guests. I had a sofa bed in the living room before, and even though it was super comfortable for sleeping, it was more a daybed, which wasn’t made for watching TV or lounging with more people.

With the Noah Living sofa, I have found the perfect piece for my living room. The Red Dot awarded design is completely modular and with its innovative plug system, it can be set up in an instant. I ordered the 3 seater with a chaise in the color Sand and it consists of four modules of the same size. I currently have three modules set up as a sofa in my living room and one module functions as a lounge area in my office. Once I have guests over, I can just move all four pieces into the living room and transform the sofa into a bed in the blink of an eye. I love the way the sofa can adapt to my needs at any time and if I move into another apartment where I would like the chaise to be on the other side of the sofa, this is no problem either. Even better, when I feel like I ever need a bigger sofa, I can just order another module and the design can grow with me, according to my needs.

Noah sofas are produced in Germany and made especially once you order them in the colorway of your choice. The high-quality materials that are used on the inside make the sofa super comfortable and are made to last for decades. The fabric has a really nice texture and is soft to sit on, yet it’s also dirt-repellant and durable.  You can wash any stains with soap and water, but the fabric can be removed completely as well to be washed in the washing machine. And if I ever get tired of the Sand upholstery (which to be honest, is hard to imagine), I can always buy another fabric to give my Noah sofa a new look.

New in: Ripply candle holder from New Works

post
The ripple candle holder by New Works on the String shelf

Ad – After the beautiful Kizu table lamp from New Works made its way into my home office, I just had to order the beautiful Ripply candle holder to go with it. The candle holder reflects its environment through the curved shape and is made from mirror-polished stainless steel. I love the combination of the steel of the candle holder, with the marble and the opal shade of the lamp, such a beautiful play of hard and soft.

I ordered the candle holder at Ambiente Direct here in Germany, where you can currently get the entire New Works range at 20% off throughout January. So if one of the gorgeous New Works designs is on your wishlist, now might be the time!

Giveaway no. 9 – Circle candle holders by Applicata

post

Today on my Instagram, you can win a beautiful Solid and Glow candle holder from Applicata design. These beautiful candle holders in brown brass are part of the Circle collection designed by Amanda Lilholt which is inspired by the sun and its geometrical shape. I love the untreated look of the brown brass, which should be getting a beautiful patina once it ages.

New wall shelving from Moebe

post

Danish design company Moebe just introduced their wall shelving as an extension of their popular modular freestanding shelf. Just like the freestanding design, the wall shelving can be configured up to your personal needs and the individual shelves can be placed on any height you like in a very easy way. I think it’s such a lovely extension of the collection which looks nice on its own or in combination with the freestanding design.

Small home with lots of style

post

This small Swedish home is decorated with such finesse and style I think. The living room and bedroom are right next to each other and I like that the matching neutral color palettes work so nicely together.

The little cork bench behind the bed goes very nicely with the rest of the bedroom and I like that there is a spot for a little home office as well. The neutral color palette combined with the accent tins of brown and black work very calming and I love the way the windows are framed by linen curtains* in both rooms.

The kitchen seems to be an old one that has been given a new color and handles, which works well and can save you so much budget. The round dining table works very nicely in this space as well in front of those beautiful balcony doors.

Current beauty favorites

post

Self-care has been so important to me in the last few months and I have been liking this extra attention that I’m giving my body. Here a few things that I have been trying out lately in these strange times of being at home all the time. Next on my list would be to find a great sunscreen that feels light on my face but still has full protection.

The Skandinavisk hand wash and hand crème duo (gifted) has been such a lifesaver lately. I have them next to each other on the sink and make sure to always hydrate after washing. The Øy collection has crabapple and dog rose, water mosses and green leave and I think it’s the perfect spring scent.

To dry my hands, I’m using these white waffled hand towels from Arket*, which are so soft to the touch and I love the texture they add to my bathroom look. I always try out hand towels first before I go for the bigger ones and would love to wrap myself in the bath towel* after showering.

I have tried out two new products from Aesop as well (gifted). The Sublime Replenishing Night Masque has been hydrating my skin during the night with vitamine B, C, E and F and it has a calming scent which instantly puts me into relaxation modus at the end of the day.

Rōzu is the newest addition to the Aesop perfumes and I can truly say that it’s my favorite so far. I often spray some on the inside of my hand just for me while working from home and I love the nuanced scent of Rose, with vibrant Shiso accords, woods and spice, earth and light smoke.

And lastly for the hair I’m so happy with these Arket bobby pins in gold*. These clips are so great for fixing a bad hair day and the fact that they are gold just adds a little bit more glam to a normal day.
