The nice things about light wood or white floors in a home is that everything you add on top of it stands out. I like how in the home the brown leather couch and butterfly chair really jump out of the picture. Also, can you find the cute dog perfectly blended into the decor ?
Last weekend we decided to extend a trip to Belgium, to visit Noordwijk at the Dutch coastline and enjoy a couple of sunny days at the North Sea. We stayed at Vesper, a great spot for design lovers to take a break. The hotel was recently opened after a renovation that restored it’s original look from the nineteenth century.
We explored different rooms at hotel Vesper, and saw a beautiful combination of modern design elements, art pieces and vintage furniture carefully hunted for at antique Parisian markets. Each room had a different color, representing a different theme and I naturally asked to stay at a “Pure” white room. Our room was very bright, tastefully decorated and cozy, with a very comfortable and cushiony handmade mattress. The highlight of the room was a beautiful raised bathroom, with a relaxing bathtub with view to the sea.
“Vesper” in Dutch, means the moment when the sun sets into the sea, and at the evening we witnessed a beautiful one. The sunset was accentuated by the sunlight reflected in the brass panels of the large cabinet that extends until the roof.
I will always have a weak spot for good design, especially when combined with friendly service, cozy atmosphere, great food and a sunny beach. The perfect recipe for a relaxing weekend.

This is a new restaurant design done by Norm Architects called “Itlay“. It’s an exploration between the unknown and the familiar, creating an atmosphere that is Italian, but seen from a Scandinavian mindset. I especially love the petrol colors against the wood tints.
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. I just wanted to pop in and show you this beautiful apartment with very simple lines and neutral colors. I like the black and white divider a lot, and the curtain which hides a small workspace is a smart solution as well.
In a home like this with so much sunlight and such heigh ceilings, there is the perfect opportunity to paint some surfaces black. It makes the rooms a touch dramatic, but combined with a lot of white and the light wooden floors, it makes the room very refreshing. In the living room the black wall is combined with a lot of pillows in modest colors, which makes it a very cozy area.
Not a very common combination, but I really like the effect of the wooden walls and the black ceilings in this home. It somehow gives the feeling of the ceiling coming down on you, but since the walls are quite high, it has a very special effect in this case.
This Berlin loft is a dream come true: high ceilings, hardwood floors, design furniture, and a concrete bathroom. Just perfect! I love that there is a seating area in the bathroom. This ultimately is a place for relaxing and placing a comfortable bench there makes perfect sense.

It’s a color you don’t often see in a kitchen, but somehow in this place, baby blue seems to work pretty well. I also like that the white tile and black grout backsplash goes all the way to the ceiling.
