Rooftop hallway office space

post

Creating a small home office or desk in your home can be so nice and having a dedicated spot to get some work done can make you so much more creative and productive as well. You don’t need an extra room for this and as this rooftop space shows, you can fit a small desk nearly anywhere.

The owners of this Swedish home built a desk along the curved edges of this rooftop, which is very smart as this would be space otherwise lost. By painting the wall and desks black and leaving the ceiling white, a very contrasting look is created which looks very characterful.

The Lassen chair in my home office

post

A few weeks ago I showed you my standing desk here on the blog and I’m still happily switching around between standing up and sitting down. While sitting though I wanted a very comfortable chair that looks stylish as well, something I find very important since I work from home.

The Lassen chair is designed by Flemming Lassen, Magnus Sangild and Marianne Viktor as an ode to Flemming Lassen’s uncompromising approach and special feel for detail, aesthetics, quality and form. The upholstered seat and back is placed on a geometric frame in powder-coated black metal and the dining chair embraces one’s body, letting you sit comfortably for hours on end. I chose a dark blue upholstery (called Jupiter) from Danish Art Weaving which has the prettiest detailing and texture.

I’m so in love with this iconic design piece in my home office and am a big fan of the contrast it adds to the otherwise neutral color palette of whites, beige and wood in this room. On and around the desk I worked with the Kubus Flowerpots, Kubus bowls and accessories from the Frame collection to create a coherent look with lots of storage options. I like to use the Frame boxes to keep post-its, pens and clips and the Frame Tray is keeping things together on my desk itself. The minimal lines of all the byLassen products is like red thread throughout this space and makes for a very coherent look which is minimal yet fresh.

This blogpost was created in collaboration with byLassen, however all opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about byLassen, you can visit their website or take a look at the stylish examples on their Instagram and Pinterest.

Daring kitchen in pink

post
A black and pink kitchen with peachy walls

I’m always in awe when people dare to use color in their homes and projects since I usually stay on the safe side in my own home. This dusty pink kitchen paired with black marble and a combination of natural and smoked oak looks absolutely impressive and very high end.

I love that they went with pink on the walls and window sills as well, which makes this look ever more coherent.

Stylish and modern duplex apartment

post

This beautiful duplex apartment is the latest work of Refine Design Studio. The beige and grey color palette with black accents works both calming and contrasting and elements like the metal staircase and glass panels give this home a very high end look.

The beige kitchen is an absolute dream as well and I just can’t get over the detailing in the worktop surface – so beautiful !

Light flooded home in muted colors

post

I like how this apartment uses muted colors and textiles to give it a very cozy look, yet because of all the sunlight beaming through those windows which reflects on those crisp white walls, it also has a very fresh look and feel.

The sofa is Ikea, upgraded with a white linen Bemz cover*, which looks very fresh. The patterned carpet contrasts very nicely with all this white and I like the small black round dining table as well.

Tiny characterful home

post

I’m so in love with the characterful and relaxed vibe of this small Swedish apartment.  The small dining table by the window looks so perfectly inviting and I love the old kitchen with the white tiles and black grout. This looks is so simple, yet so powerful don’t you think ?

Warm beige living room

post

This living room has a very warm look with different tints of grey and beige, accessorised and furnished with black accent pieces. I like the white sofa in combination with the soft beige area rug and the big paper lamp shade looks very impressive in this living room as well.

The beige linen curtains make the light coming in soft and I like the low black shelving unit on the wall as well.

A relaxing weekend at the Bachmair Weissach hotel

post

I didn’t take a long vacation yet this summer, which hasn’t been such an issue since we are having such great weather here in Munich over the last weeks, but sometimes you just need a change of scenery for just a few days, to relax and recharge your batteries don’t you ?

We had the most amazing weekend at the Bachmair Weissach hotel and now I’m back home all relaxed and ready to start the workweek again. The Resort & Spa hotel is just an hour drive from Munich, at Tegernsee, which makes it the ideal weekend destination. As soon as we left Munich, I was in full on vacation mode and the environment of the hotel in between the hills and the lake makes it beyond believe you are only a one hour drive away.

What I like most about this place is it’s interior and general atmosphere. The entire Spa & Resort is a mixture of traditional Bavarian elements mixed with modern design and carefully selected art pieces which makes for a very luxurious, yet cozy vibe that makes you feel welcome and relaxed.

A delicious breakfast is served in the round Pavillion building (in the first pictures) which has the local river streaming underneath it. The black bentwood chairs, mixed with brass accents on the tables, little pink flowers on the table and the classic windows and ceiling make this space so fresh looking and the perfect spot to start the day.

After breakfast we went on to a very relaxing day at the Mizu Onsen spa and outdoor pool, where we spend hours trying out the saunas, hot and cold pools and just relaxed and had a drink in the outdoor area. The spa is designed according to the Japanese bath ceremony and won the ‘Luxury Spa Resort’ prize, which I can totally confirm: it’s such a great experience and it really feels like time stands still here.

There are different dinner options at the hotel, but the highlight of our culinary experience was the dinner at the Mizu Sushi Bar, which has top-chef Franz-Josef Unterlechner preparing delicious Japanese food since this year. Also here, I was both amazed by the food as well as the interior, which is a mixture of Japanese touches, with modern elements and local traditional materials.

I had visited the hotel last year in spring time when it was still colder and back then I had spend most of my time in the spa. This time the weather allowed us to be more outside and enjoy the outdoor pool with the mountain view. I’m so in love with this place, I think I should make it a yearly tradition. Maybe next time I should try it out in winter ?

All pictures are taken by me, except for the spa one (didn’t want to take my camera there). This post was written in collaboration with the Bachmair Weissach hotel, but all words and opinions are my own of course. If you would like to know more about the hotel or see more pictures you can visit their website or have a look at my Instagram stories of the weekend (in the Travel highlight).
