Ikea Ivar painted: 14 beautiful examples
The Ikea Ivar cabinet is one of those classic budget-friendly Ikea products that are so easy to upgrade and give your own touch. The popular cabinet comes in untreated pine wood, which invites you to give it a lick of paint and give it a new look.
You can use chalk paint for a matt look, a wood stain if you want some of the grain to come through, or work with the same color as the wall for a sophisticated tone-on-tone look that integrates with your existing decor.
A row of Ivar cabinets painted in the same dark blue color as the wall
This living room includes a series of three Ivar cabinets next to each other, connected by a top plate that is cut to size to seamlessly connect the different modules together. The top, as well as the cabinet doors, are painted in a deep blue color that has also been used on the accent wall behind it.
The wall space above the cabinets has been turned into a beautiful gallery wall, which looks absolutely amazing in the space.

Ikea Ivar cabinet painted black with leather pulls
The seamless integration of two Ivar cabinets which are attached to the wall stands out so nicely against the beige wall color in the space. The black-painted Ivar system is complemented by two black lamps and a black and white art print on the wall, while the leather pulls finish off this Ivar hack perfectly.

A light blue Ikea Ivar and a wall in the same color
The light blue color on the wall and on the Ikea Ivar cabinets really stands out in this dining room, which otherwise consists of white walls and natural wood tones. The Ivar system fits perfectly on this rather small wall and provides extra storage space for tableware next to the dining table.

A tone-on-tone grey for bedroom storage cabinets
This Ikea Ivar has been painted in a subtle grey tone, which is the same as the color on the walls and floorboards. The two modules provide extra storage in the bedroom and they are perfect for storing smaller items like accessories that you don’t want taking up space in your wardrobe.

Light grey Ivar cabinets for extra kitchen storage space
The subtle light grey color on this set of Ikea Ivar modules stands out in a subtle way against the white walls and white flooring in the kitchen. The XL round mirror adds an extra dimension to the kitchen and reflects both the daylight and the space.

A subtle greige color combined with a solid wood top
While the Ikea Ivar itself has been painted in the same subtle greige wall color for an integrated effect in this bedroom, the warm wood top adds a bit of contrast and warmth to the setting that also comes back in the wooden chair next to the window.

A pop of yellow and round cabinet pulls transforms this Ivar cabinet into an eye-catcher
While the color palette of this dining room is modest with its white walls and natural tones on the floor and furniture, it’s the pop of butter yellow on the Ikea Ivar that stands out in this room.
To finish off the cabinets, round wood cabinet pulls have been added to the doors which complement the other wood tones in the interior.

A bold pink Ivar cabinet stands out in a modest living room color palette
Dusty pink is quite a daring color for an Ikea Ivar I would say, yet it stands out so nicely in this modest living room decor. The warm red undertone in the painted Ivar also comes back in the velvet dining room chairs, which elevates the look of the interior.

A dark wood stain for a sophisticated look
This Ikea Ivar functions as a beautiful storage solution in a studio home, where it’s one of the darker elements in the space. The dark stain on the cabinets almost makes the module unrecognizable and it makes this cheap storage solution look expensive.

A tone-on-tone Ikea Ivar cabinet with an XL round mirror
Another example of an XL mirror finishing off the look of two Ivar modules. The cabinets blend into the grey-colored walls, making the extra storage opportunity very subtle, blending it into the space.

A white-painted Ikea Ivar combination with a wood top
The white walls, white sofa, and white Ivar cabinet contrast nicely against the dark wood flooring in this living room. The dark wood top adds a bit more contrast and the green plants add a fresh touch to the interior.

A deep green color and gold legs for an Ikea Ivar as a bedroom sideboard
If you don’t want to hang your Ivar cabinet on the wall, you can always add legs to transform its look. The gold legs in combination with the deep green color on these cabinets work nicely as a sideboard in this bedroom.
